Best linebacker in the history of football 🏈 Hands Down 🙌 He changed the game forever He dominated the game at his position and he was unlike anyone else at the pro level before him or since he left
Has anyone ever noticed no matter what has Taylor has done that no other player has ever talked bad about him publicly? That to me says it all. He's possibly the most flawed "Hall of famer" ever. Now that shows just how great his football career was. All the talk about how player's character off the field don't even apply to him(and it shouldn't) . That's what I called greatness
That game against the New Orleans Saints is his legacy game. There's no I mean no defensive player to ever go through that kind of pain and still play that hard in a game. No one.
As intense as this guy was, he was never dirty. I've never seen a man get to the quarterback as much as LT and set them on the ground so softly. Even that catastrophic hit on Theisman was purely accidental.
Raul Cortes No, no he's not. I love Von and all, but c'mon dude. Really? LT is the best defensive player of *all time*, and he's sure as hell better than anyone that's playing right now. Including Watt.

@@Crisisbiker I'm a Ny'er. So yes he's the best defensive player ever. But Jerry Rice is the best offensive player ever. That guy was a trained conditioned super athlete. Always in shape. Crazy how naturally good he was.
When you change the way a game is played you should be the greatest. He literally made the tackle position of the most important positions of all time. He made 3-4 outside linebacker one the most seek out player for a draft if you have a 3-4 defense. He changed the game. He's the greatest of all time. Forget greatest defensive player of all time, for someone to change the game and the way you coach, draft and play, you are the greatest ever
LT turned around one of the worst franchises at that point. The Giants stunk from 64-81 w/ zero playoff appearances. Greatest defensive player I've seen. He changed the way defense is played - after him a lot of teams drafted players like Pat Swilling, Andre Tippet, etc., and used them the same way the Giants used LT.
I would have added his 98-yard pick-six to the highlights...for no other reason than the fact that it wasn't his normal thing, and he did it like it was nothing.
Another game he singlehandedly won. Set his team up for both field goals...such a shitty offense. I'm a Bears fan so I can relate. Then the pick 6 at his own goalline. He's #1 on my list
Dude played with 1 arm and to think players now don't play if their hand or leg is a little sprained lol Ronnie Lot amputated his finger to get back in and play lmao you will never see that kind of commitment again

Absolutely true, you know, when you break Joe Theismann's Leg, lead the league in sacks, and cover well while being a LB is being a pretty great player.
LT was the reason I became a football fan. He's the only defensive player I've seen taken over games like an offensive player. LT is also one of those athletes like Jordan, Larry Bird, Griffey, Mantle, Barry Sanders and Walter Payton, when they take over a game it turned sports into a beautiful artful performance.
Those lovely, beautiful almost all white uniforms. Love those Giants late 80s ones. So many dark and black and red uniforms these days. White, a bit of blue, a bit of red....awesome!
common misconception. LT's form was text book. He didn't lead w/his head or hit QB's late. You could use his videos in the NFL's guide on proper tackling form today.
We haven’t seen a more relentless player like this, probably never will. Special talent. Glad he was part of my favorite Giants! had the best defensive player of all time! Go NYG big Blue! 💙🏈

LT went to rehab during the offseason In 1986 Taylor had one of the most successful seasons by a defensive player in the history of the NFL. He recorded a league-leading 20.5 sacks and became one of just two defensive players to win the NFL Most Valuable Player award and the only defensive player to be the unanimous selection for MVP.[45][46][47] He also was named Defensive Player of the Year for the third time. The Giants finished the season 14-2 and outscored San Francisco and Washington by a combined score of 66-3 in the NFC playoffs.[48] He appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated alone the week leading up to Super Bowl XXI with a warning from the magazine to the Denver Broncos regarding Taylor.[49] The Giants overcame a slow start in Super Bowl XXI to defeat Denver 39-20.[48]Taylor made a key touchdown preventing tackle on a goal line play in the first half, stopping Broncos quarterback John Elway as he sprinted out on a rollout. With the Super Bowl win, Taylor capped off an unprecedented start to his career. After six years, he had been named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award (1981), NFL Defensive Player of the Year a record three times (1981, 1982, 1986), First-team All-Pro six times,[26] become the first defensive player in NFL history unanimously voted the league's MVP (1986), and led his team to a championship (1986).
Thanksgiving of 1982 LT single-handedly beat the lions. ua-cam.com/video/ba3akiNi1sA/v-deo.html "The pain game" - New York Giants Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor playing with torn shoulder ligaments and a detached pectoral muscle against the New Orleans Saints had three of the Giants' five sacks. He forced two fumbles and batted down a pass. Almost as an afterthought, he had seven tackles. And whether he lined up on the right or left side, he had the Saints' offense wondering: Where is he? Played with an injury that would prevent some people from combing their hair. Just as he did last season with a pulled hamstring muscle that would have put some people on crutches. "LT is the GOAT. He caused sacks to become an official stat. He revolutionized the OLB position and in turn revolutionized the left tackle position. And he was a damn great player. He murdered QBs on a regular basis. No one was better than LT. NO ONE." John Madden - "Lawrence Taylor, defensively, has had as big an impact as any player I've ever seen. He changed the way defense is played, the way pass-rushing is played, the way linebackers play and the way offenses block linebackers." Bill Belichick - "LT played his best clean, LT is in a class of his own." Taylor is considered one of the best players to ever play in the NFL, and has been ranked as the top defensive player in league history by news outlets, media members, former players and coaches.[1][2][3] He has also been described as one of the most "feared" and "intimidating" players in NFL history.[1][78] Taylor's explosive speed and power is credited with changing the position of outside linebacker from a "read and react" type of position to a more attacking, aggressive position.[79] Washington Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs developed the two tight endoffense and the position of h-back to prevent Taylor from blitzing into the backfield unhindered.[45][80] "We had to try in some way have a special game plan just for Lawrence Taylor. Now you didn't do that very often in this league but I think he's one person that we learned the lesson the hard way. We lost ball games."[45][77] His skills changed the way offensive coaches blocked linebackers. In the late '70s and early '80s, a blitzing linebacker was picked up by a running back. However, these players were no match for Taylor.[81] The tactic employed by San Francisco 49ers head coach Bill Walshin the 1982 playoffs, using an offensive guard to block Taylor, was copied around the league. However, this left a hole in pass protection that a blitzing middle linebacker could exploit. Later, Walsh and other coaches began using offensive tackles to block Taylor. Later it became common for offensive linemen to pick up blitzing linebackers. In addition to the changes in offensive schemes Taylor influenced, he also introduced new defensive techniques to the game such as chopping the ball out of the quarterback's hands rather than tackling him.[82] amp.si.com/nfl/2017/07/17/giants-lawrence-taylor-mmqb-all-time-draft-first-pick So there are many of the reasons why I think LT is the best ever! When you talk about defensive "Goat" it's almost always LT, When you talk about offensive "Goat" there's a handful of names.
He was 8 times first team all pro 2 times 2nd team.only reason he was only 2nd team in 1987 was because he pulled his hamstring on one of the greatest plays i ever saw him make.tackling randall cunningham from behind and forcing a fumble
Oh yes Lawrence Taylor; as a Cowboy "fanatic" I had a love hate relationship. First I loved his approach to the game, his speed and knowledge where frightening. When an offensive line has to game plan an alter their scheme you quickly free up another player to threaten your QB. His only drawback is that he didn't play for the Cowboys. 🤣
Should've been #1, and if you disagree with me, LT was the most feared player of all time, he would end players' careers in a few seconds, no one else dominated the league like he did
LT. Last of the throwbacks. Like Jack Youngblood, who broke his leg in a playoff game for the LA Rams. He taped it up, went back in and they won. Then he went on to not only play in the rest of the playoffs, he also won a Super Bowl AND played in the pro bowl right after that. Yeah, LT is one of those legends.
I may be bias, but this man is the best player in the NFL all-time, period. He literally changed how the offense plays today, how the defense plays today, was literally a one man show some games. Truly a legend.
If you look up the word "dominate", LT's picture and a description of his career would be under it. At 2:35 you LT destroy an OG (offensive guard) and sack the QB with one hand. I feel blessed as a New York Giants fan, to have watched LT play for 13 years. Some of those early years, I was mesmerized by him despite a crappy VHF television.
i watched him every sunday when he came into the league, and i still remember every sunday was a NFL films Highlight reel just focusing on LT....he was the best player on the field every time he played

Doleman was a defensive end.only ricky jackson and andre tippett can be mentioned in a breath with lt.they are not even close.all the others had parts of lts game but not the all around game.another important thing about lt,he almost never missed a tackle.alot of these guys trying for forced fumbles miss tackles.dt missed a sack on the last play of the game in his 7 sack game because he went for a ff.taylor would have made sure of the tackle then try for the strip
The greatest Linebacker ever, no question about it.
Best linebacker in the history of football 🏈
Hands Down 🙌
He changed the game forever
He dominated the game at his position and he was unlike anyone else at the pro level before him or since he left
Best player in NFL history!!
@@leramfreeman2950
Jim Brown and Jerry rice were just as good as he was
I come back here from time to time just to get the chills. What a dope video
I’m a die hard eagles fan. But man, I love this guy. One of my favorite players ever
2:56 “Hey baby it’s going down like a bunch of crazed dogs, have some fun” ICONIC
I believe it’s “let’s go out there like a bunch of crazed dogs and have some fun.”
That's what I called greatness
very true. Its like his greatness was too great...that everyone was willing to give him a pass on his mistakes
Love Bill Parcells as coach...he is a general of a coach...love Lawrence Taylor...1 of a kind. 🏈🏈🏈
I bet if Jerry Jones let coach Parcells do his thing the Cowboys would've been back in the glory land 17 years ago. Nope, it's Jerry-world in Dallas
You can tell he really love LT
@@cashmerecalhoun9741 yes ✌
SINGELHANDEDLY made Left Tackles the highest paid offensive linemen in the NFL
I don’t care what anyone says but lawrence Taylor is the best linebacker and I’ve never seen any linebacker like this
That game against the New Orleans Saints is his legacy game.
G.O.A.T. Defensive player
huh Von is 100000000 × better then taylor
Raul Cortes No, no he's not. I love Von and all, but c'mon dude. Really? LT is the best defensive player of *all time*, and he's sure as hell better than anyone that's playing right now. Including Watt.
Fine bro but Broncos nation all day
Raul Cortes True dat
You could argue that Reggie White is too
Been intently watching NFL football since 1974. Greatest NFL player I’ve ever watched and it’s not even close.
LT was a total masterpiece of an athlete, the finest ever, a lion, a shark, a pit bull, a Shaka Zulu with an iron determination, unstoppable will /talent, total focus & built like a powerful angel with a physique sculptures can only dream of
Just wow. Listening to someone as hard to please as Coach Parcells talk about LT gives you goosebumps.
In every poll LT has been ranked the best defensive player in NFL history. One of only two defensive players to ever win league MVP
I am a 49ers fan and I watched (and loved/worshipped) Montana, Rice and Young, but in terms of the essence of football and the greatest exponent of it, it's LT for me. There will never be another.
@@Crisisbiker I'm a Ny'er. So yes he's the best defensive player ever. But Jerry Rice is the best offensive player ever. That guy was a trained conditioned super athlete. Always in shape. LT barely practiced. He slept during film sessions. He didn't really comply to the structure of a called play. He rushed in Man to man or drop back coverage. 😂 And he was using hard drugs at the time. Crazy how naturally good he was.
@@Dewitt-b8n👀 don't question the sauce 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@@MrDragonkarp 😂😂😂 LT was amazing. Scary amazing
NFL should "universally" retire LT's uniform number, 56, across all national football league teams.
lee Bailey lol. Why?
SionCore bc they can🙂
I was joking chill😂
56, 16, 80
I've always thought so as well. They also should have taken #23 out of basketball. Same level of greatness.
"I did it again didn't I?" Gotta love the innocence of raw talent
Sacks the QB, tells him they need to do better than this. Helps him up only to probably sack him again the very next play. L.T = legendary.
🤯
The Greatest Football Player that ever stepped on an NFL Field. Period.......
"If I hit a guy right, I'll hit a nerve and he'll feel electrocuted"....LT
Greatest Defensive Player of all time, his autobiography could be Lawrence Taylor: The Human Nightmare
LT turned around one of the worst franchises at that point. The Giants stunk from 64-81 w/ zero playoff appearances. Greatest defensive player I've seen. He changed the way defense is played - after him a lot of teams drafted players like Pat Swilling, Andre Tippet, etc., and used them the same way the Giants used LT.
ehh I'd argue the team took a turn when bill belichick was there
The best football player regardless of position ever to play
Lawrence Taylor, the defensive G.O.A.T. at any position on the defensive side of the ball...period.
LT had his share of problems but on the field where it mattered he was the GOAT.
I would have added his 98-yard pick-six to the highlights...for no other reason than the fact that it wasn't his normal thing, and he did it like it was nothing.
super76 Yes he left WR Leonard Thomas in the dust a WORLD CLASS SPRINTER!!!!!!!
And he was carrying an injury.
Lawrence Taylor is hands down the best player to play in the NFL. Never seen someone play so well, but be clean while doing it.
Best LB of all time and it's not even close... 🐐 💯
LT is the GOAT. He caused sacks to become an official stat. He revolutionized the OLB position and in turn revolutionized the left tackle position. And he was a damn great player. He murdered QBs on a regular basis. No one was better than LT. NO ONE.
#BigBluePride #LT #GOAT
Word
Absolutely true, you know, when you break Joe Theismann's Leg, lead the league in sacks, and cover well while being a LB is being a pretty great player.
3:02 "Son, ya'll gotta be better than this.."
Truly a legend
Amazing to see how Parcells and Belichick’s eyes light up like children when they talk about LT.
1:40 this is my favorite Lawrence Taylor story
LT is the greatest defensive player of all time and the second overall greatest of all time. Only the GOAT tops him
Who Tom Brady?
+Charlie Varshay Nope.
+zachary ducasse who's better than Brady?
+Charlie Varshay jerry rice joe Montana Charles Woodson
Charlie Varshay jerry rice will always be #1
LT was the reason I became a football fan. He's the only defensive player I've seen taken over games like an offensive player. LT is also one of those athletes like Jordan, Larry Bird, Griffey, Mantle, Barry Sanders and Walter Payton, when they take over a game it turned sports into a beautiful artful performance.
I can’t even imagine how valuable was Taylor that 86 season that they have chosen the linebacker to be MVP, just better than everyone else
Those lovely, beautiful almost all white uniforms. Love those Giants late 80s ones. So many dark and black and red uniforms these days. White, a bit of blue, a bit of red....awesome!
This is how great LT was: He won Defensive Player of the Year, as a Rookie
Then, he decided to win it again, the next year.
you could say he "single-handedly" took down the saints
Hello Person i see what ur doing with that..lol good show
In the NFL now he'd pprobably be suspended half the time because of all the rules
no fun league for a reason
+Robbie W
common misconception. LT's form was text book. He didn't lead w/his head or hit QB's late. You could use his videos in the NFL's guide on proper tackling form today.
Derek Sheehan He committed 4 personal fouls his entire career. Suspended for what?
TheLuscious look at the rules today
I’m a Jets fan but have to admit that Sir Lawrence Taylor is by far, the greatest NFL player of all time.
We haven’t seen a more relentless player like this, probably never will. Special talent. Glad he was part of my favorite Giants! had the best defensive player of all time! Go NYG big Blue! 💙🏈
Facts.
He’s STILL the greatest defensive player of all time.
Bill loved LT like a son 💙
A freak of nature. Greatest OLB in the history of the game.

In 1985 LT had a down year, John Madden said he was great but not dominant.
He changed the way defense is played, the way pass-rushing is played, the way linebackers play and the way offenses block linebackers." Bill Belichick - "LT played his best clean, LT is in a class of his own." Taylor is considered one of the best players to ever play in the NFL, and has been ranked as the top defensive player in league history by news outlets, media members, former players and coaches.[1][2][3] He has also been described as one of the most "feared" and "intimidating" players in NFL history.[1][78] Taylor's explosive speed and power is credited with changing the position of outside linebacker from a "read and react" type of position to a more attacking, aggressive position.[79]
Washington Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs developed the two tight endoffense and the position of h-back to prevent Taylor from blitzing into the backfield unhindered.[45][80] "We had to try in some way have a special game plan just for Lawrence Taylor.
5 hours of research what a waste of time although it was fun learning a lot of new facts lol.
He was 8 times first team all pro 2 times 2nd team.only reason he was only 2nd team in 1987 was because he pulled his hamstring on one of the greatest plays i ever saw him make.tackling randall cunningham from behind and forcing a fumble
People talk about TB12 like he not a product of a great coach. LT MADE Parcells and Belichick!! He is the Greatest Player in NFL History!!!!
To this day the best player Ive ever seen bad dude frightening
I’m glad I was able to watch LTs entire career. It was a pleasure. Last defensive player to win the MVP. Will always be my favorite football player.
LT was a cold piece of work. That man was awesome.
Oh yes Lawrence Taylor; as a Cowboy "fanatic" I had
a love hate relationship. First I loved his approach to
the game, his speed and knowledge where frightening. When an offensive line has to game plan an alter their scheme you quickly free up another player to threaten your QB.
His only drawback is that he
didn't play for the Cowboys.
🤣
I’m a hardcore cowboys fan and he is by far my 2nd favorite player ever
Never compare anyone to Lawrence Taylor, because Taylor is the greatest football player who ever lived, regardless of position.
God that ending gives me chills when they play that music showing a full body pick of Taylor. NFL on point always 💯
#56 on a Giants jersey is always in fashion.
Should've been #1, and if you disagree with me, LT was the most feared player of all time, he would end players' careers in a few seconds, no one else dominated the league like he did
true
Did u watch KTO's video on him?
No one else? Ever heard of Jerry Rice?
lawrence taylor is the best defensive player period
Imagine a defense with LT on one side and Jack Ham on the other, with Ray Lewis and Lambert in the middle
Fat Guy Fitness can’t say I want to image that
Some of those early years, I was mesmerized by him despite a crappy VHF television.
frankiecrocker amen brother you said it well
He was listed at 6' 3" 237 lbs with a 4.55 40 yard time after The Combine
On every Game Day, he was 6' 6" 290 lbs with a 4.3 40 yard time
The GREATEST IMO but I'm bias I'm a Giants fans lol
Lol me too

Even an injured LT was better than most if not all these HOF players. A true testament to his speed and power. 🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴
i watched him every sunday when he came into the league, and i still remember every sunday was a NFL films Highlight reel just focusing on LT....he was the best player on the field every time he played
