@@DaveAnchovies I heard, in relation to that incident, that Quine left a savage burn phone message on Sweet's answering machine complaining about what a terrible person he was for mixing him off the record and telling him he'd never work with him again.
@@danielstoddart yeah, he was basically mixed out at times, i doubt Sweet was the one to to blame... thats what the phone call was about. I had to thumbs down this comment. Why? Because, this stuff is what Liner Notes are for. I'm 39 and I'm talking about how in my day you used to buy a CD and then read all of the fine print in the booklet to find out who played what parts on what songs and where the thing was recorded and who mixed it in another state and wonder why Matthew Sweet was published by BMI and not ASCAP. I'M OLD!
@@rjbelcher4415 Haha yes, love your comment especially the part about "who mixed it in another state" lol I always have read the liner notes and it's cool when you see names you don't know and then have to look them up to see what else they have played on. 👍
I saw him play in Nashville in 1994 (Altered Beast tour) & the lead guitarist from the opening band came out to play with him (they were called something-Jonestown Massacre, I think?). He was good, though, even though his band had gotten booed offstage. Probably not the best idea to open a Matthew Sweet show with a scream metal band 🤷♂️😂 Matthew Sweets shows were a lot of fun, never knew who was gonna join in... Had that happen once seeing 10,000 Maniacs with a GF (she wanted to go) & Michael Stipe comes out & they do "Don't Go Back To Rockville"... Ah, the 90s. ♥️

that's Stuart Johnson. I had not seen him since Matthew in 95, then last year saw him playing with John Doe opening for the Replacements in Hollywood. Kicked ass back then and still working hard.
Might as well have Tom Verlaine in there too and have the ultimate Television/Voidoids crossover. Those 4 are some of my favorite guitarists of all time.

Wow, holy shit. Richard Lloyd shredding this entire tune, just sick. When MTV was worth watching.
i heard Quine played on the lp, but was so pissed at the mix, he never talked to Sweet again. Both amazing guitarists.

8 years later MTV has no music!!! Probably didn’t have any 8 years ago either lol.
Great record. Matthew Sweet was a hit machine with Lloyd and Quine.
Richard Lloyd is one of top 100 guitar players to ever live . Believe it
top 10, maybe even 3. better than hendrix. but it obviously doesn't matter.
Richard Lloyd is a beast on that strat
Just saw Richard Llyod last week in a bar in Philadelphia. He's as good as this and as good as when I saw him in 1987.
Once saw Brendan Fraser in a bar in Philly, then I realized I was seated next to a Leprechaun.
I could hear 100 false endings of this song and still not be Sick of Itself
"one more time..."
" Hi, I'm Richard Lloyd and I'm going to play these killer solos over the chords of this incredibly melodic song. If that's ok with ya'll"
Nick Verban jealous much ?
Best live version of this I’ve heard
What a fun rockin awesome tune to sing along to, just pure joy! 90s were awesome music
Richard Lloyd and J Mascis are my prefered signature sounds
One of the best songs ever! Period.!😊👍🏻
Matthew Sweet AND Richard Lloyd. What else do you need?! Brilliant!
He was the guitar player of classic New York band Television. Have a listen to their best album "Marquee Moon".
Maybe do your homework before throwing that "fuck" in there ...

The two mentioned plus Robert Quine, as I saw them play at the Milkyway, Amsterdam, summer 1993.. :-)
@@noblepath I’m confused. What “fuck” are you talking about?
Never "SICK" of Matthew and Richard :)
Don't know who the white haired drummer is but he's rock fucking solid on those drums.

Gotta love the 'ol false ending trick!
Damn!!!
Holy crap that 60s Epiphone, and beautiful Gretsch Bass.
well.. that. was. awesome!
I wanna see these dudes in person!
Last of the great guitar rock in this era
Y'all keeping coming up. Either zi just love y'all, or you are special. 1😅😅😅
Richard Lloyd starring in Night Of The Living Shred.
I didnt know Kevin Cronin played drums for Matthew Sweet!💁♂️
This is just great. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like Dando here. Great tune
He had Ivan Julian play w him when on Letterman in 95. Not to make less of Lloyd. Just a killer choice in lead guitarists is all I'm saying
And recorded 100% Fun with Rbt. Quine (RIP), also. Another great.

Holy fvck! Richard Lloyd!
Nels Cline must have went to the Richard Lloyd school of guitar
pretty much, yeah. nels has always claimed television as a major influence.
It's an interesting school. You should look up his lessons on here. It's mostly just him talking about Hendrix and Pythagoras
Nels Rules he's his own man....ya know?

When you think Richard peaked with Television ...
My thoughts exactly. Glad to have been proven wrong
This shit is SWEET! And that dude f'ing rips on da gee~tar!!!
killer

Thanks. I really like the sound of his drums and cymbals. Having a hard time finding a gear page for him.
Great song! Matthew Sweet used to have this kind of Neil Young look, now he looks more like Michael Moore!
Just an observation, but he has put on tons of weight. Perhaps due to a medical condition?
He got fat like Steve Miller did.
Man, do I miss 120-Minutes -- and when M-TV actually played only (or mostly)music videos, for that matter!
Those days ain't ever coming back.
Would've loved to see Richard and Robert Quine trading licks on this.

Another Winona Ryder tune ???❤
Wow Taratino was very good guitarist
I was so disappointed at the end when noone clapped for them.

Maybe Sweet was overtired, his voice was flat here. We all know his voice is far better than this.
Sweets voice sounds like shit here, good tune, tho, always liked it.
