I’m kind of glad your journal isn’t “cute” and that it doesn’t have lots of “scrapbooking” elements to it. It’s refreshing to see only WRITING. As the scrapbooking kind of journaling is becoming more trendy, sometimes I feel bad about my journal because it’s not as “cute” as journals that are shared across social media’s. It’s encouraging to see simple set ups.
Yes! I have been journaling since I was 8 and I always wrote, nothing fancy, nothing cute; except for my ridiculous doodles when I couldn’t express myself with words only. I switched colors, tried gel pens, fine liners, even regular graphite pencils and I am feeling great with my ball point pen right now. I searched for inspiration because I wanted to create things, do something different than my old ones and actually I found Tina’s channel a month and a half ago. I got inspired and tried scrapbooking on my journal, didn’t went well: because I am not creative enough to make collages and it took more time than it normally would, so I stopped and felt a little sad. Then I realized that what matters the most is that I do what I am comfortable with, (I am glad I paused only for a day, to be honest) so it’s great to see something similar to mine.
I genuinely wonder when the term "scrapbook" was replaced, possibly hijacked by those claiming them to be "journals." So many UA-cam "journalers" are what I would consider scrapbookers. I am a straight writer. My journals are filled with written out thoughts, emotions, and perceptions. I find the arts and crafts aspect beyond the realm of what I am personally interested in.

Even though I've been a viewer of Tina's channel for awhile now, I got into a journaling funk because I also searched for inspiration online but all that returned were the scrapbook kind of journaling and not just writing. I too have slowly been realizing that its about what I write, not how the journal looks. Best of luck in your journaling journey!

I had an experience earlier this year when I felt that I should perhaps begin embellishments upon my journals using things like washi tape, etc. Then I thought, ultimately, my purpose is to write ✍ and what did any of those accoutrements have to do with my writing? ✍ 🤔 I'm not passing ill-judgement upon those that enjoy using such things. I simply believe the term "journal" has itself become convoluted.
I love the intro. It feels like a chat about journals over breakfast with a friend. I think everyone would prefer a raw authentic you rather than an over edited one! Honestly editing is so overrated and boring. Authenticity is interesting and REAL 💚

I have the same fountain pen but in mint green. It was skipping the ink and I tried washing it but it did not help. I ended up using my nail buffer block with 4 different sides. Without the ink and the pen washed I drew horizontal 8 and started with the roughest side first and then changed to the softer. This solved the problem. I saw this on UA-cam video but with a proper very fine sanding sheet (could have been a special one). There was a caution that the nib can get damaged but I could not use the pen as it was so decided I have nothing to lose. And apparently Kaweco have this problem with nibs. I also did not want to invest in this sanding paper which may or may not help so I used the nail buffer thing I had at home and it helped. By the way nice to see you back!

One of my fountain pens stopped working after a flight, too! It was just a cheap Ooly pen so it was no great loss, but there must be something about the pressurization in the airplane that messes with the fountain pen’s flow… Just found your channel and I appreciate your realness about journaling. I first saw your video about life being “boring” because these days I feel my life isn’t worth journaling about. But I think years from now I will want to look back at something, even if I am not able to do all the things I want to!

As a fountain pen enthusiast it makes me so happy that you have a Kaweco! I love my Kaweco Sport- not to mention how adorable it looks, it's super portable/durable and writes very smoothly. I do find that it dries a bit too easily however, I've had to clean mine out multiple times even during regular usage because some dried ink got stuck in the nib. If you want a fountain pen that are both low maintenance and are lightweight, I'd highly recommend a Platinum Plaisir. It's cheaper than Sport but I swear this thing never dries, it still wrote perfectly after almost an entire year of being in my drawer with ink left in it! It's pretty durable as well, so you can kinda throw it around and carry it everywhere without worrying about breaking it. Either way, I'm so glad you're back and looking forward to seeing more of your videos!

I'm realizing sometimes it's much easier to talk about events in my past if I've journaled about them. We use the exact same fountain pen! I use green ink too (Robert oster green at night with a sack converter). Do you reuse the ink cartridges when they are used up? They sound so much easier but I’m conscious of plastic waste. Would love to know how you refill if you do!
I use ink cartridges and just reuse them. Once empty I flush them out and with a syringe put new ink in it. I've had the same 3 cartridges for almost 4 years!

If your pen was in your checked luggage in the plane then your ink cartridges were likely ruined by the low pressure from high elevation.
