That's the most emotion I've ever seen out of Matt, when he holed that shot with the PXG, LOL!!!
My son and I love your channel. We could watch “Iron Byron” (Matt) hit golf balls all night. It almost has a soothing, Bob Ross, quality. You guys explain club fitting better than anyone I’ve seen on UA-cam. Keep doing what you do!
I am absolutely shocked! And thank you for answering the question about just changing shafts. What an incredible video and amazing content!
1) hole in one, long overdue! Congrats Matty! Kinda thought it might occur with the driver.
2) Ian, what a credit to the industry, if only each market had an Ian!
I definitely did not get the Ian experience during my fit.
Great video guys! PXG needs to sponsor Matty! I am way too addicted to your channel. So glad to see the hole in one. That was absurd.
Went back to look at TXG's library of videos. Found Matts Iron Fitting Live from April 26th. 2018.
What an amazing resource to have. Great nuggets from Ian🧙♂️ throughout;
one of them @1:30:58;
Ian says "I think the Srixon's are too jumpy for you"
Matty says "Your'e breaking my heart"
Ian says "Ya, I know" 😉
Matts' follow through looks noticeably different from 1 year ago. Loved the hole in one reaction 🏆
Has been a blast watching the channel evolve. Ty guys and appreciate the great work. 🙏
Stevo Stevopick thank you Stevo!!!
I`ve gamed for a year now the 0311T Gen 2 3-PW with PX LZ 6.0 shaft and 49&54 Sugar Daddy wedges . I’m very satisfied with the equipment!
Amazing how much change happens over a short period of time with the swing related to club setup. If he keeps improving his swing he will go broke!!! Great video guys and very informative as usual.
I watch all love your videos and LOVE how you approach the fitting process. I have always considered myself as a good golfer with lots of potential, but I couldn't quite bring my game together and make any real permanent improvements. I decided to take my current clubs, take a few swings with my eyes closed and see what was going on, and found out that my stress free swing was fine, but my equipment didn't match. Lie angle, iron grind, grip size, head weight, and shaft weight were all wrong. I went and got fitted for some new clubs and have have had about a month of amazing practice sessions with my natural swing, and a great outcome. If I ever make it bid, I'll give you all of the credit. I hope to make a few videos with a shout-out to you soon.
Great hole in one, Matt! I yelled so loud my wife ran through the house thinking something was wrong. Great content as usual, such a great team Ian and Matty!
It is fascinating to watch older (pre-Larry) videos with Matt - night and day swing difference. I can attest to Ian's comment about getting refit after working with a coach on changes. I went from 1* upright to 1* flat in less than 2 months an may need another tweak as we continue to refine things. Great content as always - makes for a great morning cup of coffee companion.
Ian, I love your approach to improve the below average strikes to improve confidence to swing better. That is why I got the driver that had better results on off center hits and not just pick the longest. Now I need to save up enough to get irons that don’t pull when i look at them funny
Larry is such a great coach! Unfortunately I can't see him much with me being in the USA but my coach who just played in the PGA Professional Tourney, who doesn't know Larry, teaches me the exact same technique for all the shots. Just confirms Larry really knows his stuff.
I've been watching the channel since last year and I threw my hands up in celebration with you two on the hole in one that we all have been waiting for! I'm just kinda disappointed Matty didn't mic drop the club like he always alludes to lol
Dude Matt is a machine. Great testing. I've mentioned it a long time ago here, wished club fitters were as good as you guys in terms of taking the time. Definitely have knocked some sense into me personally to get lofts and lies rechecked and perhaps entertain a new set. You guys are awesome. Thanks for the great content
The boys in a sweet shop and having a blast. Brilliant as always.
Well done Matt. That was ACE. The info on this channel is awesome. Thanks guys
Congratulations on your hole in one Matt, Ian will get you a set of PXG heads at trade money you can't not put them in yer bag man cheers Peter
Ive been watching for a while now waiting for that sinker! Congratulations Matty!
Congrats Matty for h1!!! Learning a lot from this channel.
I have the PXG Gen 1 XF irons with the Steel fiber 95I shaft in my bag and I love them. A little bigger head but very consistent and the best part for me is the distance and accuracy I get on off center hits but my center face shots feel incredible. Unfortunately I bought them at the peak of their price point but I don't regret buying them.
Matt your swing is so consistant and so smooth - one of the best ball strikers I've seen on UA-cam! ;) Love your channel!
So if the older version of the PXG has disappeared from the site, then the other iron missing from the test was the new Srixon z785. Seeing those two head-to-head might really complicate Matty’s decision. Thanks for the channel. It’s the best equipment tutorial anyone could get.
I play the gen1 0311t. NEVER expected to play PXG myself. It became an easy decision for me to switch with my normal mishit being thin. Indoor and on course testing showed thin and solid shots going VERY similarly. I've played mizuno for many years and the results were dramatically different. Lastly for comparison purposes I hit similar distances to Matt. Gen1 is my preference over gen2.
*I knew Matty would love the FEEL of the Modus Nippon line up!*
You get so much speed and it looks so effortless! 🙏
Man, you guys get to play with all the fun stuff again!
I did a fitting with PXG earlier this year in Florida, and I saw very similar results as you all did in this video. Although they are cheaper than the new ones for 2019, I still could not afford them, and went a different route. My dispersion and consistency went up greatly with them vs what I was playing. I know they were the club for me, but $700 vs $1500 was too big of a difference to pay.
Try the pxg hero program if you are able to apppy for it. Definitely way cheaper if you go that route
Congrats on the hole out Matt lol! been here since the beginning of the channel glad to see it finally happened. Now just gotta hole out with the driver 😆
Congrats Matt! Fun video, fun to see the process through the test and over the year.
Does Matt need new irons? - That's the best title you guys have come up with to date! ;)
Really good to watch video, hole in one reaction from Matt priceless. Thanks again for your efforts.
This makes me want to get fit for irons so much as I bought irons a year ago and seem to have dispersion problems
Really enjoyed that fellas, well done (again). I loved my 765/565 combo set, wish I’d never sold them. As I’m on the back nine of my golfing career I don’t think I’d spend PXG money for marginal improvements. But more than the head discussion, I really like the focus on finding a shaft that feels good, the kbs tour worked for me, I have AMT Black now in my AP3’s and they feel a bit lacklustre
Wish I had a club head speed issue Gents! 😆. Keep up the great work.
I love my gen 1 t’s!!! The gen 1 feels softer to me personally, i also play a 0311 five iron and a 0311x driving four iron to make up my set.
Great vid Guys and WOW HIO for Matty Boy!!!!
Drinks are on Matty, so mine is a Pint of Creme de Menthe with a Cherry on top and a packet of Pork Scratchings!!!!
I'm planning to try the 2011's when PXG launch them next month but after this, I might ask to try the 0311 Gen1's as well. (Of course, mine will be the XF version with a graphite shaft, but I need all the help I can get)!
Will Hole in One Matty be signing a contract with PXG 😉. All kidding aside, love the extra info you guys share as you work with the different heads and shafts. 5 Stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
BAANNNGG Matty.... well done bud.
Honestly tried to watch this video 10 times before getting to it. So glad I did.
I reckon I will her the missus cry out from here when you tell her the price... lol.
PXG at TXG.
Great video. Got exiting at 16 min and forward with some great shots and a HiO.
Brilliant to see the shaft with the two suitable heads.
Which head to pick? Just hit x balls each and go with closest dispersion. The PXG may be picked based on HIO ... but base decision on feel and performance and not emotion.
Good stuff!
Great hole in one Matt! great video. Wish you would open a fitting center in Alabama..HA!
FANTASTIC. Nicely holed that shot. If faith is what you believe, then PXG for sure. But as for Titleist, I would rather see you hit AP2 since it should offer more forgiveness like the PXG.
I used to think that Matt's swing was great but now, it's even better. Good job guys.
Just got round to watching this as was away at the British Masters
I have had a big change - gone from Nippon NS Pro Modus3 Tour 130 in regular flex to the Tour 105 in X-flex
What difference is the 105x to the modus 130 for you . ?
Matty nailed my question, so glad he asked it at the end. I hit Gen 1s in my fitting right before the price drop and thought they felt great. No way I could afford them at the original price point, now its close....
Thanks for the tip off on Larry Cheung! Very interesting indeed!
Excellent video and validates the importance of a fitting and being open to all brands. Hmmm, hole in one with PXG. So is Matt buying the drinks
I’ve tried the both Gen’s. I’ve found the Gen 1’s feel squishier (which i personally liked). Ever since I played the Mizuno JPX 825 Pro’s. I’ve been trying to find an iron just as soft and buttery. The Gen 1 0311P’s are as close to them as I have found.
"Made a couple little, a little shaft change, oh and a head change, and also a ball change." Lol so you changed literally everything except for what Matt's wearing? 😂
djjazzyjeff123 he recently changed that aswell!! Lol
Went back and watched the top cavity back video and the pxg was excellent for Matt back then as well!
Obviously you can’t try every iron but how come no TM 760s?
Excellent video.....
Well chuffed for Mat....new irons look great ......
The question Matty has to answer for himself is: cost? Overall, a great test...ooh and congrats on the hole-out! Lastly, Matty, you should go and re-hit the Hogan PTx and see how you do? I have hit the PXG and they are great clubs, yet the price is not so easy to justify.
And the final decision was? Awesome video guys!
Bob Seely PXG
Great video as usual. I hit a similar ball flight, play off scratch and struggled with thin shots for years. Went 1° upright and hit the middle so much than ever. I attribute it to lie angle, though not sure if it does actually influence it as much.
Love, love , love my Gen1s!!!! Most important piece of my continuing improvement. I have completely retooled my swing, and everything I have done was complimented and supported with my new irons. I have played Hogan apex irons for years, and liked them a lot, but the first strike with the PXGs, what Hogan irons😂 I never looked back. Every aspect of my iron game has improved. I was lucky to buy them when the Gen1’s were available at a deep discount. Only regret I have is I should gone with the Players, or even “T” instead of the XF. Oh well I guess I will just have to suffer with perfect ball flight, added distance, and soft landings from any distance...oh darn😁
I sure wish in my part of Kentucky we had somebody who could fit like you do. Your knowledge is amazing. I have never seen a club fitter whom I could say made intentional and correct adjustments. Most even on UA-cam look like they are just blindly throwing darts compared to this session.
Where are you located?
Awsome stuff as always guys, nice Ace Matt :)
this season i made a change from callaway razor x hl irons to the callaway apex pros for this year they have been a game changer for my golf game i also went to the elevate tour shafts in stiff and love them a lot best choice I've ever made for my golf game in years #callawayapexpros
I am curious as to the price difference between these two final clubs. Great job Matt!
Fantastic ball striking! Expensive day out
So, so, interesting. Combo three 0311 standard with the 0311t? Congrats on the hole in one, Matt!
Hey guys great content as usual, I wanted to ask about gap testing/ finding your distances. I can get a gap test at my local club using flights cope but they only use range balls so I wanted to ask how big of a difference this makes to distance and if there is any other way to find my distances
Uday Khunti probably not going to give you a great representation.
This was thrilling to watch!
So shocked the Apex Pros were low on ball speed for Matt...they're cannons for me compared to anything else I've tried.
Any chance you guys can share the full video? Would love to see the same process as the live fitting last year
I just tried the z785 wow I would have never tried them if it wasn't for this channel I am thinking of getting a mixed set I only hit 7 iron but I got about 5900 spin is that too low for a 7 iron? My swing speed with 7 iron is at around 77mph
Great hole in one! First Ive seen on UA-cam.
Was hoping you'd guys would try the 718 AP2's. Either way, another stellar video!
I play the 718 CB’s and they are amazing!! The feel its amazing and I LOVE my irons!!! I am afraid that the PXG feel won’t be as good as the 718 CB’s. Great video
Jose Enrique S Feel is subjective Jose so what feels good for your won’t necessarily feel good for another player. Matt enjoyed both but PXG was fractionally more forgiving.
Ian Fraser good point!! Thanks for your reply.
As always great great video guys!! And a hole in one to boot! Very curious about the added weight for Matt's drill from Larry as I too suffer from quick arms and square shoulders at impact...please link if you can :)
Larry should have a video coming out on that soon from our lesson
I’m surprised we didn’t get a “ that’s the best I can hit it “ quote 😂 matty
Great intro by the way. Another amazing, entertaining video.
Couldn’t you argue that the CBs are outperforming the PXG given the differences in loft? Even with 1 degree higher loft on PXG still 2 degrees stronger than Titleist CB and Titleist numbers just as good. To me I take that to mean Matt is getting more performance out of the Titleist with the weaker loft
Time to buy Ian a drink, Matt!
Ian, got fitted and loving my C-taper 130x soft stepped. Any reason you didn’t have Matt give those or the ctaper 125’s a try?
Don't have KBS in the shop at the moment, but we will this year.
Matt you never disappoint
Love this learning all the time. More weight and heavier in the butt to help timing. I need these in stiff
Excellent video! Did you try the 130 gram shaft in his Srixon irons? Also, would the adjusted V-sole in the Z785s perform better with the new swing adjustments?
Thomas Veal we only carry current product in the store so we’re unable to compare directly. But as we mentioned Matt had been having some issues with the Srixon irons digging for him so we went in a different direction.
Awesome Matt. Put that PXG in your bag, especially with the price drop.
Were the Srixon Z785’s hit? With the thinner sole than the 65 could they solve for the problems that the wider soled 765’s produced for Matt?
finally !!!! i witnessed Mattie boy hitting it in the cup... (i watched twice lol)
Just went thru a fitting here in TX. Ended up with Muzino 919 hot Metal pro with recoil shaft. Love them! I’m having trouble hitting 5 iron. It’s short and to the right. What can I try? 63 yr old, 9 handicap.
Hey fellas- maybe I missed something, but I noticed you had the clubs at just 1* flat instead of 2* (which would bring the Titleist to "standard" as it is slightly upright to begin with). Is this something new?
I don't quite hit the ball like you yet Matt (work in progress) but I can assure you the longer irons from PXG would give you a lot of confidence. Ian, are these also available in black and chrome? ;-)
I am surprised you did not try any of the blade irons. They offer more loft and spin.
Brian Phillips looking for a little more forgiveness than that. As we could see from the strike pattern on Matt’s original iron his strike pattern can stray low and out to the toe.
This one was great! How much does each set cost?
Curious...is hitting 6 iron enough to judge a set? Thanks...luv TXG!
I can answer that. No, you would include a gap testing too, to ensure that each iron would have the correct loft, and weight so you get the correct 10-15 yard gap between each iron... But first and foremost you want to see and feel the new iron model. Later comes the gap testing! :)
Hope that answers it!
Cheers!
Excellent video gents, very interesting.
Matt, go PXG gen1 are probably the same price as Titleist since they dropped the prices- especially after those results can’t go wrong your all over the pin
A little bit of a surprise with the shaft there. I recall you saying that he x100 can add a little spin so I was thinking maybe that route. Matty is becoming one of the troops 😂 Touching on the leading edge and turf interaction. Is a pre worn leading edge better for a player who gets a little diggy from shaft lean? I tend to lean and get a bit squeezy and my miss is more of a heavy strike. I've gone to a set of blades just for the narrow sole to help with turf interaction. I've always wondered about the v sole and now irons like the p760 with a good amount of pre worn leading edge.
Ian. I just seen your video on whats in bag and weight change on the m3 driver. Are you still gaming the m3. Great videos
Nick Millar no I’m playing Callaway Rogue SZ.
Ian Fraser thank you. You hit it well on the fitting
Congrats Matt!
Drinks on Matt 🥃🍺🍺🍻
Great hole in one! Has anyone else got an ace when getting fitted?
Rick Cudmore Yes Rick we’ve had a few.
Good time to ask for a raise, Matt.
Bob J 🤫
Have you guys tried out the Cobra King MB/CB’s yet? Please do a review, you’ll love them! Best irons I’ve ever played. That $-Taper shaft is awesome too. Keep up the good work
Not yet, but we will
Toward the beginning, you mentioned a drill your instructor has you doing so that you are not as square at impact, that you have rotated more. Can you tell us what that drill is, as I have some of the same going on.
Hey Kevin, Larry should have a video out on his channel in the next couple days of the lesson we did: ua-cam.com/users/LarryCheung1992
Any tips on hitting a higher ball flight? I was looking at my apexes for my irons today and the highest ones were around 70 feet. Cant help thinking maybe I can squeeze a little better distance out of them if I can get them up a little higher. I'm around 80-84mph ss with my 7 iron launching 15* with 5-5500 spin apexing at 60 feet. Any ideas?
Massive speed, speak upon how you feel and sense the head speed/swing speed. What's your trigger or move that affords you the ability to generate that impressive ball speeds
What would you suggest for a player swinging 85mph in a 7 iron with 120 ball speeds. I am in gen 1 0311 and want a smaller head. I am in the px lz 6.0 right now for shafts.
*Question about angle of attack with irons*
Implementing some new swing changes and I am now coming in and taking a deep divot. Is there something I can do to my clubs (Cobra F8 one length) or do I need to implement different swing changes to shallow it out more?
Just got z765 with same KBS Tour Stiff shafts that were in my old Ping S56's. Both standard loft and lie. Miss the z765 right every time. The heads feel heavier and this is changing the way I swing and the way the shaft reacts. Getting them loft and lie'd this week. Hope this helps. Is this common TXG?
