  • Discover the unique conditions that make the Black Sea host to dozens of shipwrecks that date back thousands of years.
    --
In 2017, researchers off the Bulgarian coast discovered the oldest intact shipwreck ever found. This ancient Greek vessel was not only nearly 2,500 years old, but was just one of 65 shipwrecks found at the bottom of the Black Sea in remarkable condition. So, why does the Black Sea contain so many well-preserved shipwrecks? Helen Farr and Jon Adams dive into the depths of the unique body of water.

Could maybe be one day possible, we would have to invite some sort of chamber to encapsulate it then slowly drain the water out it while at the same time slowly bringing to the surface

I am always brought nearly to tears when history is allowed by nature to survive and be re-discovered.
Imagine the events and the people that surrounded the ship. The daily troubles, the importance of the ship and the lives of those upon it.
It is not just a wreck but a time-capsule of a bygone age and the people that lived it.

On modern day traditional boats across the Mediterranean, one could still see the eye of horus. Back then, long before Egypt was conquered by Greece in 332 BC,eyes were painted on Roman and Greek boats as a sort of protection for their boat and for the owner and Crew from bad spirits. In other words, the eye was used as luck from the Gods.
