To whoever is going to follow this video and replace the full frame, do NOT forget that gold H sticker at the bottom left corner! Without it, your phone's external speaker won't work! That's the one thing that wasn't mentioned here. Otherwise, this was a really helpful video! It definetly saved me from going to a phone repair place and I feel like I don't want to go again!
Thank you for this reply. I was freaking out till I read this. The video's has it on there, but mine did not. I had to peel it off, oh so carefully, and stick it on the new one. Works like a charm now.
I replaced the screen and frame, now I have no sound from the speaker, I think I may have damage the gold H trying to transfer to the the new frame. Any thoughts as to where I can find the part?
Anyone having sound issues after doing this check the tape over the ribbon cable from the screen, the tape often covers one of the contact points for the speakers, you need to fold it in the corner so it clears the contact point on the motherboard. Thanks to someone on an Amazon review for pointing this out.
freaking legend, thank you so much! there are 4 contact points and I was only looking at the left two, had to open up again and see the ribbon covering the bottom right contact, under the motherboard. good looking out
Thank you Sir your video helped me replace the screen and lcd. I paid about $25 and salvaged a perfectly good phone by fixing the screen. Your video was very well done and I appreciate the time and effort you put in doing it.
Excellent; very nice; did it following this and saved 100 bucks from taking it to a repair store. One thing to add; 11 screws not 10. Thanks much. Oh, and my replacement lcd and screen had one more metal part on lower left corner to move; some metal coppery thing.
Thanks for this friend. Phone is old enough I probably should have just bought a newer model, but I went out of my way to find a phone with an easily replaceable battery and I haven't had it long enough yet to to take advantage of that feature damn it!
Awesome detailed teardown video. I only want to replace the glass, not the whole LCD (Glass is only $10). Is it possible to remove the glass without destroying the LCD?
This is one of those cases where the extra money spent is well worth it. Not heating it right or enough, out of alignment ever so slightly- just a bunch more what ifs that can ruin the effort of trying to save a few bucks.
thanks, two thumbs up for your presentation. You make it look easy. I'll probably go for the glass&frame. I just dropped mine on a city bus due to an impatient stupid bus driver. I would recommend when you first get a new phone out of the packaging , leave the thin coating of plastic on your screen. It helps prevent cracks due to slight or small drops on the ground and in normal use prevents knicks and scratches to the screen.
Awesome vid. Thank you I just ordered a new screen with frame. It seems alot Easier. I def will be coming back to you vid for the install. Keep up the good work brother. Much love from a aggravated father. Lol.
Timothy Paskal yes but the screen was glitchy after about 30 minutes of use. I may have gotten bad parts. The video didn't show electrical stickers that needed to be transferred over. That made it more tedious. I didn't buy the parts from the person making the video.
Did this repair the other day and this video was super helpful. Only thing is when I returned the phone to the owner she said the loudspeaker was no longer working. I don't remember seeing a loudspeaker piece when I took it apart, is it soldered to the mobo or something?
CellularProz I have a question so recently my screen for my LG K20 Plus cracked. I ended up buying a new LG K20 Plus and I still have the motherboard for the old one. If I decided to replace the new motherboard with the old one the phone should work the same and I would still be able to access all of my data from before right? Please answer me a soon as possible. Thank you!
I followed this video along with the tip from Trueblade1423 about the H sticker and it worked great! I am not tech savvy at all btw. I originally did not transfer the H sticker because the screen and frame I got from amazon had one already and I just folded the blue ribbon to expose all 4 of the copper pieces. BUT my speakers didn't work when I did that so I went back and actually transferred the H sticker from my old screen and put it right on top of the one in the new screen. I peeled it up using tweezers and went really slowly. Now my speakers work along with everything else so far.
Hi! I ordered my replacement screen from your link. Great video, by the way. However, after I put it all back together... my soaker isn't working in any app. (calls, ringer, alarm, music, UA-cam) The old screen has only a orange T shape tape in that area but it didn't look like it would come off. please help.
Excellent video, but I would like to mention that you forgot about the rubber gasket for the proximity sensor that is located between both of the cameras. Without that gasket, you will experience your screen constantly blank/dark when you place or receive a call.
My screen is really cracked but the touch works fine. BUT it has small yellow spot so i wonder if its ok just changing the screen or if the spot means the phone is more screwed than that
I have no sound from the speaker after replacing the screen and frame, I think I may have damaged the gold foil 'H' trying to transfer to the the new frame. Any thoughts as to where I can find the part? or other ideas as to how and why the speaker and ear piece are not working?
I followed the instruction and the new phone works great however the screen is getting very hot? did I miss something inside that is making the screen hot?
Anybody know where I can get the audio strip sticker or whatever it’s called, that he forgot to mention to take off. I three the phone away before I noticed that I needed it.
Great video, thanks. It help me replace the screen, however I need a little troubleshooting help. Everything seemed to work after the replacement was completed except the headphone jack icon is on like they are plugged in.and there is no sound. Hoping nothing got damaged, what would cause this? Phone not seeing what part? I did transfer the part not mentioned in video. Please a little help anyone.
Really good video tear down. It helped me tremendously and most of the video I was able to see what you did. There are just a few minor things that need to be noted (and this could have just been for the frame and LCD that I ordered). First off there are 11 screws not 10 no big deal. The 2nd part is when you removed the headphone jack it was hard to see how you got under the ribbon to pull that off. It is just aheasive so anyone doing this just take your time with the thinnest pry tool you have. Some heat would help here. The same goes for the ear speaker. Now one point that I feel was missed, again this could have been a miss on the frame and LCD I ordered but there is a ribbon cable to the left of the lcd screen that plugs into the motherboard that has to be moved over also. Mine did not come with one so i have to carefully remove it. Since it was not attached to anything solid and was just glued down, I really had to take my time slowly moving under it was a very thin flat head screw driver. It was simple enough once it was off to move it to the new frame. But again please don't take this as me bashing the video in any way. It was great and I could not have done the replacement without. I appreciate all the work that went into making this and giving me a guide to go off of. Great job!
Your comment was more helpful then the video... thank you so much. Im just trying to figure out, once i get that ribbon cable out, idk where or how to stick on...maybe you could help some more? Also there is this gray tape of some sort ... do i need to transfer that too? Thank you in advance if you see it
Moved gold cable for loudspeaker over but still no sound. The replacement lcd frame plus digitizer (the one from the link) came with some blue clear tape on the bottom board which conects next to the gold H for the speaker. Am I supposed to pull that clear blue tape off? Otherwise any other work around for the speaker, what is the tesla tape someone mentioned? Please help, fixing 9 year olds phone but of course :) Thanks-

I have an LG Fortune I desperately need some data off of. The phone still works but the screen is a goner. The model he is working on isn't the same, but it is very similar, enough so that I was able to follow along. My connectors are just in slightly different spots. I tried finding solutions to get the information off of it, and realized the best bet was to just try replacing the screen, so hopefully that works out.
Ok quick question so I've been seeing some comments on the loudspeaker and how you have to connect it again but do you have to reconnect if you replace the lcd or if you replace the glass with Lcd and frame a quick answer would help
Yamil Carrasquillo in the bottom left hand corner of the phone, remove the mother board and you should see a gold bar in the shape of an H. This is what the speaker connects to. Chet Manly Im in the same page as you. The loudspeajer isnt working and now I dont think he says something about it. I dont even know where its located
Yamil Carrasquillo oh I fixed it...if you look on the new screen on the bottom left side it's probably missing some gold connectors you need to transfer from the broken screen. They are glued in but not connected to anything
Ohh ok the thing its that I bought it with these conncetors already in the frame and lcd. Maybe they are damaged or they are not making contact with the speaker?
great video!fixed my phone in about 20 min. but everything is fixed but when i call someone the other party can hear me but I can't hear them. what could be the issue?
If you can hear them on speakerphone then it sounds like you either damaged your ear speaker or put it in incorrectly. -iPhone/Android repairman of 5+ years
When I got my Glass screen replaced, and the phone returned to me by the repairman, there was a white light in the middle bottom portion of the screen, and the picture was off; it didn't look as sharp as the OEM. Is this something I should inform my repairman about? Do you think he replaced the entire assembly and not just the glass screen? EDIT: From the looks of your part, seems like he had to have replaced the entire screen assembly.
This was excellent after following video it's all done just that son has a clear screen but it's kinda fuzzy background not clear as it was prior to him dropping his phone. What do I need to do? Those asking about the screws and speakers common sense you remove all screws he shouldn't have to be that specific it's just common sense. Then the loud speaker well he does show us to remove it. If it's attached common sense detach it from the other bottom part IF ur with the new frame which I prefare than using blow dryer to detach all that other stuff. Great gob Sir
What about the Orange thing at 5:57 next to the flex cable (here's a picture of it) - i.gyazo.com/92a93d08f650937d3a715eaa4f21bd43.png Do I remove this and put it on my replacement screen? Also what is it for?
Jacob Z Good info and thanks for replying. I ended up fixing my friends phone but was worried I might have been buying the wrong piece but it all worked out. :-)
One thing that didn't get mentioned is that there's a chance the screen you buy won't come with the ribbon cable for the speaker (I just went through this with a client) turns out I had to slowly peel off the ribbon cable from the shattered screen and place it on the new one. Not too hard just a little tedious and annoying that all parts weren't included.
@@vzdragon I had a bit of a struggle removing the gold foil 'H', used a hair dryer to remove it, however there was a black rubber strand that crossed the 'H' piece that ripped, hopefully that wasn't the ribbon cable that you're referencing
Hey am asking please if you can help me out please I have a LG k20 but I need a screen for it please I am asking you if you can help me out please with a screen please
Helpful Video, but you forgot to mention that the speaker cable attached to the back of the LCD screen needs to be removed and transferred to the new screen (for those of us actually replacing the screen). I had to tear into the phone twice to get the speaker working. Otherwise, this was very helpful.
I am highly skilled, but replacing the glass without the LCD is damn near impossible to do .. especially perfectly. The glass is glued to the LCD. high Heat (on plastic bezel) is the only way to remove it .. then you have to remove remaining bits of glue. One oops and its over. So I agree with those who say don't bother with the glass alone. To add insult to injury the company that sent me the glass .. send the LG K20 .. not plus so it was the wrong shape. finally a mined working screen from a reseller is likely better for an LG20 than a new one. I bought a new one via Ebay .. and though the fit was good and the assembly quality also high .. the brightness of the screen was 25% less than the original and I couldn't use it in sun. There is no way to know if you'll get one of these ..
My screen is unresponsive to touch, and teh screen works for 10 seconds and then goes black. I can turn the screen on and off with it being black and unresponsive to my touch. Someone please help
Me as well. I get stuck on the "secure start up screen" and am unable to type in my pin - unresponsive to touch. I re-checked the LCD cable and can't figure it out... any ideas?
If you got the screen off ebay from china its probably the sellers fault. I got mine from ebay, but from a seller that had some good reviews. After emailing them back and forth, they ended up saying that they will notify their supplies, get me a new screen, and tell the supplies to send a working screen. So I wait for the screen. If the screen works, I will tell you the supplies so hopefully you can get a working screen too.
Thank u So Much for this info and Video I have this same phone and people been trying to charge me a lot of money just to repair my cracked up screen. I said to them and myself I will rather spin a little money to repair it myself then let someone get over on me for it. I have the patience and time to do it Myself Now So Thank u so Much😊
Joshua Johnson I think it's the same breakdown... Just different internal hardware. If I were you I would just go get a new k20 plus or the ZTE max blade whish is the daemon price for faster processor and beer graphics. The LG k20 is 720 and the ZTE max blade is 6' screen with 1080

Hey am asking please if you can help me out please I have a LG k20 but I need a screen for it please I am asking you if you can help me out please with a screen please
thanks for your help
Helpful Video, but you forgot to mention that the speaker cable attached to the back of the LCD screen needs to be removed and transferred to the new screen (for those of us actually replacing the screen). I had to tear into the phone twice to get the speaker working. Otherwise, this was very helpful.
Thank you so much bro 🙏 my speakers wouldn't work and im glad I found your comment
where do I find that at because my daughter's speaker is not working
Great. Worked for me. Thanks
thanks mate, i just needed to learn how to take off that backplate so i can replace the camera lense. my camera lense is scratched to all hell
I followed the video to the best of my abilities but my sound doesn't work plz help
You need to move that gold H sticker from the old frame to the new.
Very helpful but don't forget to remove all the blue tapes from your new replacement
Do you lose your memory when u replace it ?
Priscila Sanchez not at all. I would back it up just in case, but I did not lose any data.
DJLittleRO thank you im order it tommorow
Lol
Very helpful!! Thanks man!!
I just dropped my lg k20 plus and cracked it gonna repair it myself when I get the parts I'm so mad at myself right now ;-;
Same here
Same. Literally just now. I was already having a bad day too.
My network doesn’t work anymore like the wifi won’t connect to UA-cam or anything
My volume is out of control now. Help??
You the MF bomb bro, got that shit done in like 30min and saved $70. Thanks!!!
Thanks. Glad to help.
once the LOUD music started, I forgot that I was fixing my phone & started dancing instead...
Thank you
Mine actually had 11 screws so that kinda screwed me up
Thank so much
How do you take off the frame? Not very useful
My screen is unresponsive to touch, and teh screen works for 10 seconds and then goes black. I can turn the screen on and off with it being black and unresponsive to my touch. Someone please help
me too.. i wanna know the answer to this question... mine does the same thing!!!!
Timothy Paskal did it worked?
the new screen? haven't even gotten it yet... :(
beautifool
i think you missed two gaskets at the top....
outstanding. ty so much man!!! 10/10 vod. this shit helped alot
Cool
Do you think that you can fix my phone?
What if my screw stip
hi
0:54 ugh bruhhh i cant do that
Waited for the part where you separate the screen from the glass just for you to say "yeah it's easier if you buy it with frame" wasnt helpful
you left out four items on replacement. Other than that, good video
MY GOD if that would take much effort i will just buy a new phone!
Fitst
Was an Ok right to the point tutorial, minus the DAMN Stupid Loud AF Music... Smh
I can’t get the screws out they’re proving to be difficult
Thank u So Much for this info and Video I have this same phone and people been trying to charge me a lot of money just to repair my cracked up screen. I said to them and myself I will rather spin a little money to repair it myself then let someone get over on me for it. I have the patience and time to do it Myself Now So Thank u so Much😊
Just trying to replace my motherboard
Funny this video coincidentally came out two days after mine. Lol.
uBreakIt iRepairIt well whether it did or not, this video was a bit more Informative then yours. You still had a great video though.
What if you have just the k20, not the plus? Anyone got a link to the regular k20 lcd screen?

What's the exact model number of your phone? It can be found under the battery or by going to settings and about.
Joshua Johnson I think it's the same breakdown... Just different internal hardware. If I were you I would just go get a new k20 plus or the ZTE max blade whish is the daemon price for faster processor and beer graphics. The LG k20 is 720 and the ZTE max blade is 6' screen with 1080
That was 11 screws
