I bought V20 phone from CellCow on Ebay.. A little over a year later the port is not charging, even after heavy cleaning and numerous chargers/cables. I'm thinking buying those magnetic charger will prevent this from happening again with a new phone. But either way 2nd hand phones are junk even refurbished ones. I repaired a charger port on a Galaxy s4, but it was far from a perfect repair. Im not going to try it again I just bought a new non-opened V30, im gonna also see if Cell Cow will give me a replacement just so I can maybe resell the phone. But yeah the charging ports get damaged from the cables I think, from the stress you put in them while docked in the phone. Wireless or magnetic is the best in my book.
I used magnetic charger right from the beginning but still managed to mess up the port. Local technicians are just scared to touch it just way too many pins on the port.
Hi, I just watched your video. I have an LG V20 that needs the charging port repaired. I tried charging it with a generic c port charger I bought to replace the original and I think I bent the pins because I kinda forced it in. Do you provide repair services? Would you consider repairing my phone if I mailed it to you and what are your fees? I have tons of pictures of my kids and that's mainly why I'm trying to recover the phone's function. Thanks!

to late..he made it look easy im pretty sure mine is fried, it heats up but cant get it removed i got wick, reflux and kit for it....nothing happening but sticky flux everywhere.
i am sure if i buy a whole new mother board i will lose everything

Seems to be a peelable solder mask. That's the closest product I can find. I had the same question as you.

I'm not sure if anyone else has asked, but what is that red jelly stuff you are using? I just knocked off a tiny resistor near the charge port and now need a new motherboard

My LG V 20 not holding charge it drops quickly when plugged into charger. Have to use computer charger C type to charge cell all other wont secure enough to charge. Can we send to repair probably port pin replace or battery..please advise. From California Leora T

How does adding solder release the port?
Adding low melt solder makes the Factory solder low melt so its makes it easier to remove

My LGv20 charges, but it has an issue where the audio won't play unless the USBC is plugged in a certain way, even without the USBC being connected to a power source. Any ideas?

you need replace the whole port,i dont know why lg was so moron this time and dont put the usb charging port in a separated module

how xan i troubleshoot if the charge port my V20 has issues holding charges and it shots off in 40%, also when connecting to a charger its say it on slow charge, is this related to the charge port ?

I know your comment was from a year ago, but in case you never found an answer, it's no. The port is directly soldered to the motherboard. Most phones have a separate daughterboard for the charging port, to avoid sensitive repairs like this, but LG neglected to do this on the V20 (all variants). It looks like they learned their lesson and opted for daughterboards on their subsequent models, though.

No, try to to force data tranafer through developer tools or change the cable

@@zika9921 I have this same issue when trying to connect to my Pioneer AVIC-8400NEX car head unit and launching Android Auto; it suddenly will not connect after a year if successful use. I do not know how to force data transfer via the developer tools. Do you know the sequence in developer tools?
