    For the headphone jack removal, using a heat gun on the lowest setting, I applied a little heat. I used the plastic tool that came with my kit and went underneath like this gentleman is showing and would pry on one side then on the other side. Again use a little heat off and on to help with the removal. It worked great!

    Thanks for the video. It helped me a lot! I have a K20 v.....but it's about the same except I had to (unglue-with some heat from a hairdryer) the old screen from the frame, since my replacement screen came as just a screen (the new screen came with a little double sided tape on it, but I had to add some hot glue on the edges)

    Make sure to remove the antenna that sits right next to the earpiece. I say this because my new digitizer did not come with it.

    Thank you so for your video. Helped me in my quest to fix my new digitizer on.
    Things you missed out that made my life a little tough. The sensor attachment, the side buttons for volume and the side bar that has the latch to open the case. (You would have missed those because you did not exactly change the digitizer but take it apart and put it all back so its forgiven!)

    Several KEY PARTS are missing
    So I was glad I found this video to replace my screen assembly, but I learnt the hard way some key parts are missing.
    - First and foremost : MOST BOARDS WHICH YOU HAVE TO TAKE OFF ARE GLUED.
    So you really have to be super careful in removing them. This is especially true for the speaker, which you can very easily disassemble into two parts while trying to remove it. Not ony does Serg fail to mention this, but it's at this most critical part that his camera goes wandering off where the action takes place.
    I killed my speaker. It's only $10 if you can find one, but you may have to wait a loooong time before it reaches your mailbox.
    - While this may not be true of all screen assemblies you will find, several parts were not covered in this video.
    The left-hand side side panel, especially, the one with the volume rocker, has to be pulled out too. And the volume rocker itself. This particular hardware part is very touchy as well, replacing it anywhere short of perfectly will cause malfunction.
    There is also a very tiny bit which I had to take off my old assembly and put it back in the new one, and it plays a critical role. It's a rubber separator for the two sensors right beside the front-facing camera.
    Forget it and you won't be able to make any calls as one of the sensors is the proximity sensors.
    So thanks for the video, nice effort, useful, but some critical parts are missing.

      parts from Aliexpress come relatively quickly here in Norway. I stick to the V20 for various reasons, a used one now is like 70$. For me it goes without saying that all such walkthroughs should be approached with caution, be careful with every part and take it slow. Guess how I learned this. I have 4 V20 now 🤪

      Yeaaah I completely destroyed my speaker too. Pretty frustrating that his camerawork happened to be worst at what is arguably the most-difficult part of the disassembly.
      I ordered a replacement but it won't be here for a few days. Real bummer.
      Another thing he glossed over was the secondary microphone that sits right next to the speaker. I removed this and scraped up the ribbon a bit, not sure if it will work or not when I put it back together.

    When removing the earpiece at the top, as you are prying the silver box, the bottom piece that is sticky glued on the bottom, just might come off the earpiece box. Don't worry. just set it back on the box and you should be all set.

    This worked well. I may have damaged the ear piece, but will open it up and try again to place it correctly. That's probably the one thing I can easily live without. I tend to use the speaker phone for everything and it is fine. Removing the ear piece was difficult, but the rest was very easy. Your video was excellent. New screen looks like a beauty. Saved me big bucks.

    • @Thermite7777
      @Thermite7777 Рік тому

      Followup: Possibly using heat to loosen it would have helped. Didn't see that until after. Again, great video. A replacement earpiece is $3.50 on ebay. So, it's a low risk problem. Easy to replace with the new part if you damage it like I think I did.

    • @toogie555
      @toogie555 7 років тому

      Not sure what the digitizer is, but my glass screen came without the frame on the back. I had to heat up the screen with a hairdryer and then pry-scrape the old screen from the frame....then hot glue the new glass on. It seems to have worked though.

    Hi I am finding the instructions very good, but after removing the vibrator I have discovered there is no Ribbon on the Rear Camera, I am not sure how it connects or how to remove it. It looks Like I need to remove a number of Items to its right. Since there is this difference I am concerned about applying force to the front camera and Microphone in case something has changed there. Any advice?

    • @AnthonyMuscio
      @AnthonyMuscio 5 років тому

      Got It, just try and lift under the items to its right. Pops off.

    • @AnthonyMuscio
      @AnthonyMuscio 5 років тому

      It was not the rear camera as shown, it was the one that came away with the Mother board in the video, but did not in my model. Silver Square with black circle.

    • @AnthonyMuscio
      @AnthonyMuscio 5 років тому

      Because the same screen frame is reinstalled at the end it leaves out some additional work, the remove back button that runs up the whole left side needs to be moved to the new frame and I have not yet worked out how to remove the volume button from the old frame to the new. Sad :(

  • @chance4771
    @chance4771 4 роки тому

    I also applied a little heat to the vibrator motor directly on top and it also came up with ease...again apply JUST a little heat. once you feel to motor coming up, then stop applying heat a remove.

    Do not use this video unless you want to leave behind the top speaker, proximity sensor gasket and the volume buttons! Like me you will end up having to order and wait for lots of parts just because this person ran out of patience and skiped over crucial parts at the end.

    • @seanwatts392

      Dzenis Alickovic you can't replace just the glass on the v20.

    • @katf5222
      @katf5222 5 років тому +1

      The glass and digitizer are fused. You can replace just the glass, but chances are you'll ruin the digitizer trying to get the glass off and you don't really save anything.

    • @AnthonyMuscio
      @AnthonyMuscio 5 років тому +1

      There are instructions how to remove the glass only elsewhere, I decided I did not want to play with that and brought the combined screen and frame.

  • @jayfblank
    @jayfblank 5 років тому +3

    This video should be taken off the internet -
    1: You cannot see the speaker removal in detail (I broke mine puling it out - no big deal, but another 3-5 bucks)
    2: No mention is made for the antennae above the speaker (Am not sure how compromised connectivity is, yet - performance does seem somewhat degraded but bluetooth and wifi hot spot still work in fairly decent range)
    3: Not enough detail given to fragility of ribbon cables - VERY FRAGILE! (I ripped "selfie" camera cable and had to replace - another 4-6 bucks and TIME).
    4: No mention whatsoever of the volume button assembly.
    BAD BAD VIDEO!
    Fix or take down this video. I am flagging.

  • @grant8708
    @grant8708 4 роки тому

    downvote for not mentioning antenna or the left side plastic casing removal as it appears you just took apart and put together the same phone pieces which wouldn't require you to do those steps.

  • @philindeblanc

    This is helpful, but a hack job. screws are different sizes and need to be organized properly, and you can use less force on a number things. But helpful video...also a bad video. depends on if you know what you are doing. For Novice, this is a BAD video.
