Got Gen1’s the first of the year. Took advantage of their Hero’s program. The day I received them: took them out of the box, straight to the coarse, Hole in 1, three holes in. Love em’! Love your content, love your chemistry.
Yet AGAIN...another great video and the timing, as you said in the video, is perfect because it came right after Matt’s iron fitting. I think this will bring PXG irons back onto people’s radar if they’re in the market for new irons. Great work, fellas!!
Good video. Excellent coming back from last video and also comparing gen 1 and 2. Slight difference in sweetspot but gen 1 seems to suit Matt a wee better.
Went into a iron fitting 4 years ago and hit everything blind and ended up hitting the PXG 0311T better than everthing else. The price was a definite turn off but decided to go with them since they really were the best for me in my hands. Did another fitting this year and my 0311T still couldn't be beat! So they were worth the investment to me. 6 iron averages were swing speed of 93, ballspeed of 129, 102' height and 5600 spin according to trackman if anyone cares.
Please try and get your hands on the new Ben Hogan driver! It’s only $300 including some awesome shaft options. Would love to see you guys review it and see how it compares to the big boys released this year..... Thanks guys!
Yup! I love the Hogan business idea. Especially the trial period they do and I will be testing out there driver for sure. I currently have their wedges which I love. But I wouldn’t swap my Miura irons for anything lol. If the Hogan driver turns out to be decent, then it’s a bargain for sure! Those shafts alone almost cost the same as what Hogan charges for the whole club!
Interesting. I have Gen 1 and I like them, but I had a pretty bad experience with them so far. Looking at replacing the shafts now. Glad to see Gen2 is basically the same. Save me lots of money :) Though I would never spend that much on Gen 2. Plenty of good irons for 1/2 the cost.
One of my playing partners has the Gen1 0311s. I've been able to them a couple of times. The sound and feel are incredible in my opinion. Wish I could afford a set of gen1s but my jpx900 forged are just fine for me
You guys are killing me. I need to find somewhere near me to test out the PXG's. I couldn't afford the Gen 2 model but if the Gen 1 is available I would consider it. Would be interested to see you guys do a review of the new PXG 0211's. Thanks for a great channel
Bought Gen1's second hand and cannot for the life of me find a reason to change to anything else. Might re-shaft them at some point if swing changes merit it but the head is awesome and in my opinion they look better than the Gen2's.
Looks like great performing sticks! Out of curiosity, I’d like to know if both Matt and Ian had a feeling going into the fit of what the winning combo would be given that PXG wasn’t initially on either one of your radars.
One of the main reasons why I chose PXG is that being tall, and playing longer clubs, they were the easiest to build to a decent swing weight (thanks to the small masses). Have played Mizuno for a long time, and current PXG have an even more acceptable swing weight. Maybe Mike can relate?
Can you do a comparison of MP18 SC, MP18 MMC, FliHi, and HM Pro in a 4 iron? Would love to see the differences, especially between FliHi and Hot Metal Pro. Would be a good display of adding forgiveness in the higher irons across any brand.
Hi Ian. Miura 601 the hollow body iron with the bit in the middle at the back Or the PXG Gen 1 Or the Honma TW-X Last years with the 2 weight things at the back. These are 3 sets in currently thinking about. Thanks mate
What are your thoughts on why PXG players are not winning on the PGA tour. Zach Johnson has not won since the switch, Charles Howell won after dropping PXG this year. Do you feel like the long-shot distance control on the PXG irons are as as good as the other major manufacturers?
Ian are you worried about "hot" shots with the hollow body design? That was the #1 reason why I ditched my 790's and went into 770's. The last straw was when I pumped one about 15-20 yards further off the tee on a par 3 over the green and into somebody's backyard. Didn't feel like I swung that much faster but the ball seemed to absolutely rocket off the face at times, especially off the tee.
have you guys compared the gen 2 to the gen 3's? I can get gen 2's on the "cheap" being in the military but if there is a big enough difference from the 2's to the gen 3's then I'd definitely consider boning up in price. Great work though on this video nonetheless.
Would you recommend the PXG Gen 2 irons at the price they are now at $159 a club? Deciding between these or the P790, Titleist T100S or Mizuno MP - 20s HMB
Hey fellas- as always, pure gold. Might have missed something, but I noticed Matty is going just 1* flat in these, as well as the Titleist CB in the last video. Is this something new and what is the reason?
After watching the first iron fitting video I went to the site and noticed the same. It doesn't appear you can order the gen 1 irons anymore. I get the hero's discount so I thought it might help a little more getting the older model. eBay is an option but then you don't the warm fuzzy feeling you get with a proper fitting.
@@jlnew10 lefty gen 1 0311T ....I had a combo set but found the original 0311 too big for my liking....looked around and realized that the 0311T was perfect (had iblades for a bit; these are slightly bigger, feel better and more forgiving) so yeah, I knew my specs from previous set and changed shaft from modus 105 to Nippon 950.....have to call and check inventory
These are PXG clubs obviously directed at Golfers with more money than sense. Admittedly a large segment of golfers. Kudos to Parsons for supporting the LPGA tour, but clubs >2.5 x the cost of, say. Titleist or Mizuno premium clubs? He's taking the piss.
Sounds like the other models had further improvements to be fair (P, XF, etc.). This is also just one session, could be different for other players, over the course of a season etc. But Gen1's are definitely not a disappointment if you want to save some money
Don't do it Matt! I saw how disappointed you were when you saw the new Srixon irons were out after buying the older model....just sayin. Nothing worse than buying last years stock with all the new models on the floor.
Travis Goodspeed I’ve asked this question in the past because I’m convinced that he’s about 6’ 3”. Nope, he’s right around 6’ tall. The distance he gets is miraculous
@@timothydaniels504 Interesting, I'm about 6'1 and always thought he was my height. I'm more curious about his height because he seems taller like myself but plays flat lie angles.

Gen 2 vs gen 3 please!

I would love to see this review as well.

The gen 2's are now only 140 per iron. I picked up an entire 4-PW + GW for only 1400, that's cheaper than my Mizuno MP 20 SEL's!

Zachary Milos agree with you. That’s why I would never play that club. I was hitting a 7 iron 210yds. No thanks
I had same prob I got the apex 19 pro so much better
They aren’t selling gen 1 irons on their website anymore. I know you guys can get things being in the industry. Are you sure the average consumer can?
Had the same question
Call! I ordered 4/25/19 0311T 3-pw that will arrive tomorrow

Hi Ian & Matt
I know Pxg were better for Matt than his srixon but how many people would that before do you think.
Thinking hard about the swap.
Can you guys change the angle of the camera when Matt is hitting. Just do few shots front facing. Or do a whole video on swing analysis...
We'll be trying to mix up the camera angles this season, it can be difficult due to the layout of the studio to get a down the line view
2 years later and huge price drop for Gen 3 … and revisiting this?
Another great vid! So do you guys carry the last years model for all clubs? Specifically SM6 wedges?
We generally don't to be honest Dylan, we just happen to still have these in the studio
