Apart from the trick, I also enjoyed the commitment to carrying the invisible participation trophy all the way across the stage until exiting it.
LOL Same!!! 😂😂😂
Haha 😂
That's just safety first. If he dropped it, it'd be an invisible tripping hazard!
Haha me too
He should have leaned over the floor with outstretched arms to carry off that very heavy, 6' tall trophy!
: )
I'm at peace with not knowing how all these tricks are done. The performances are just so entertaining. Good job!
Thanks John!
speak for yourself, I must know
@ricky5369 I’m only answering because your name is Ricky. He held a bullet in his mouth the entire performance. Alyson was instructed to write the 9♦️… BANG
Love the stage presence. You are a talented performer. This was a joy to watch!
Thanks for the kind words Lauren!
I didn't think they would know how he did it. I admire you magicians!
My guess is that on the box is ink stamps of entire deck of cards. When he asks her what her card is, he touches his finger to the corresponding stamp, gets ink on his fingers and touches the bullet picking it up from the box. Putting her card "drawn on" the bullet.
Edited to add: The bullet was in his mouth the whole time.
Starting at 4:49 you can see the bullet still in his mouth with the 9 of diamonds on it.
My guess - The inner base of the box has the 9 of diamonds on it (and possibly some instructions) and this is what she sees when she's looking at the invisible bullets. Notice he never asks her to think of a card, he just asks her to draw the card she is thinking of. This technique is called instant stooge.
He sure fooled me!
@@DHealey yeah that confused me, almost like something was lost in the editing. What card she's thinking of??
Very little in magic is more satisfying than a great effect, delivered perfectly, right in front of your eyes. This was a great routine! Nice work.
Thanks!
Was able to figure it out after hearing Penn's comments and then watching it again. Nice job! I'd be nervous the whole time though - even with the fake gun.
some part of the show was cut out by fooled us team, you can not figure it out without the parts that we have
@@oguzgeo It baffled me. I wish I could see it.
Why would anyone be nervous over a gun? A fake one even less so.
You really had to trust allison on this one. Giving her a loaded gun. She could have done you real bad if she didn't do as you told her, couldn't she? 😉
What a wonderfully worded comment, put even better to words than Penn did!
To be fair, Alison is a professional performer and I don't think she would set up another performer to fail like that.
She had military training in the 36th invisible battalion.
She a actress not a person that works in the military
@@kathrynnpetersen8876 She was in the 36th invisible battalion. They guy is right.
Oh man, Jon, what a trick! Teller's face said it all, the ending hits you like a ton of bricks - wait, how did he do that? Being able to divine what appears to be a freely chosen card that a spectator merely THINKS of looks for all the world like true magic, any audience would be astounded by such an awesome routine. I loved it, hands down one of the best tricks that's ever been on the show.
Unfortunately, I think that the thing that makes it so brilliant is also what makes it a routine that could never have fooled P&T, because of the "too perfect" principle: if the performer rules out all other possible methods, then whatever remains must be the actual method (Alyson as I.S., in this case). They know the rules of the show, and they know you know them, so that rules out pre-show work or confederates, you had no props except a clear acrylic case, mentalism isn't real so you're not verbally forcing anything or reading her body language - therefore there's only one way to do it, which is how you did it, and that's what Penn alluded to in his commentary.
But in any case, my god what a brilliant routine, and such a beautiful and creative twist on a classic of magic. I don't mean any criticism of you or the act whatsoever, you presented something amazing. Do that on AGT and you'll blow them away every time.
Thanks for your detailed analysis and kind words!
@@jonmobley I want to say also that this routine is such a perfect example of why the method is by far the least important aspect of any routine, at least as far as pleasing the audience is concerned. A lot of magicians seem to think that hugely complicated methods are necessary to perform spell-binding effects that audiences will remember, when the reality is that the only thing that truly matters is how you make them feel.
The average person who doesn't know much about how magic works sees this and is so utterly baffled, just like both P&T were in the immediate aftermath, and they'll create so many complicated scenarios in their head to try and figure out how it was done. If you were to tell them the actual method they would be shocked at its "simplicity" (for lack of a better word; perhaps "uncomplicated" is more accurate since it takes serious handling / stage management skills to pull it off) and probably very disappointed. The fiction is so much stronger than the reality, no true method could ever live up to the imaginary methods whizzing around in their head, and so the entire thing hinges on the patter and personality of the performer, which you have in spades.
I can't say enough good things about this routine, I really can't. This is exactly why I love magic so much, the pure joy of seeing a miracle unfold in the hands of a skilled performer. I hope I get the chance to see you perform live or at least via a Zoom show some day!
I still don’t get how he did it?
I am really happy to read the comments before watching.
it was like someone telling me "there you can get a great steak". I knew what was comming and I could love it even more.
@@DevyanshBahri honestly neither do Penn and Teller. They just know what he did, not how. It’s a tough break.
Excellent work man, love that feeling where you're like "how the fuck did he do that" 😂
The part where he asks her to pick a card and she says "I pick the 9 of hearts" was edited out for some reason.
well it's because this is uploaded by the magician himself and I guess he's a scumbag
2:51 "the card you are thinking..", when did he ask her to think of a card? Did I miss here ? 😌
Great question Vinayak! I’m not sure why that was edited out… often they will make little edits for time but that’s a crucial part of the trick.
@@jonmobleyif it is true, we cannot figure it out how its done
Absolutely. At no point in the video do we see her select a card.
He told her to write a card she thought of onto the imaginary bullet with the imaginary marker .
@@drew2324 ... but I don't think he asked her to think of a card
Magician: pulls out an invisible deck
P&T: fine, we already know this one
1:08
"You come in to MY house - "
Lovely job.
Loved the idea, great performance, and the prop is superb. Also to some of the comments, gotta say I don't think it qualifies as an is, more a dual reality trick, there's still enough scope for any lay assistant to be hugely impressed, Alyson has probably seen enough magic close up over the years to get it though.
Duel reality! You must be a magician?
Great showmanship & energy. That was a cool trick! Still couldn't figure out how it's done. It surprised me lol
Wow, great trick. Still not sure how it was completely done since the options on the bullet would surely be pretty limited and Allison's choice was visible in his mouth before she said it outloud....
Thanks for the comment Billy. Yes a great mystery 😅
2:50 "the card you're thinking of." Am I stupid? When did we pick a card?
For some reason they edited out me asking her to think of a card. 🤷♂️
@@jonmobley Don't feel too bad. They've mangled many tricks far worse, with the hack job on Boris Wild's trick particularly annoying me. Even more inexplicable than that was Brian Brushwood's serial number prover--they left in the tedious first part and yet still edited out the final prover check of the number..., which ends up being far worse than merely a waste of time because it rather looks like he screwed up the trick and then was trying to gloss over it. The single greatest trick on this show is how the editors manage to keep their jobs.
@@vigilante8374 Can you explain what you mean with Brian Brushwood's trick? What was edited out?
@@Kasia120612 He had the audience read off the serial number out loud but then he just tosses aside the bill or something. Someone pointed this out in the comment section and he clarified that yes Penn and Teller did verify that the serial number read out by the audience did match what was on the bill, but that this was edited out. (As an aside, he showed how to do this effect on his Scam School UA-cam channel years before he was on Fool Us. I wouldn't normally reveal magic methods but since Brian showed it on his channel--assuming he used the same method that he used on Fool Us--he accomplishes this by obtaining sequential dollar bills from a bank and carefully removing the last digit with... some sort of abrasive, I think it was. Nobody knows off the top of their head how long a dollar bill serial number is supposed to be, so if you remove the last digit you can now have 10 bills that appear to have the same serial number.)
@@jonmobley"for some reason" yeah right
Great performance, Jon!
Thanks King! 👑
4:39. I love this recovery! Seemed so natural and was funny
Its part of the show
@@perfekt1000 that's the best part
Haha yeah
Did he expect the shot sound to be heard at 1 ? That would make no sense
What's great here is that I fully understand everything that happenend... but I can't see where it was done.
"Name a card."
"OK, umm... nine of diamonds."
"Check it."
😲 "Wut? How?" 🤔🤯
... but we don't know how the card was selected, it wasn't in the video.
@@sortehuse
It was selected in Allison's head. That's the point. There is no "select a card" choice by the participant, where the performer would otherwise force the card to match the bullet in his mouth.
@@sortehuseHe cut it out of the video 😒
7:14 I thought he was gonna pull a Mathieu Bich, I think Penn thought so too, "uh oh!"
Very cool! Loved it! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Am I crazy, or does Alison's face turn crazy red for a split second at 5:43?
Omg
Is the late sound part of the routine? That made me laugh
Ha yes it is part of the routine glad you liked it 🤣
Yes
@@jonmobley should find a way to use a bigger bullet then you can complain about the shooter trying to kill u really nifty no force on card choice
What gets me is the bullet, in between his teeth, clearly shows 9 of diamonds. There was no switch after she named her card 🤔
Notice that the part where she's asked to pick a card is edited out or missing. That's not accidental.
Great trick, AMAZING concept behind it. Really funny too!
Wow! What a simple method, for a great performance! ♥ Never crossed my mind to do this! Seriously, great way to use some time 😎
What a lovely act and personality
At 4:52, why did you say, "For the first time, what was the card you were thinking that you drew on the bullet?"
People are saying you had asked her this earlier, but if that were the case, asking this at 4:52 wouldn't have been "for the first time."
Great performance! 🙂👍
Glad you like it
I wonder what Annemann would think of this!
2:50 - what card she's thinking of? I don't remember that being mentioned.
Good point. Sometimes the performances are trimmed for time. And me asking her to think of a card somehow is edited out?
This is awesome! Keep it up!
Thanks!
Here's the perplexing part, 9D was clearly written on the bullet while in his mouth BEFORE Alyson revealed her card choice , so it's not a gimicked bullet.
But the part that Alyson is asked to chose a card has apparently been edited out because he simply asks her to write the card she was thinking of but it's not shown at what point she was asked to think of a card. That's kind of an important part. Was it a mental force of some kind. Hard to tell by the way this was edited.
All I can conclude is that the bullet was already marked with 9D before her choice was revealed. That's for certain. So some kind of a force must have been applied.
Penn says that Alyson was able to "see" things like they were real. My best guess is that something was written on the bottom inside of the clear box that told Alyson to pick the 9D.
Very likely there were drawings of four bullets. 6 and 9 of Diamonds and perhaps 6 and 9 of hearts. She was asked to choose a bullet. She picked one of the four drawings she saw. He rolled the bullet around in the box to get it in the right position to take out the real bullet showing 9 of diamonds. On the other side was one of the other 2 potential choices
@@CaptainVideo1960 I'm not sure what you mean since there was never any real bullets in the box. They were all "invisible" or imaginary. No "real" bullet was ever seen until he revealed it in his mouth.
See my comment higher up. She was never asked to choose a card, the card she was to choose was indicated by something inside the box that we didn't see. This technique is called Instant Stooge.
@@DHealey that makes sense. As Penn indicated, Alyson wad able to "see" something that the audience was not able to see. Seems like a small risk involved however, if the instant stooge goes rogue and picks a card that was not intended to be picked.
The whole "Instant Stooge" thing is entirely too lame for a trick like this. In fact it eliminates it as a magic trick at all. "I am going to put a bullet in my mouth and than reveal it", TADA!
Well, I can think of two ways to do this but neither seemed to be represented here. So, for me....baffling. Good trick, Jon!
Where was the card selection?
He cut it to hide the forcing of the 9♦️
maybe its 3 am and i just missed it, but i got no method for this completely fooled
It's not just you. They completely butchered it in editing to make a relatively simple trick look impossible.
Great trick Jon!
Ah thanks so much.
Nicely done, Jon! Loved it!
Woo hoo! Awesome job!
Thanks Caleb!
I don't get it. That is clearly a 6 of diamonds.
Did they edit out the part where he asked her to think of a card? It cut straight to asking her to write what card she was thinking of. Is it a force since the 9D was visible on the bullet between his teeth before he asked her what card she picked.
Good observation! Yes there are a couple moments edited out (for time?) and that instruction didn’t make the cut.
@@jonmobley Too bad. Your instruction to write the card Alison is thinking of appears to come out of the blue. Great plot and beautiful performance anyways. :-)
BTW, I suppose what we do not see is that Alison got to freely think of one of two cards out of a deck of 52?
@@jonmobley Great trick, and I know you don't control the editing, but... One of the rules on Fool Us is no pre-show work, as that would be unfair to Penn and Teller. The cut here could have been a bit unfair to the video audience in the same way.
@@brygenon agreed. Shame on Fool Us for doing editing.
Where did his necklace go?
Great eye! It fell into my shirt while I was catching the bullet
Man I'm in a weird place where I want to learn more about magic so I can truly appreciate the tricks more, but also realise that in doing so I may risk some of the mystique from future tricks. This trick to me is so mind boggling that I really want to know how it's done. Even thinking into penns codewords I still cannot figure out how it would work. Well done for making me feel as wonderstruck as I am frustrated! I really enjoyed the audio gag too
One of the clues was relating to 6 and 9 being interchangeable. that would reduce how many bullets he would have to hold in his mouth, if it was done via some variation on that idea.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Now you’re talking ;)
If you know how magic is done, you can still appreciate it.
but instead of the effect, the wow factor, you have to find something else. Like the story, or the methods, or the skill, the setup, the show, or many other things.
Understanding magic mostly eliminated the wow effec, but i got so much mor. But that is a personal decision and i don't care about being "wowed", but i love to see the ingenuity from other people.
@@JackMott i think we all heard that one but reducing 52 to 48 means we clearly didn't understand it anyway as that's still an impractically large number
What happened to his dog tags? Is that part of the trick too🥴😆
Why were Alyson and I thinking of the same card?
Teller’s voice is invisible.
"The card you're thinking of..."
When did he ask Alison to think of a card?
Was something edited out?
Must have been purposely edited, I didn't see it either, so probably the key to the 9 of Diamonds.
sleight of tongue to draw on the bullet?
06:12 Is your thumb .. longer than your finger¿😲 That is magic really😇.
.
Lovvvved the routine.. and hope to see more of you.

Best wishes from India.🙂🙃🙂
Thanks 🙏
Hi Jon, new subscriber, buddy that was a fantastic effect. I loved it👍😊👍😊👍🤜🤛🤘✌️
Thanks Robert!!
First to comment too 🎉
@@jonmobley 😊👍😊
Anyone know how he actually did it? It’s got something to do with perspective and viewing angles. But I’m still unsure
@@Demitri_Maximoff well thanks bro, i obviously watched the video, lol. I’m asking cuz I didn’t get the code. That’s why i asked. My original comment mentioned it has to do with perspective and viewing angles, hence Penn’s comments. Thanks for providing something I already pointed out. Just asking if anyone knows what it means. I’m curious
Jon Mobley, you better tell us 😜
6:47 is the key expose from Penn, think about what he showed Alyson!
what if she had not shot straight--very dangerous
so true.
Yeah she could've accidentally had missed her target causing her to accidentally shoot him In either the eye or the forehead and make him go unconscious.
très divertissant!!!
Thanks!
My guess is that thing that disappeared was an intended misdirect for P&T. ^^
Simple and mystifying.
So much so I really don’t want to know how it’s done.
Penn said one thing where I guess he is referring to how the 9 of diamonds could be the 6 of diamonds as well.
That doesn’t really help me understand how it’s done any ways. Not all cards have another that could be depicted in other ways. Where would you stash, select and cleanly load the amount of options you had?
Definitely hope you enjoy your participation trophy!
Thanks for the comment!
As far as I'd care to guess. The bottom of the "bullet" case has the nine of diamonds written in the bottom.
How he can guess the card number is something that puzzles me.
Because he cut out part of the video
his thumb is enormous
The card was forced and that part was edited out, which is crazy, how can they actually edit out the most important part, without which this doesn't look complete
Appreciate the comment. I can assure you there were no physical cards involved in this trick. But you’re right they did cut a small section out. I asked her to think of a card and then actually guess that it was an ace (it was, but that’s a typical card people think of) and asked her to change her mind. Strange that it’s cut, because it sorta feels off without that moment.
@Jon Mobley wow, you actually read these and respond? 👏
💯! I jump into the comments every week or so. I don’t do magic because I love magic… I love creating moments of laughter and wonder for others to enjoy. And this show adds a fun game element that’s fun to discuss.
watch his arm at 2:31, something is written on pen on it, any idea what it says?
Haha that’s me and I can’t even tell 🤣
Only gun you’ve ever shot?? If you’re ever in Northern California let’s go shooting brother!!
Haha sounds amazing.
I'm glad Alec Baldwin wasn't hosting the show.
😳🫣🫣
Exactly, a libtard
Funny jokes!
Just basically a card trick;
So if the sound guy would have done his job right would the magician have won
Classic Shmobley
He never “shows Alyson invisible cards or ask her to pick from a deck of cards. He just says, write down the card you are thinking of… obviously she was told the card to be “thinking of”
He never asked her to think of a card. They cut that part out??? She could see the force card some how. But this is edited lol
Ha I can confirm there were no playing cards ever used. You’re right they did edit out me asking her to think of a card and I’m not sure why
Alyson gets better with age.
This guy looks like matpat for some reason lol
that was a 6 he held it upside-down
so?? where is the card selection part
2:57 that was so out of pocket
Why did you edit the vidoe and cut out the most important part?.. i just lost all the respect for you
If only the trick starred an invisible and silent magician
Haha
Allison should be replaced
Allisons worst outfit ever. Holy cow.
Yes i agree I don't like her outfit either tbh I liked it better when she has on a top and bottom and not the whole entire one piece.
But is it bullet proof?? 😅
Hahaha I see what you did there
To be fair, she's gone in for comfort since forever. She's well done with being sexually attractive. These are her grandmotherly older years and she's going to enjoy them in comfort, dagnabbit! Lol
And she has to wear it for the entire season!
Well you didn’t fool them because they were left with the only principle it could have been. But I seriously doubt they actually knew what material/substance you used to accomplish it. Considering all you had was a clear plastic container. It’s one of the grey areas of the show. If you had put in there some kind of magicians distraction or magicians fake technique you probably would of got them. But then there is an ethical issue with that, I always feel a bit cringe when I see performers go that route. So you took the more ethical route and it didn’t work out for you. They honestly should have give it to you for that. In the strictest terms I’m sure you fooled them as you did me. I don’t know what it is you used, I just know when you did it.
Thanks man!
I think its still a mask mate , just come out the closet
6:14 dude has the longest thumbs i have ever seen.. must be part of the trick..
🤣😂 best comment ever.
🐰🪄🃏💋 ~ Always love me some handsome magicians. There’s a term for women who get all hot and heavy for police officers, it’s called a “badge bunny“. So what’s the term for me when I can’t get enough of sexy magicians? Lol
