I want to thank my mom for always buying me their albums as they came out, unless my brother beat her to it. Also, thanks to my grandparents who always gave me $20 in Christmas and birthday cards. Gave me the funds for their 45s. What a great time to be kid who loved music.

One of John's most vulnerable songs. He was really maturing as a songwriter. It's not that they pick the singer who fits the song best, but each writer knows how to write songs that really fit his voice.
As someone from Liverpool, whose teenage years were the 1960s, it's great to see the likes of you listening to and really enjoying The Beatles songs for the first time!

It's so great to tune in to watch your response to Beatles' songs. I grew up in the 60's, and my friends and I were as amazed with the songs and the huge variety as you are. Getting your first reactions to these and your thoughts is almost as fun it was the first time we heard a new one from them. Thanks for bringing a bit of that back.

And the plot kind of centers around your favorite Beatle...Ringo. It featured the Album "Help!" Thank you kindly, Miss Jayy! ❤
Allegedly this was a song from John to The Beatles manager Brian Epstein. They even used this song using a montage of Brian on their television special series “Anthology”.
Jeez! I had a Beatles calender from 1964, Beatles cigarette cards , posters, a Penny Lane street sign....aargh! I wish I still had them. I feel your pain. :)
Yeah Beatles did so many different types of music and genres Can’t even call them genres they were just geniuses Of course a lot of credit goes to George Martin and their producer he was a huge influence on them he was the fifth Beatle actually
One Beatles myth that I haven't been able to confirm or deny is the one that says this song is about Beatles manager Brian Epstein. Brian, as a homosexual man in England in the 1960's, had to keep his sexuality under wraps. As it was against the law. At Paul McCartney's 21st birthday party, a drunken John Lennon pummeled the Cavern Club compere and D J, Bob Wooler. John had earlier taken a private vacation with Brian to Spain. Bob joked to John "How was the honeymoon"". Bob was badly beaten and hospitalized with broken bones, bruises and contusions. He was paid off in an out of court settlement and never spoke of it again. In fact, this incident was the first time the Beatles appeared in the British national newspapers. I mention this incident because John was well aware of Brian's sexuality and the (at the time) importance for Brian to 'Hide his lovers away. RNB

The lead singer usually is whoever wrote the song. In the early days when John and Paul were writing together more, they sometimes shared lead vocals. They did have to decide in the early days who would do the covers when they would have one or two covers on an album, but they were even split up amongst the group. Now Paul's song Oh Darling on Abbey Road, John loved the song when he heard it and he secretly wanted to do the lead vocal because he thought the song was perfect for his voice. Paul sensed it and came in early before they were going to record it so he could get the basic track down so John couldn't suggest that he should do the lead vocals. I think Paul nailed the song.
LOVING your enthusiasm for Beatles music… you’ve got so much more to explore and I’m looking forward to your future reactions. Try a Paul song that doesn’t sound like a typical Paul song - Helter Skelter from the White Album
It IS a country song, it's a cover of song that was originally sung by BUCK OWENS. Ringo is a very big country and western fan (old school country and western from the late '50s and '60s.) So the Beatles covered a few, and they were usually sung by Ringo ( like "HONEY DON'T," which was a CARL PERKIN'S song).
I love John’s voice and this is a great example from the movie “Help”. Just love the grit along with the sensitivity. You’re doing a wonderful job with Beatles reactions Keep em coming honey 🌺✌️
You have got to see the Beatles movies A Hard Day's Night, Help, and Yellow Submarine. Great songs, visuals, humor, 60s atmosphere, fashions, and their personalities.
Pink Floyd was a band that used to 'test drive' a song to see who could sing it best - in the days when they got along! In one case they even got a singer working in the next studio to do it! Because their identities were so anonymous to the public it didn't really matter. With the Beatles it was nearly always whoever primarily wrote the song would sing it because they wanted to!
Oh, it's certainly a Lennon song, Jayy. A bit of Bob Dylan's influence showing on this one. Notice John singing "feeling two foot small" instead of "two foot 'tall'". A small example of the genius of John Lennon's songwriting.
The Long And Winding Road is my fave by them , not the naked version though . Phil Spector with his wall of sound was brought in to do backing with orchestra and choir, and what a job he did. He did the backing for you've Lost That loving Feeling and others
And kudos for you for appreciating Ringo. I think finally, people realize how important Ring was to that band, both musically and as a whole. He was so much an integral part of the Beatles that he understood the particular need for particular percussion for the song. Anyone listening to the drum beats on She Said She Said or Strawberry Fields can understand how he manage to use the right technique for the song.
I can't even TELL you how many times WE saw "HELP!" in the theaters We used to go to the movie theater for the first showing and sat through all day into the evening through the last showing. You could do that back then, at least HERE where I live. We did that a LOT during the theater run for "HELP!" and for "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT."
Not always, Paul had the most versatile voice in the Beatles with the widest range. He can sound like a different person depending on what he is singing. Take for example, "HERE, THERE and EVERYWHERE," "I WILL," "AND I LOVE HER," "A TASTE OF HONEY," "YESTERDAY," "FOR NO ONE." THEN listen to "HELTER SKELTER," "OH DARLING," "LADY MADONNA," "BACK IN THE USSR," " BIRTHDAY," "LONG TALL SALLY," KANSAS CITY/HEY HEY HEY," "I'M DOWN," I'VE GOT A FEELING," to name a few, and you can see how DIFFERENT his vocals can be. He is NOT always "high-pitched."
actually most of the time the one who wrote the song usually sings the song, that's most true for John and Paul, George sang his own songs too and he only sang one song that John wrote for him which was Do You Want to Know a Secret and another written by John and Paul which was I"m so Happy When You Dance with me (both of which were on the Beatles' earliest albums) From like 1965 on all George's songs were songs he wrote. Ringo, on the other hand, was the one that had the most written for him and I don't think he wrote his own songs until he wrote Don't Pass Me By which was on the White Album and on Abbey Road he wrote (with the uncredited help from George) Octopus' Garden. John and Paul and after the breakup George too wrote certain songs with Ringo in mind. But when they did cover tunes on the earliest albums and in the clubs I bet they all discussed who would sing the song. I guess they as individuals naturally gravitated more to singing certain cover songs more than others.
Only thing wrong with this song is too short! What a great tune. My 14 yr old (who knows everything about the Beatles) says usually whomever wrote the song sang it. Sometimes they wrote songs for Ringo specifically. George started writing his own but just couldn't get many on the albums (so Jacob tells me! LOL) Thanks for the reactions!!
Interestingly, this song by the Beatles was never released as a single, and yet everybody remembers it, and most people associate it primarily with the Beatles. (Lennon/McCartney did, after all, write it.) But the hit single of this song was by a group called The Silkie, an English folk group. John Lennon and Paul McCartney actually PRODUCED the single for The Silkie! HERE is the version of the song most of us grew up listening to on the radio: ua-cam.com/video/lNyy00Hjl2g/v-deo.html
That's John Lennon singing, this is actually from their 1965 comedy film "Help!". Saw that movie years ago on tape I rented I think, it wasn't a perfect film but quite interesting with good songs.
@Jayy-Whichever Beatle sang the lead of the song is the one who wrote the song. This was John singing this one. It's either going to be John or Paul singing. They wrote and sung the majority of Beatle songs along with George doing a few. Great song here and better reaction.
Basically, whoever wrote the song does the lead. There are exceptions but that is generally the rule. There are songs where John and Paul wrote it together and they either both sing it or one of them sings the lead if they wrote most of it. In this case, John wrote the song himself and he sang the song.
Most of the time whoever introduced the song or song idea did the lead vocals. John and Paul had a songwriting partnership because they wrote a majority of the songs. They would work on songs together. At first they wrote songs for George and Ringo. Then George started writing his own songs but couldn't get many of them on the albums. It caused tension later on and George was more than ready to go solo by the time the Beatles broke up.
Usually whoever wrote the song or the main part of the song would sing the song that's why their voice always work for that particular song it was written by them for them
To answer a couple of your questions: That was John. You've listened to Yesterday from help. I think maybe you did the title track too? Ticket to Ride is the next best song on there. Another Girl is good and if you want some Ringo then try Act Naturally (believe it's a cover but it's pretty nice).

Back in the day, we were always trying to figure out which Beatle was singing. Generally speaking, the Beatle who wrote the song is singing it. For the songs credited to Lennon/McCartney, one of them was usually the main writer.

You should watch the Beatles Help.....alot of more great songs from it. Ringo is on the tambourine
If you haven’t heard them, Paperback Writer and The Rain are awesome Beatles songs.
...along with their other 124 awesome songs.. :)
This is Lennon doing his best Bob Dylan. The Beatles had just met Bob Dylan a few months earlier and experimented with cannabis for the first time.
The one who sings a song is the one who wrote it, so if john sings it then john also wrote it
Help! was The Beatles second movie.
Its Lennon like an mf’er
i feel like i remember one of them saying whoever wrote the song also sang it
Lennon is my favorite singer but i lover them all
Yes this is John. When you`ve reacted to all their songs then you can react to their films.
Great reaction, one of my fav Beatles tunes. You should watch the various Beatles movies on ur movie channel 🤔
Typically, who wrote it sings it. Happy listening!
The way they decided who sang was pretty much whoever wrote the song sang it...except for Ringo, they would write songs to fit his voice.
For the most part the one who really wrote the song sings the lead vocal
I miss John
