    I like how Toby looks at the birds. He perpetually looks like he's worried and disappointed. Like he saw a duck poop in the water then drink from it.

      Maybe he's spending time laying under the duck house waiting for some fresh "treats". Eww. Duck poop breath and all, we still love him!

      Beware of RATS! Those are the bane of ane fowl raiser! They'll go after any age, bu obviously the more helpless(eggs) the better!! And they ADORE RABBITS TOO! WORST, THEY'LL BURROW UNDER A NURSING MOTHER, EAT THE EYES OUT OFVTHE NURSING KITS AND LEAVE THE BODIES STILL ATTACHED. MAMA OFTEN WON'T EVEN NOTICE. AND IT'LL BE HUMAN WHO CLUES IN.🤦‍♀️🤢😱 DEFINITELY NOT ONE OF THEVMOST KINDLY MEMORABLE MOMENTS IN YOUR LIFE, BUT ONEVTHATVWILL FOREVER ENDEAR SNAKES TO YOUR HEART! SNAKES BEING 💞 the most 💕 natural and prolific predators of rats.😎😁I let it be known amongst the neighbourhood childhood population that I'd pay a 5$bounty forveach live snake brought around. 😎🤣👏👏 didn't take long for that to spread...and was a good 4 months before anyone "tried" to release and recatch, so I THEN USED SOME TEMPURA FINGER PAINT TO ADD A NECKLACE TOBEACH NEW ADDITION FOR TWO DAYS. After that, I'm pretty sure the lesson was learned and didnt havevthe same donors showing up as often..🤔💞 or, someonectold the miscreants' parents...🤷‍♀️ really don't know or care. I'm just glad the rats disappeared.

    Allison’s decision to inter-plant flowers is genius and follows the age-old technique of companion planting. Many veggies do better with flowers next to them. Your tomatoes will be greatly enhanced by the basil being nearby-it can even give the tomatoes a slight basil flavor. Again... genius move, Allison! Companion planting yields great results.

      I don't have vegetables in the garden but I do have a ton of wild flowers I seeded this year and some butterfly bushes that do well every year. The butterfly bushes especially grown pretty damn big this year around and there are alot of bees in the garden which is great. It ain't much but atleast there is alot of insects roaming around. I also have a hedgehog living in the shed I think. my neighbours mentioned seeing one leave and the dog goes nuts every evening running inside the shed. Didn't hear them yet though I have heard hedgehogs once in the shed and when I went to look there were two hiding there making alot of noise. Never heard them before that day so I was wondering what the heck was going on.

      Ken Shaw I’m in Illinois and recently at my house we planted a small pollinator garden consisting only of native plants. Today I saw a bee drinking from one of the purple coneflowers and it’s little hind legs were covered in pollen. I’ve also seen a couple other insects drinking from the flowers that I think are also considered bees, but I’m not sure. They didn’t look like the typical bee, they looked more like flies. Either way I’m pretty sure they’d be considered pollinators.

    • @donaldmiller8629
      @donaldmiller8629 4 роки тому

      ninapleva ,
      " Weeds " generally are native plants that are growing right where they are supposed to be. It's usually our garden plants that are the invaders. Often from some other part of the world and from some other climate and we are trying to adapt them to our gardens. So , what is a weed ? It's a plant that is growing where we don't want it to be. A very beautiful rose bush with beautiful roses growing on it that is growing in the middle of your driveway , is a weed !
      There are a lot of wildflowers that are thought of as weeds. Queen Anne's Lace , considered a weed is a quite attractive flower. In actual fact , it is a wild carrot that is going to seed. Wild chicory has a beautiful blue flower. My Chinese girlfriend sees it as a wild flower and was out taking photos of them yesterday. Most everyone around here only sees it as a weed. The chicory root can be roasted , ground up and used as a coffee substitute. And on and on.

    • @vickiemeisinger9632
      @vickiemeisinger9632 2 роки тому +1

      Allison I really love the fact that you appreciate the beauty of weeds as well as flowers!! They truly are some amazing whales if we just take time to appreciate them. My father passed away about 20 years ago and one of his favorite weeds growing in the Midwest ditches are these beautiful cornflower blue weeds I don't know the name of them but they are a plenty all over the Midwest Iowa area... I have seven sisters or did have at the time, anyway after Daddy passed away, without discussing it with each other, all of us girls went to the ditches and dug a bunch of those weeds up and planted them into our gardens so that we would have those blue corn flowers drawing in our homes in yards. We have an annual sisters gathering every October and we just laughed and laughed to find out we all had the same idea. If anybody knows the name of those "Beautiful flowering weeds, I'd love to know❣️❣️It seems like they come on early in May and last through most of the summer till the heat gets really bad.
      I think your garden is so lovely and I like that you have a whimsical and natural way about it without having perfect neat littlerows, but rather let it have its own mix and "wildnesss" about it. Your plants looked beautifully green and lush and well taken care of and loved❣️❣️❣️❣️I really loved your garden skirt… It was as pretty as your garden was. In fact you reminded me and your garden of my grandmother in her younger days. We had so much fun together in the garden and she didn't fuss about "oh honey don't step on this", Or "oh honey don't touch that", but rather she brought a gardening basket for herself and one for me and we were just gather whatever we wanted to and sometime she did vies me or teach me about some thing and whether it was flowers that we gathered your vegetables we had the best of times in everything was mixed together like yours. I've never seen anybody grow so much beautiful plants from seeds as you have. So many people spend so much money on plants and yet look at the beautiful garden you have planted from Seeds❣️ CONGRATULATIONS ALLISON❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️♥️♥️♥️♥️🌺🌺

Allison does the work of our better angels in her day job, and then comes home and absolutely graces the farm and we know this because Morgan talks about said awesome wife in such a loving way on the videos, very seldom using "I", as a proper husband should. Always reminding us, this is a family process. Which leaves us to wonder if he is so bright, as to make sure he includes his wife, so that "fails" are shared as well as when he knocks it out of the park... I'm thinkin', very smart family...

    • @arakwar
      @arakwar 4 роки тому +5

      This far up north a greenhouse won't make it for all year round harvests. The main advantage is it's usually easier to maintain, weeds have a harder time to get in it, it keeps most animals out, and you can grow vegetables that prefer an warm climate. If there is heating in the greenhouse, you can even start growing things earlier.

      Well you should start of with a trio (three geese and a gander) but bare in mind geese can fly unless you clip their wings and ganders can become aggressive in the breeding season also geese are often effected by lameness a foot condition causing the feet to become easily damaged also look out for bumble foot. Also check your pasture for deadly nightshade and laburnum which are species of poisonous plants. Now onto breeds some breeds are hardy others aren’t Chinese geese lay well but can be noisy making them good guard geese but a nightmare for close neighbours also they can be very aggressive. African geese look similar to Chinese but larger and are more heavy. Geese need a lot of grass and grass is at its highest nutritional level in spring and early summer but is nutritionally poor in winter. Predators are a big problem just because geese are big doesn’t mean they can survive an attack from a fox loose dogs can also be one of the worst predators lynx are also big fans of geese (because they eat them). So hopefully you found that useful Michael outdoors.
