Therapist Reacts to Dig by Mudvayne

- Therapist analyzes the lyrics of Dig by Mudvyne to discuss change and resistance to it. The truth is that change is inevitable, and when we resist this truth, we forefit the power we have to decide the path of change we go on. We can use this song as an anthem to dig our own path

This song was released when i was a teen and chronically suicidal and angry. This song gave me a place to put that anger. I love mudvayne.
That's awesome. Glad you found them. They were so much to so many in different ways. This album is a masterpiece the whole thing I just *chefs kiss* of everything all in one. And the more you listen to it the more you find. My least fav song was internal primates and like 2 years after getting rhe record I finally saw the beauty in it as I started to understand it. It became one of my favs. Glad to see you're still here. And good taste in music
@Jcikokalol thank you for your kind words. Yes, L.D. 50 was a masterpiece. I felt the same way about a couple of songs. I had to really listen to understand just how deep these songs went, both intellectually and emotionally
This is why music is so powerful!! Glad you are still here to tell your story!!!
Death blooms mudvayne next please
PLEASE 🙏
Up
Or World so Cold, never see people reacts to it
Yes
Yup
Thank god you went with the unedited version!
That really is key for this song. That squeaky clean version really ruins the entire thing.
Ok
Really?..........Ugh
I mean this is the worst song on the album, but it’s unbearable to listen to if it’s the edited version.
@@n.88.Lmao. Definitely isn't the worst.
The whole L.D. 50 album is a banger. Nothing To Gein is probably my favorite.
Cant really think of a non banger on LD50. My favorite is Pharmarcopia
Cradle is heavy as hell too
@@nukem8128 Pharmacopia is such a banger.
Mine is Severed. As a bass player, I heard that shit and it shook me to my core
Gein as in Ed Gein
I can't wait until you get to 'World So Cold' by Mudvayne. One of their best songs in my opinion.
Agreed 👍👍
Mudvayne has alot of great songs I could name off a list
That is a very deep song ❤️
In the metal community, Mudvayne is legendary. Please do more. They have a big catalogue.
I'm thinking singled out buy Diecast and through and through by Life of Agony it's kind of prescient at this point in time
“Death blooms” is a good one. It’s a deeper one… I think😂
Second this
it is, as it's a personal song. about Chad's Grandmother who was being ignored by family and chad was the only one who kept in contact with her.
Up
@@ScarysReviews yeah.. I was just wondering if I was wrong😅
I so agree, alongside -1 and severed
If you're attempting to do any sort of a deep dive, even though "Dig" is by far their most famous song.. they have SOOO many other selections to pick from with more lyrical layers. "Happy?", "World So Cold", "Death Blooms", "Fall into Sleep" and "Not Falling"... just to name a few. Best wishes.
world so cold and not falling i wanna say are more known, not falling was at the end scene for a movie too
She's already reacted to "Happy"
Scream with me is one of my favorites
Severed is my favorite
Forget to remember is a good one is featured in one of the Saw movies
Thanks Taylor for the uncensored version. I have notice you do that with your songs. Im sure the fans here appreciate it. As people have said Death Blooms should be next for Mudvayne
Internal Primates Forever is one of my absolute favorite Mudvayne songs, a varied and moving song
Fun Fact: The Red Faced Guy with all of those black "horns" around his face....They are painted bugles chips. hahaha!
No way
dang you beat me to it, lol
🤣🤣🤣
still after all the years one of my fav songs!
Iv been waiting for this song soooooooo much. It's one of my favorites
Legends. They came in at a perfect time when the mainstream was pop and boy bands.
Mudvaynes "Nothing to Gein" is a must react.
100% agreed
Scream With Me is one of my favorites 🤘🏻🔥💥🙏🏻💯
same
Saw mudvayne at rockville 21. I remember the screams when Chad came up on screen and had the clown makeup on. What a special moment to be there for. They are back and it's raw as fuck
Clown makeup!??
Holy hell...you did very well at deciphering the lyrics. So many would just hear it as noise, but you picked it up so quickly. I've seen a few of your video's so I shouldn't be surprised...but I'm still legit surprised.
I’ll never forget hearing this song for the first time. It was near the end of my freshman year of high school and I had heard of Mudvayne but not their music. I was hanging out in the drafting room after school one day and much to my surprise, my teacher heard of them and one older kid started playing Dig through the computer speakers that were just cranked. All of a sudden BANG!!! The song came on and it felt like a bomb went off inside the drafting room. I was like “what the hell is this?” That’s what did it for me, I became an instant fan.
That's f***in rad
Dude HER Face reaction say it ALL❤😂❤
Severed is an amazing song. For sure should check it out.
One of my all time favorite songs.
Of all the songs Mudvayne ever wrote, Severed is the one that blew my mind the most. It hit hard after my divorce, even though I had known the song for years. Powerful.
Probably the best off the head analysis of Dig I have ever come across.
These videos are so good, like miniature therapy sessions through music!
Love it ❤
Great explanation of the deeper meaning...I DIG it
This is the best analyzing I have ever heard of this song. Thank you.
I subbed because it is nice to see some one who tries to understands metal on both the lyrical and mental health aspects. Metal is a home for a lot of that have been thru hell mental health wise and can not find a outlet for the anger we hold inside. A crazy thing that a number of big metal names have in common was child abuse and molestation. Metal gave these people a voice and a outlet to voice their pain and trauma.
I need a therapist that can be as easy to talk to and to explain myself to. I love the way you explain your ideas of the music that I love to listen to. I've seen a couple of your videos and I am so taken by the way you come across. The facial reactions you have are also freaking awesome. Keep it real!!!!!! Respect!!!!!
lol i love that you do the "nasty face" and enjoy the riffs but still manage to enjoy the lyrics as well lmao its amazing
I’ve been waiting so much for you to do Mudvayne. Phenomenal tune. Have been a fan since day one. They keep saving my life. I have recently believed something or someone else has buried me to a horrible suffering place and I need to take it back. Take back the shovel. Thank you for not censoring it. -1, Death blooms, Goodbye… More please.❤
I will always remember stumbling across this song/music video on Headbanger's Ball when I was in the 6th grade. It is safe to say that I was fundamentally changed from that moment on.
Always good to see local music getting attention. Even if it's older
Great video. Honestly you opened my eyes to some meaning I never noticed in the song.
Such a beautiful therapist. Luv ya!❤
HELLYEAH is a great band, during MUDVAYNE'S hiatus, the lead singer Chad Gray and Vinnie Paul from PANTERA formed HELLYEAH, "YOU WOULDN'T KNOW" is my favorite song, they also did a cover of Phil Collins' 80's hit "I DON'T CARE ANYMORE"
Thank you for not just reacting but actually breaking it down some lyrics. You earned a sub. Mudvayne rules🤘
"always hopeful yet discontent
He knows changes aren't
permanent but change is"
It's a really interesting interpretation I'd never thought of before
I love this band one of my favorites I have seen these guys so many times in concert.
Remember so much when this was released and new... really loved it and have the cd somewhere
i am from there hometown grew up listening to them before they even had a record deal. love there music helped me through some tough times and find myself and help me be myself.
This is my first video I've seen of you. You popped up on my recommendeds. I really like your energy and your interpretations and descriptions. And your energy. New sub from me.
I love this for a reaction video. A Therapist talking about the lyrics. Great idea!
i love how she turns flabbergasted by the "let me help you tie the rope around you neck" part
First time I saw them was 4/08/01 fully decked out same as this video. One of the best shows ever.
My interpretation of the bridge section of the video, where the black lines start spreading across Chad's face, is that it's a visual representation of someone reaching their "breaking point".
His mind is cracking up and he's about to EXPLODE with rage.
It's either that buy him hating the music industry or it's the addiction taking him down
I like that concept. It kinda fits with how I saw it too. Late teens, coming out of an abused upbringing, the rage suppressed through childhood bubbling up as furious hate. And because self harm and suicidal impulse was what I knew it became the ultimate concept of destruction. When I hated someone I wanted to hurt them. Violence against them was one thing, but when the breaking point arrives, I tip over into making them hurt themselves.
Another though I had later: someone, an abuser, a corporate manipulator, a person in power, is trying to force me to do what I dont want to do, to do that which harms me, which destroys me. Well I'm gonna turn that abound on them, make them do what they dont want, to damage or destroy themselves instead.
I am seeing them live with All That Remains and Megadeth in August. I cannot wait. Gonna be epic.
Saw them earlier in the year here in Australia, you are in for a treat.
Ryan Martinies energy is off the charts
I liked this song in middle school. Still like it now!!
Never heard this song before today, I couldn't understand any of the lyrics but this chick can't be rattled and interpreted it. Keep these videos coming!!!
I love your reaction it's surprising and cute, I grew listening this type of music 👍🏼🤘🏻🤘🏻
Uncensored version!! YES!!!
the thing about change makes me think of how much I struggle to deal with it cause I sometimes feel like I've forgotten things or people that use to be close to me in the past
Thanks I really appreciate you video and now I better understand the meaning of this song
this was my anthem in 09' man it was a tough time and i was an angry teen but the nostalgia gives me nothing but happiness, so strange.
One of my favorite songs...
We need more. Please
I love your interpretation of dig. It makes more sense than what I originally thought. I always figured they were singing about if someone wants to commit suicide, well, let me help you if that's the way you wanna go. Just goes to show how different people interpret things differently.
Severed 🙏
Amazing reaction, lady! The next one by then need to be DEATH BLOOMS.
Yes!!!! Death Blooms has so many emotional layers and context.
theyre a great band, i just saw themlive recently (they closed with dig too!). i loved the analysis here, great take on mudvayne. personally ive always viewed the song as a dichotomy between a past and present self, like losing sight of who you are. the new version of the fictional character is killing its past self to fit in and be accepted by the aforementioned "biz" but finding it feels more lost than ever
"Do What You Do" is another good one to check out from Mudvayne
I'm not going to lie: seeing our dear hostess practically short-circuit over their makeup was absolutely hilarious. Wonderful interpretation of the lyrics, though.
I’m 44 yrs old and mudvayne has been my therapist for almost 25 yrs now..
I have been waiting for you to see deathblooms more than anything in a long while
i love her face as soon as the lyrics take the sharp turn in content at the end of the song XD absolutely shook by the things she is hearing
Fantastic bass player there, great band too 👍
Very good, good reaction the músic of the 90'...🤟🤟
Eye of the Enemy, The Shift. Only song that can make me cry ....and 🎶the 4 right chords can make me cry🎶-3rd eye blind....🎶it goes like this, the 4th, the 5th, the minor fall to the major lift🎵- hallelujah.
My "legs day" day sunny! It gets me so hyped!😁🤘🏾
The entire album is a master piece.. -1, nothing to gain, death blooms, internal primates ect.. Severed is my favorite song from them out of all their albums.. helped a lot when I was kid not living the best life
I remember watching this video in high school on MTV:X. The visuals like in the white room always reminded me of what was going through my head. The white parts were always open to perception while the black was like my fucked thoughts.
finally get to see them this year with my dad hopefully. Hes having liver issues after his transplant almost 10 years ago so im hoping hes healthy enough to go and the last two years we've been going to see bands we both like. Last year was Lamb of God and Pantera, this year we have All that Remains, Mudvayne, and Megadeth. Megadeth is a childhood favorite for my dad so i got front row for this one same as the pantera one
we are new to here and this is so good Also IMN is our fave track
Heard this live before it was even a single... heard it live again a few days ago.... Always gets me because I get this song....
Was 'a few days ago' in Columbus, OH?
@@russellhoyt588 yep. Went all 4 days.
@@franzwohlgemuth2002 Same here, every year since 2009!
I would so love to see reactions to any Meshuggah, especially Closed Eye Visuals or Straws Pulled at Random.
keep up the amazing work mudvayne has so many great songs - world so cold, do what yo do, scream with me, death blooms, fall into sleep, forget to remember, happy, not falling, severed, dull boy, never enough, shadow of a man, nothing to gein
the singer chad grey has another band called hellyeah - human, moth, hush, 333, love falls, x , oh my god, welcome home, i don't care anymore, hellyeah, you wouldn't know, hell of a time, sangre por sangre (blood for blood), demons in the dirt, be unden!able, cross to bier (cradle of bones), black december, leap of faith
Such a good song
This is so late 90s early 2000s... Reminds me of toxicity, last resort, there's a limp Bizkit one too... They all do the weird super close up love instrument thing
Great reaction. I use your hreakdowns to explain someof these songs in my music in recovery class. Then i ask them to like share and subscribe because your channel is awesome
'Blackbird' and 'Watch Over You' by Alter Bridge are some of the most poetic expressions of grief I've come across. I hope you listen to them sometime.
Great digging action.
Awesome choice.... Buuuuuut
SO. MANY. SONGS. To choose from........
Print out Mudvayne's full discography and, throw a dart. BOOM BABY.
This band is absolutely incredible, the songwriting the music the timing the time signatures the production the mixing..... EVERYTHING IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
You have a new Subscriber 🤘❤🤘
Take care,
~Jonny5🥁
She needs to do “ determined“ his scream is so primal
I just love that the guitar player has latexed bugles snacks on his face. True story.
I love this song
“Changes aren’t permanent, but change is.”
Ms. would tell me where did you get the video without censorship? thank you! and great channel
I’m new to the channel and love watching people discover music!!!! That being said please pick a type of negative song
I love watching you react to metal and stuff and I wanted you to react to "Faget" by Korn because it discusses a lot about Jon being bullied and i wondered if you could analyze it better
I love that she has the lyrics.
Scream with me & death blooms by Mudvayne. Better Man & Moth by Hellyeah(same singer as Mudvayne) Also check out The Amity Affliction & Badflower. Also Epiphany by Stained & Hesitate by Stone Sour
That whole album is great
This woman is amazing.
😂😂😂 I love the positivity! Even the album title for this song is about death. LD 50= Lethal Dose-50%
"The releasing of anger can better any medicine under the sun."
I would highly recommend the somg Manic by Wage War or Constance by Spiritbox to react to sometime. Both are great.
Mudvayne is on of the greatest. You need to go down the rabbit hole. Death blooms is about his grandmother, then -1 and cradle are awesome also!!
He was the singer of HELL YEAH, and you should check out the song "Moth".
Do you know the Dutch Band "AmenRa" with their Song "a solitary Reign"?
I'm a physical Therapist from Germany who works with disabled children. I had also some issues with depression and your Channel helped me in some ways to understand myself better.
Given the background story behind "Nothing to Gein", it would be an interesting pick as it reflects on the convoluted mind of Ed Gein.
