Edit: Since a lot of people are asking, I'd like to clarify something about BnS vs. Bipod, since I glazed over this a little when recording this live: Bait and Switch and Bipod have similar total damage numbers, especially when you consider that you are almost definitely not getting all 8 reserve rockets with BnS off on day 1 without using RDMs, which aren't really the best pick on day 1 for most players. While "dump all heavy then dump special" is a legitimate damage strategy, a lot of the reason I make videos like this is is in response to players requesting more reasonable, uniform damage rotations that will leave you with a more even distribution of ammo at the end of every phase. That's another reason why Bipod is more consistent: it syncs up a lot cleaner with weapons with longer firing times like the FTTC IKELOS and The Eremite. As soon as you try to extend a rotation to cover a phase longer than 20s, the worse BnS becomes without dumping upfront. That being said, am I swearing off BnS for this day 1? Absolutely not. Given how the leveling system has changed this season, I'd be a fool not to bring both rolls into this day 1. While I may have been more one-sided in the video, my official suggestion is bringing both rolls into the raid, and seeing which one better suits the encounter at hand. Long phases where sustained fusion/sniper fire is going to be valued? Traversal encounter with large groups of minibosses beforehand? Bipod is your guy. Short, burst phases where you can't dump Bipod as easily within your damage window? Bait and Switch is probably the way to go. --- At 15:17 I've corrected the Bipod total damage number, so it now sits at around 2.22M - I still think Bipod is the safer pick for a day 1 environment IF you are using a more extended rotation which is more appropriate for a 30+s damage phase. If your loadout is capable of dumping at least half your rockets within the first BnS proc, then Bait might be a better idea, but otherwise Bipod is the safer, more consistent pick. Crafting both is a good idea regardless of the end result, and it's easier than ever to have two rockets leveled :)
If we use a rotation like that it would be better to use foetracer as a swap after star eaters right? That way you can run three kinetic surges and still have x4 surges on your rocket and sniper. This would likely be higher total damage

My problem with bipod on a contest raid is the fact that after the first phase, as 99% of teams arnt gona 1 phase on contest, the amount of anmo needed to refill reserves fully is too high to be consistent without aeons or cenotaph, which require a higher amount of major enemies and coordination from teammates, whereas bait and switch only requires 7-9 instead of 12-14. So if you dont fully top off ammo for the second dmg phase, your dps is gona fall off a cliff
The main reason I'm so comfortable recommending Bipod here is because D1 CE strongly suggests a huge presence of Cenotaph/Aeon-viable targets in every encounter, on top of Bipod rotations shifting the balance towards your other weapons rather than eating up your rockets upfront unlike BnS. I feel like Wish-Ender is a little underrated. Even when under-leveled it hits like a truck and one-shots most red bars, does great solo DPS for a primary ammo weapon, and works ok against barrier champs. With kinetic siphon and a bunch of adds, it’s an orb printing machine. And it works at range and supports peek-shooting. At close range you can hip fire.
Gonna be an odd ask but whats your opinion on using eyes of tomorrow for ad clear in encounters such as abyss with the changes allowing it to essentially never run out of ammo if used properly

Re: Bipod rockets. You might want to check out the new seasonal strand one (Semiotician). It can roll/craft with bipod and field prep, which pairs well with its origin trait that boosts reload speed (not much, but it helps). You can reload this bad boy very quickly and just spam rockets.
have you considered foetracer as opposed to lucky pants on hunters? since if you run solar specifically you get a higher surge bonus for apex and ikelos, plus you are free to run triple kinetic for izzy. I dont have the mental capacity to work out the numbers but the only extra req is throwing a grenade or melee before you fire off apex
Some really great info here, I appreciate your videos a lot. Question though, you mentioned Graviton Lance on void hunter, do you think that's a better option than using Le Monarch? Thanks
I agree with alotta this but I really think witherhoard should be in everyone's loadouts even if it's not top tier dps as not everyone can apply it. It's still amazing for safe ad clear and killing high health bars enemies since you can shoot them then stay safe or in the first encounter shoot below you and all the thatll will die in it
aegis first of all, amazing video, really good stuff, question: with your eremite roll which mod would you use, backup mag to maximize envious assasin at max reserves w 3x solar reserves at 20? or boss spec but having a maxed envious at 18 instead of 20?
I know you went over it but for ikelos sg what would be the roll you want? I know you said cascade point/surrounded but one thing I just don’t know is the magazine to use for it because it doesn’t come with assault mag.
Do you have an opinion on Divinity rocket swapping for LFG scenarios? It's a lower % than Tractor (though nothing preventing someone else from also using a Tractor/30% as well maybe?); you can still provide a crit bubble for utility (more or less useful, depending on the weapon used)-and notably, unlike Tractor, you can swap back and forth with an ALH rocket (with something like Wolfpack, I assume this is decent damage?) and keep full uptime on the debuff. Only asking because I haven't seen it on any proper charts, or discussed much at all. Curious if there was a memo about the strategy I missed! 😅
Thanks for this huge help! Very helpful I'm not sure I've undestood in what bipod is better than BnS because the 2 options are around the same total damage and BnS has more dps. You prefer bipod for the economy? you have more rockets so it lasts longer which makes you less likely to waste your special ammos afterwards? Well can't you just take BnS, use all your rockets and then not shoot with your special if it is the problem? Or you can use all your special if it is last phase. I just feel like taking BnS gives you the choice to do the same as bipod OR do more damage but using a lot of special. I mean i really cant understand why it should be better to take an option with the same total dmg (even less as i can see in the comments) and less dps than BnS.
Unless you're using all 9 rockets back to back within the first BnS period (which incentivizes disproportionate dumping of your rocket), Bipod is the safer pick overall, although I'm not swearing off BnS in its entirety - it's still a good pick
A few unconventional DPS strategies to maybe give a glance at. I'm going to modify your first one and say that rewind/bns supremacy, tesselation and, bipod recon apex could be an interesting pick for solar warlocks (or titan if pyrogale is applicable) Use Starfire for the 2x nade charge, Before damage, pre-load your fusion rocket and get your nades fully charged. Then once damage starts: Slap down a well, fire your 4 rockets, fire your fusion rocket and load another one, empty your supremacy mag and reload, swap back to apex and repeat. And theres also a broodweaver super, cataphraxt with envious bns and nox perennial with envious controlled. Nothing too fancy there. Open with a super, fire your energy and then your fusion, then keep shooting your gl until bns runs out and repeat. Once you're out of gl ammo, just use the nox since that should have decentish dps.
The rocket damage rotation that you recommend requires someone running gjallarhorn right? And to confirm, the gjallarhorn player runs: Supremacy w/ rewind rounds & enhanced kinetic tremors Ikelos SR w/ FTTC & focused fury and the cycle is: - 1 gjally shot - 2 supremacy shots - 4 ikelos shots and reload Question: should we run enhanced focused fury on the Ikelos SR?
Parasite is an amazing heavy for prio target killing. Brought it into Day 1 VoW and it one shot glyphkeepers in challenge mode. Can't recommend it enough on priority target fights.
This guy KNOWS! Quick question: If I’m matching surges with apex, would it be better to run the eremite or cartesian for pure damage? My roll has lead from gold on cartesian, so that’s why I’m leaning towards it. But if eremite has more damage / better for rotations, then I may use that! What would you recommend?
Acacia's dejection is quite good to run on solar with incandescent. It helps keep the restorationx2 buff up when enemies are not close enough for incinerator snap. If not on solar, acacia is definitely much weaker and not worth bringing.
So, for the long range extended damage rotation, why Ikelos over Distant Tumulus? Wouldn't Tumulus fulfill the same role (especially with manual reloads) but with slightly higher dps? Feels unrealistic that you are going to be using the full reserves to the point where ammo becomes a concern with your secondary sniper
Why do people keep speculating that Malfeasance will be disabled? The slug explosion is unstoppable. The hand cannon itself is not. That's why overload works. Does it do a ton of damage? Sure. It's an exotic with vorpal and HCs just got a needed buff. Does Lucky Pants make it a viable DPS choice? Absolutely. Does the exotic have a 100% uptime? Not at all. It's more like 45% because you have to reload before stowing and there's a 10-second cooldown. You also have to weigh which surge mods you want to prioritize. It has a microscopic amount of ad-clear potential that Sunshot puts to shame. It is only good at one thing. And it has to be on a hunter. IDK why everyone's crying wolf.
I have a question or two about loadouts/damage phases. Lets say that I am the arc hunter and I've been running the 3 weapons you've mentioned for your hunter day 1 video. Is it better to stick with tractor as the heavy and just refresh occasonally while doing special dps or is tractoring a boss then switching to a star-eaters loadout with Izzy, Ikeos sr3 and apex better/ more consistent dps?
Really depends on your team's ammo situation, in an optimal scenario you're applying Tractor, swapping loadout, using Shoot to Loot to get heavy, then doing damage while refreshing Rapid-Fire Ranger, but honestly sticking to Tractor and a sniper or fusion is a much safer choice
Hey Aegis, you've probably answered this before but I wanted to know what mods you would equip on your loadouts, like reserves vs resistance, more scavenger mods vs surges, or ammo finder/scout, and if that would make a primary ever worth using? I'm also curious whether weapon kills have higher ammo drop rates vs ability kill, it's just something I feel might be true but don't know. The thing I'm most concerned about is ammo, since bosses like Oryx and Daughters had no finisher targets to generate heavy off of for day one. Do you think this might happen again?
I would have a reserves + scavs loadout, a finisher loadout, a mechanics loadout, a damage loadout, and maybe a final stand loadout. If you're planning on starting with double special, keeping a primary in your back pocket isn't a bad idea either.
@@TheAegisRelic Thanks for answering, I also was wondering about bipod. After some gameplay, I noticed(I think) it gets 5 rockets with 2 reserve+scavenger, but with BaS, and 2 reserve, you get 5 rockets per brick too. Doesn't this make BaS more ammo efficient?
nvm just tested, got 3 shots per brick on BaS, I think the bipod ammo bug got fixed btw? I tried 3 reserve bipod rocket switching to leviathan's and only got 7 shots.
Nice video! Do you have any opinions in regards to using techeun force or loaded question in certain mid-range damage rotations? I’ve been testing out a few smog rotations myself and these two have been synergizing well with Malf/Iza and Apex
Would it be worth it to bring LFRs? I have a crafted Apex (kalli go brrr) but i feel like Deathsinger standing still would probably be easy to crit with them
would felwinters lie be a good alternative option to mindbenders if you dont have a surplus vorpal roll or is the low handling and full choke reduction not worth? great video by the way
Hey, great video! May I ask what would be your go to damage rotation for the Gjallahorn user? and which class would be the most optimal to run Gjally with?
When you're using merciless for damage, do you ramp it up to full speed before you proc impetus? Or after? Or does it depend on how much ammo you have to work with
What would you run on an Arc Hunter with Tractor? You mentioned before that with Tractor having it's duration boosted Rapid-Fire ranger by 25 seconds, you could just dump trace ammo into a bosses head afterwards and theoretically just swap to a different heavy. If you do that you lose a lot of heavy though, when I swapped from Tractor with 19 ammo (double reserves -1 for the debuff application), I only got 6 rockets with a Bipod Apex. Is it even worth swapping at that point if you're only getting half the default reserves for Bipod Apex?
Apparently it only refreshes Tractor's duration, meaning it goes back up to 10, but you can still proc it indefinitely just by shooting a boss in the head. Whether or not you swap is up to you, it's really just a suggestion to try :P
Hey Aegis! What do you think of Syntho-strand titan after getting banner of command. Ive been messing around with it and feel it has really good survivability and damage output. I just don't know how it compares to hammers
For those, like myself, who prefer just using a single special and heavy rotation rather than double special and heavy rotation, what would be best? Izanagi + rocket bipod/bns?
Hey Aegis, what do you think of the new strand rocket Semiotician? Is there any merit to field prep bipod for the extra reserves or is anything without reconstruction not worth considering? Also, the Until it’s Return has trench and cascade like Ikelos but ALSO has auto-loading, it’s not solar but maybe it’s worth trying
auto-loading is the most important part of getting a damage rotation going which rockets excel at, and field prep+bipod is kind of redundant because it hits ammo reserve max and you can already do that with just 1 of those options + reserves mod swaps. Semiotican is high-impact so it has lower damage than adaptive and aggressive rockets anyways, and strand surge only matches Until Its Return and Nox Perennial V which aren't better than their energy slot counterparts - Eremite, Ikelos SR and SG, and Sojourner's which match Apex Predator on solar surge. Furthermore, strand special weapons mean you aren't using a kinetic special weapon which does 15% extra damage for free; solar/arc/void weapons don't have that opportunity cost, plus there's no energy slot Izanagi's Burden for swap rotations. TLDR No auto-loading, lower base damage rocket, worse surge matching.
precision frames -10% damage high impact frames regular damage adaptive and aggressive frames have +10% damage. because semiotician is high impact it is always 10% weaker than smth like hothead apex or coldcomfort
Extra reserves aren't useful when your frame has an intrinsic -10% relative to adaptive/aggressives and FP only takes you to 15, which is 1 higher than max reserves Bipod on Apex WITH a reload perk for damage
@21:16 lol i have that Mindbenders Adept with Snapshot and Vorpal in my vault, marked as junk... but why not a Sojourners slug with AL and Frenzy? Or a Felwinter with Vorpal/Surplus also 80 impact.
I don’t have an ikelos SR, but I have a twilight oath with vorpal. Wouldn’t vorpal in this situation be better than focused fury? Vorpal 15% dmg buff, where focused fury is 20% on 1/2 the mag Both guns are rapid fire frame solar energy snipers with 55 impact damage.
With your long damage set up i was wondering if the dragonshadow izi sniper apex rotation is better? I was practicing that rotation but i could not get my dodge back for the 3 rocket part. How did you get your dodge back in time and could i replace the sniper with eremite?
If people aren’t comfortable or unable to run double special for whatever reason, would you still recommend bipod over bns? If you still recommend bipod would you just keep primary shooting the boss until your rockets are overloaded to 4 or just do a iza rocket swap combo?
So for me after watching all of this, the go to would probably be Izinagi, Another special sniper, and BnS rockets with Apex. I might rocket dump with RDM (Hunter) think this is valid?
At 9:45 you mention that Envious+Controlled is the best fusion total damage for day 1, but you spreadsheet says that Controlled only beats out Reservoir in DPS2. Is DPS2 the reason to go for Controlled here or is there something else I am missing?
Love your videos dude im hooked. But can you explain why apex predator over cold comfort? Ive been puzzled about why apex is better but cant seem to understand, would appreciate your response a lot!
Question, is the izzy, sniper, rocket combo worth it considering that you will most likely be swapping from a different weapon that u were using before boss phase leading to less ammo?
What’s funny to me is that everyone is going insane prepping for this raid, but we all know good and well that sisters and crota are just going to be rocket dump bosses. Everything else is ad clear. Literally just need the person who’s on sword to run tractor to debuff crota prior to damage. Also a couple people on snipes to shoot oversoul. My guess is that wardcliff will one shot the oversoul tho
@@TheAegisRelic I do hope I’m wrong though. I’d like to see some shake up with the mechanics. I’ve also not looked at the supposed raid mechanic leak or whatever
Would distant tumulus with clown + fl be just as good as ikelos sr for the long range damage setup? They both have 20% dmg perks but fl affects the 3 first shots as well. Is it because DT is way less accessible as it is a world drop and ikelos sr is craftable?
In regards to kinetic legendaries, is there a reason you listed pardon our dust and not ignition code seeing as it rolls with blinding nades and slideshot
for succession, why do you use reconstruction/recombination instead of reconstruction/vorpal? any specific reason? I haven't seen anybody else using that roll
would it be better or worse to instead use cold comfort with bait/envious, kill the 7 ads needed to load 5 rounds in the mag. procc bait with izi a fusion then dump the 5 rockets + dodge reload for the 6th? especially since comfort benefits from an extra rocket? or would this slow dmg to a crawl too much in a longer dmg phase after the dump?
@@codking4935 aegis has been recommending special finisher more; really the only thing that's changed about double special is you can't rely on heavy weapons as backup add clear if you screw up anymore, gotta be a little more on point with abilities/efficiency instead

@@tank_dempsey bruh melee build? You doing a 8 phase? There’s no shot that they don’t buff the fuck outta his health. My guess is 15 mil minimum on his health if it’s weapons damage. Because yes in d1 guarding wasn’t a thing but when shadowkeep brought back the sword it has a guard feature which is part of the dungeon entrance mechanic. And wym by another caretaker moment? The damage is entirely different and caretaker has like iirc 24mil or something close to it putting him at the tankiest boss in the game, for reference rhulk I believe is somewhere around 18 and oryx around 20 the only other raid boss who comes close is golg but between the very long phases and the bomb it feels a lot less

Re: Bipod rockets. You might want to check out the new seasonal strand one (Semiotician). It can roll/craft with bipod and field prep, which pairs well with its origin trait that boosts reload speed (not much, but it helps). You can reload this bad boy very quickly and just spam rockets.
Semio has a worse archetype and only gains +1 over max reserves Bipod Apex with a worse affinity
So much knowledge. If you haven’t already, I hope to see you get that Day 1 belt some day.
For the long range damage rotation, how would a Clown/Firing line Distant Tumulus compare to the Ikelos SR roll that you suggested?
Wondering same thing. I have same roll distant or a seraph round tripple tap high impact reserves ikelos
Would also be fine, just leaves you with less ammo in your energy slot when you swap back to something like Forbearance
Great video lots of usefull information but where does the best gun in the game thunderlord fit in in all of this?
In the vault
have you considered foetracer as opposed to lucky pants on hunters? since if you run solar specifically you get a higher surge bonus for apex and ikelos, plus you are free to run triple kinetic for izzy. I dont have the mental capacity to work out the numbers but the only extra req is throwing a grenade or melee before you fire off apex
Yeah it's something I'm aware of, Gunslinger is just not my default recommendation for hunters on day 1
Golden video, sir! Props to getting it in one take!
Some really great info here, I appreciate your videos a lot. Question though, you mentioned Graviton Lance on void hunter, do you think that's a better option than using Le Monarch? Thanks

first of all, amazing video, really good stuff, question: with your eremite roll which mod would you use, backup mag to maximize envious assasin at max reserves w 3x solar reserves at 20? or boss spec but having a maxed envious at 18 instead of 20?
Can do either tbh the likelihood of you dumping 18 in a row is really low and you can always Backup swap

Div swapping hasn't been viable for over a year, 15% debuff killed it completely and hotswap nerf made it so bubble goes down
I looked into this last season and I can't find a realistic situation where you can stack enough handling that you don't lose div bubble uptime
This helps out so many new lights
Thanks for this huge help! Very helpful
I'm not sure I've undestood in what bipod is better than BnS because the 2 options are around the same total damage and BnS has more dps.
@@TheAegisRelic alright thanks!
Then once damage starts:
Slap down a well, fire your 4 rockets, fire your fusion rocket and load another one, empty your supremacy mag and reload, swap back to apex and repeat.
Tessellation is likely to be disabled
I do not recommend Cataphract for day 1 whatsoever
The rocket damage rotation that you recommend requires someone running gjallarhorn right?
And to confirm, the gjallarhorn player runs:
Supremacy w/ rewind rounds & enhanced kinetic tremors
Ikelos SR w/ FTTC & focused fury
and the cycle is:
- 1 gjally shot
- 2 supremacy shots
- 4 ikelos shots and reload
Question: should we run enhanced focused fury on the Ikelos SR?
Yes that is correct and no you don't need to but you can
Parasite is an amazing heavy for prio target killing. Brought it into Day 1 VoW and it one shot glyphkeepers in challenge mode. Can't recommend it enough on priority target fights.
This guy KNOWS!
Quick question:
If I’m matching surges with apex, would it be better to run the eremite or cartesian for pure damage? My roll has lead from gold on cartesian, so that’s why I’m leaning towards it. But if eremite has more damage / better for rotations, then I may use that!
What would you recommend?
Eremite
@@TheAegisRelic cool cool, thanks man!
Acacia's dejection is quite good to run on solar with incandescent. It helps keep the restorationx2 buff up when enemies are not close enough for incinerator snap.
If not on solar, acacia is definitely much weaker and not worth bringing.
Acasia is definitely situational I just dislike its lack of utility
Also want to add that shields will be in this day one. So arc and solar weapons for these hive enemies are gonna be highly prioritized.
Shields aren't ever really an issue in the current sandbox
So, for the long range extended damage rotation, why Ikelos over Distant Tumulus? Wouldn't Tumulus fulfill the same role (especially with manual reloads) but with slightly higher dps? Feels unrealistic that you are going to be using the full reserves to the point where ammo becomes a concern with your secondary sniper
FTTC nearly doubles total reserves > good conversion for after DPS
Great Video! Very informative for covering all options. Is there any way we can get our hands on that dps spreadsheet?

Thank you!
It's likely an unintended interaction which is likely to be fixed by Bungie
@@TheAegisRelic Thanks for the really quick answer! Your videos have been a huge help in getting my classes ready for day 1.
Techeun fine but doesn't surge match
Would it be worth it to bring LFRs? I have a crafted Apex (kalli go brrr) but i feel like Deathsinger standing still would probably be easy to crit with them
I don't think so

Very nice breakdown. What do you suggest for the Ghorn user instead of Izanagi? Legendary sniper/fusion?
Either fusions or snipers yeah
Hey, great video! May I ask what would be your go to damage rotation for the Gjallahorn user? and which class would be the most optimal to run Gjally with?

I'd say either Nightstalker or Dawnblade
@@TheAegisRelic Thanks for the taking the time to make these videos and to reply (:
When you're using merciless for damage, do you ramp it up to full speed before you proc impetus? Or after? Or does it depend on how much ammo you have to work with
Impetus first
Hey man thanks for making this, do you also recommend these weapons for overall any activity?
If they're good enough for day 1 they're certainly good enough for anything else haha
You're in your lane, homie! Keep it up
Nice video! One question, I don’t have Ikelos Sniper - what can i use in damage rotation instead that is currently obtainable?
Eremite
Final Warning is low-key special level strong especially against single target as long as youre within range 🙂
no
What would you run on an Arc Hunter with Tractor?
Surprisingly decent but pales in comparison to Sunbreaker in a day 1 env
For those, like myself, who prefer just using a single special and heavy rotation rather than double special and heavy rotation, what would be best?
Izanagi + rocket bipod/bns?
That's definitely an option yeah
Since Bungie said that reserve mods are going to be disable would you recommend the bipod roll over the b&s more then before?
Bipod has a slightly bigger edge but I'd still bring both (their total damage is pretty much exactly equal again)
Makes sense thanks for the insight
