As someone who is neither a fan nor an anti-fan, Selena's popularity has never made sense to me and I don't think it ever will. Lastly, as someone who is often told how nice I am, I have felt that it suffocates me. While I think kindness is more than valuable, I would never make "niceness" my moto and I don't advise it for anyone.

Maybe saying this is actually really toxic and demeaning to chronically ill people. Maybe she's a human being and hasn't outwardly and explicitly done the shit that so many others in hollywood have. Maybe she's gained a lot of respect from people for having a really severe life threatening illness, for going through a transplant, for facing all her health issues along with the bodily changes from the medications (prednisone is one of the most awful medications, I know from my own experience), and keeping herself vulnerable and composed and also- continuing to work because she still can, and it's all based on talent. All the driving agents mocking her lately are nepo's only known for their rich parents and/or marrying her ex. I'm not even a big fan of Selena's work, but as a chronically ill person I take huge offense to this term, and it used particularly on her since this situation is so blatantly obvious bullying towards her and her lupus. It doesn't matter that she's a human being that did xyz to other girls several years ago?! It matters that there's a psycho stalking her and literally trying to be her RIGHT NOW.
