Toby looks so much smaller in his summer coat. I always love the Toby nose cams. I have a pro life hack for you, for the next time Toby blows his coat: go to a farm store and get a horse curry comb. It is a simple device with a flat leather handle and a vertical inch long metal wire that forms a loop with small serrated teeth on one side. Take the puppers outside and hold them by the collar, and take the curry comb with the serrated part and go *against* the direction of the hair and just stand there with long but fast strokes and pull the hair out. By doing this outside, away from the living space, not only do you not have to deal with the hair in your house and yard, the wild birds can use all the discarded fluff for their nests. You may have to repeat this several times.

Really love this channel! Although farming vaguely interests me, it’s really Morgan’s approach and way of telling a story that keep me coming back for more. I don’t watch this type of content and frankly don’t remember how I got started watching this channel but over the past 3 months I’ve binged the whole back catalogue and I really look forward to the new video. There’s a lot to be learned from a channel like this, the least of which is farming practices. Keep up the great work! I look forward to watching your farm grow in your vision.
Maybe you should add some straw inside the laying boxes for your chickens.... no chicken likes laying on wood. x) That might also be the reason they generally perfer to lay in the duckhouse.
I agree. That chicken hut just isn't very good for hens who want to roost or lay. No hay anywhere, and the daytime pen doesn't even have any nesting boxes at all! Although knowing chickens, you could give em a hundred boxes to choose from and they'd all still pile into the same one 😂

At 1:27 she falls through the cage and you can see his boot clips her, not sure if he did step on her leg. But from the looks of it in the next shot she is hesitant to put her weight on that leg before he catches her.

I introduced the 6 chicks I got this year to my flock of 4 hens at 7 weeks. The older hens didn't care until it came to roosting, where they bullied them off of their preferred perching spots. The chicks are now 17 weeks old and they're fully integrated and established in the pecking order. Good luck with yours Morgan!

Random thought: have you considered pond liner fabric to line your pond and bury it under some soil? Might be easier and/or cheaper than procuring clay.
Eh...thing is, the ducks will still try to drill and tear the plastic, and would end up ingesting it. Never underestimate a determined duck's ability to cause chaos (and expensive vet bills).
I love how farm birds can be taught a physical structure is their house. like obviously that doesn't exist in nature, so its really impressive they learn the routine and the location and everything. Probably even associate it with 'safety' simply because they are familiar with sleeping there.

I just started my flock Thursday my blue swedish ducks arrived and they are growing so fast! I was also gifted a muscovy duckling today at 2 days old and its getting along with good with my blue swedishs even with the age gap pretty surprised after a little bit of pushing around they are all acquainted and doing well! Ducks are awesome. Chickens are cool too lol just thought id throw that out there.
