I don't comment a lot but I just wanted to share that I've been following your UA-cam channel since 2016! Your journal flipthrough playlist has been so comforting for me to rewatch when I'm struggling and I'm so glad you're creating content again! Thank you for all that you do :)
I have been fangirling on you since 2017. Your videos are exactly like a friend's casual conversation. I watch them with a cup of tea in my hand imagining it being a face to face convo with you. You make a lot of difference to my life and you have taught me that journals don't have to be pretty. I infact have a journal entry dedicated to you... You are too precious for lost souls like me. Please take care. 🌻☀️
My journals are mostly just words too. Though I’ve recently been roughly drawing buildings and scenes from my dreams. I tried to make things beautiful once, but I journal very intuitively and spontaneously, so there’s never really time to decorate pages it seems. When the moment hits, I write.
You are always so inspiring when it comes to journaling, and it’s nice hearing you say how you like pure writing in your journals. I always see videos where people stuff their journals full of extra bits, but I prefer just to get in the flow of writing. Nice to know I’m not alone 😊
Oh Tina... You're such a wonderful, heartwarming human being and I'm so grateful for your presence. And I have to admit, the tea thing made me laugh out loud :)
Lol I love hearing how all of us try to explain the texture of wheat cork…and just can’t 😂 needs to be experienced to understand the magic! Haha. And I love that you are just staying true to you-if words are all you want and need, go with it ☺️
The best thing about journaling is there is no rules and your channel is great to watch as you can describe the journals, paper, pens and inks for us to try and explore. I love to look at others journals and why they are doing their journals the way they want to do them. Thanks
It is always such a joy to watch your videos! I can't believe how similar we are in what we love about journals and how we write and the last pages omg yes, I always feel SUCH gratitude on the last page! Aaah I love this community so much ❤❤❤
Great to see a “word’ journal! I just got myself a traveler’s notebook as a present for myself for starting grad school, and am hoping I can use it for notes for class, as well as get used to journaling and writing in notebooks better. I’ve been super digital for a long time and want to get better at writing in notebooks. Your channel is very helpful and inspiring.
I'm using a Danika58 notebook as well at the moment, and loving it. I keep my diary in a very similar way! mine is just a wall of words :) I write now because I need to get thoughts out and because I enjoy the physical feeling of writing (pen in hand, pen on paper), and that seems to be enough.
I just discovered your channel and am loving your videos! I, too, am an English teacher who also teacher Social Studies. I also find it funny how you skip writing on the first few pages of your journals. I do the same thing. Lol. I am now looking into getting an onion skinned journal…never heard of them before. And even though I have a few untouched journals to use, who says I can’t get that one and just put it in the stockpile to use later, much like I do with my books!
So, I was thinking of ordering myself a Documented Journey folio at the end of April to celebrate the end of the semester (grad school is haaaard omg), but if you have a promo code… I am definitely going to jump on this occasion! 😄 Also, please do not feel bad for not changing your journaling style if you don’t want to. I LOVE that your journaling style is just writing, because this is how I journal and you inspire me so much to journal and write more! (Also, yes to Catan 🙌 no we are not judging you for sticking your hand in your tea haha, and finally, you are just glowing! ⭐️💖 i love watching your videos on my tv curled up on a sofa with a cup of tea!)
Thank you (as always) Myriam for the genuine love & support. Means the world to me (and thanks for not judging me about the tea 😆) can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Documented Journey’s notebook cover!!
Love your videos Tina they are so heart warming. I love how much you love journalling. Its so infectious when someone is so passionate about something and it makes me want to immediately go and write something. Peace xx
Hi Tina! I’m Ashleigh and I am new to your channel! 😀 I just recently got back into journaling, I’ve always loved journals and writing but never really stuck to filling up a journal all the way. 😂 However, I just recently filled my first one and on my second! So proud of myself for doing this! Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and I am so happy I came across your channel! You’ve inspired me to really keep up with journaling and I just love your personality! Your channel is definitely my kind of vibe 👍🏻
Hey Ashleigh, I’m so glad that you stopped by 💜 congrats on filling up that notebook!! Isn’t it the best feeling?! Out of curiosity, what made you get back into journaling? Thanks again for being here 💜
@@OverallAdventures thank you! It is the best feeling because after all these years I finally have a completed journal filled with memories. So I wanted to start journaling seriously for a couple of reasons. One, I had a traumatic childhood that has left its scars on my life, and I use journaling now as a way to work through the hurt and anger. That's why it took me literally one month to fill my first one, I had a lot to get out. Secondly, I also LOVE to keep memories, I always have been a person who takes a lot of photos to capture memories and then also write about them to make them even more vivid. Lastly, I want to start journaling down events that are going on in our world today, like you mentioned. I loved this idea of yours when you brought it up because these journals are a part of history. Anyway, that was a lot, but I am thankful I came across your channel and happy to be a part of a journaling community 😊
referring to the Journaling goals section; I believe I am going to have to accept this as well. I just love the idea of being able to write everything and not worry on anything else.
Thank you for sharing this veido. I absolulty love that you are not precious with your journals as it allows to give a raw review of what you are using. your viedos are so helpful thank you. Also love your colour combo for Brie's cover. Thank you once again! ps glad you didnt cut can not wait to see this review for this as im a foutain pen user!
Thank you, Saskia 💜 I’m glad to hear that my videos are helpful! And it was definitely a good call to not cut this journal - thanks for the suggestion ☺️
I’m so envious of your writing style! I’m also a lefty but hold the pen tip below my hand. I’m 100% sure it’s bad writing posture and I wish someone had corrected me when I was younger. Anyway, I adore inky pens and fountain pens but I can’t for the life of me NOT smudge wet ink😭 I was considering the onion skin journal but glad I saw this. Thank you for sharing!
I’ve always wondered about ‘bad’ writing posture for lefties! Do you use fountain pen per chance? The lamy was tough for me at first grip wise, but now I love it
Just started my next journal. Size of the journal is important, and the quality of paper is very important. I use a dip pen, so I have to look for paper that is appropriate for that. The writing experience can be wonderful or dull depending on the paper alone.
Hi Tina! I have a couple random journaling-related questions: Does indexing your journal depend on which notebook you are using? Have you been indexing as you write or when you finish the journal? And when you write with fountain pen, what do you do when you misspell a word or write the wrong word? Do you cross it out, or is that wasting ink? Or do you just keep chugging along? Anyway, haha, that was a lot of questions. I hope you enjoy your new journal!
Hey Jessie! Awesome questions - I think I should make an updated video on indexing. In short, yes I still index but I find it (for reasons I still don’t understand lol) annoying to do while journaling, so I typically save it until I’m finished with the journal. BUT then it feels super overwhelming lol. I love the idea of the index, but still haven’t quite figured out the best way to make it work!
Have you tried the journals from Galen Leather? They use 52gsm Japanese Tomoe River paper, great for fountain pens. Journals lay flat in my experience. Galen is located in Istanbul, Turkey, but the shipping is super fast and the packaging is beautiful. Highly recommend them and any of their paper or leather products. I'm new to your channel, I'm a lefty too :)
My current journal is one of Danika58's Cosmo Air Light A5s. It is a pleasure to write on and it feels... Soft and buttery? I have noticed it makes my ink lay down a little thicker line than in other books but I don't mind it. I specifically love how it does of the p properties of any ink I put on it and it takes watercolor well. Unfortunately the one think that keeps me from loving the paper is that it is crazy sensitive to hand oil. The ink will bead up anywhere you have touched the page to much. This may not be a problem for everyone, maybe I just produce more skin oil, but personally i protect my page by resting my hand on another piece of paper which can be finicky. I still like the paper and will use it till it's full, but I probably won't stock up on it like I am Tomoe River 68gsm
I'd love to hear about how you started with foundation pens and handwriting! I learned handwriting in school but I'm having trouble switching to a fountain pen. I can't get my thoughts down fast enough and end up switching both my writing style to printing and my pen to a gel pen 😅
@Writing Wild Ok that's nice. Whether she does or does not is up to her. It was only a comment from a beginner my dear. No need to leave judgemental replies. 🤷♀️
Hey Jess! Thanks for the question 💜 I am similar - learned cursive in 3rd grade and didn’t pick it up again until a few years ago. I guess I heard sooo many people raving about fountain pens for writers (plus I was sick of my hands hurting all the time lol) that I decided to try it out! I started with Lamy since they weren’t too expensive and I’ve never looked back 💜 kaweko is a good place to start too! I wish there were more stores where you could play with fountain pens in person and see which one was the right fit though!
I’m also a lefty and my writing is also annoyingly large. Maybe it’s a lefty thing? And YES to struggling when notebooks don’t lay flat. Oof. And as a lefty, I love that you can write in straight lines on blank paper. I totally cannot. Heh.
I won’t be using my onion skin for a while but this honestly has me excited to use it despite the things you didn’t particularly enjoy! Glad to see you’re feeling better. :) I’m also kind of curious, since I know you like wider journals, if you’ve ever considered using a square journal? I think that may be an interesting experiment!
Ooooh I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the onion skin whenever the time is right for you to pick it up 💜 I don’t think I’ve ever seen a square journal! Do you have any suggestions?! I’m so intrigued
@@OverallAdventures I can’t wait to use the Onion Skin once I finish my massive 800 page journal! It’ll be a nice change. I’ve heard great things about the Archer and Olive square journal. If you want to take “squareness” to the next level, maybe you’ll find that’s your perfect book! Haha.
Hey Tina, a question for you, do you ever digitize all your journals because you have a lot and would like to ever have them forever on an app forever?
Hi! Another lefty over here! The ink colour variations is called shading, I usually use brown inks and they tend to do that. ... But why do you put tea in the paper? Is that a thing? I'm going to have to Google this! I would use a big drop of the ink I'd plan to use in the notebook 🤔 that sounds messy fun. Btw I loved your prompts for peace video, well, I love all your prompt videos. Enjoy your notebook, bye!
