    Love all the videos guys! Seeing as though Memorial Day is this coming Monday here in the states, here's a little tidbit about the name of these irons....0311 is representative of the Marine Corps MOS 0311 (job designation code). This designation is for a Marine Corps Rifleman which is the most common infantry designation stemming from Parson's time in the service. For all the vets watching, Parsons just announced a 50% discount to all active duty, veteran, retirees for the foreseeable future!! Semper Fi!

    You have to respect a company that openly state exactly what they are and make no apologies. They are a luxury item and by every account I have heard the performance is there. Yes you can find others that perform similar. One thing everyone can agree on - they are not for everyone.
    Thanks for the role reversal and it was good to finally see Ian take a few swings in there. Another thing we can learn from the both of you is really great tempo in the swing and it’s importance to strike.

    I just got fitted for these a few weeks ago (highly discounted at $159/club). They felt so damn good compared to my old Nike Ignite irons. I was honestly surprised at how forgiving they are for a "players" iron. I thought i was going to need the XF, but ended up getting fitted for the Ps, and I think I'll be pleased with them. For reference, I have an astronomically high handicap, much of that stemming from lost/OB balls that are either pushed right with the irons or duckhooked with the driver.

    I found it really interesting what you said about shallow swingers vs deep divot takers and sole width. I have played all kinds of irons in the 7 years I have played the game. From my current Ping G’s, Mizuno JPX line, down to Mizuno MP15’s. One sensation I have always felt about Wide soles, and many people look at me like I have two heads, is it almost feels like there is too much club head down there. Even good shots feel a tad fat. As I am playing more these days, and have a little more time to practice, definitely thinking of something a bit thinner. MP18SC, Titleist CB, even i Blade. I have always been a high ball hitter with a hook miss....a lot of what you said was like a light bulb going on.
    Not a fan at all of PXG, yet I still watch your reviews of everything because I know I am going to learn something. Thanks!! 👍

    I like what Bob Parsons is trying to do with clubs and the fact that they don't bring out a new line of clubs every year. That being said you can't talk about PXG without talking about price. For a club that costs that much more than any other club on the market and doesn't out perform any of those clubs doesn't make sense for the average golfer. Strike will still over rule any expensive club you put in your hands. Great video again guys. Want to mix it up? Matt and Ian should do a course VLOG!

      @@AmandaHugankiss328 I could be wrong but I think the reason nickel and other metals are added to these hollow irons is to save weight. They put heavy tungsten weights back in the head to position the CG, while the lightweight steel face is super thin and light. Makes an illegal hot face, which is then injected with foam to slow it down and dampen the vibrations. Carbon steel is used for pure forgings and has a superior feel imo.

    PXG is certainly a unique company and their iron feel supreme.

  • @pipebliss
    @pipebliss 5 років тому +1

    I'm curious... you Ian mentioned in the video that PXG's goal is to eliminate miss-hits, so no matter when you hit the club on the face, the result is consistent. Would you say they are the best clubs on the market in terms of that characteristic? That would seem highly desirable and worth paying for, for the average golfer that doesn't hit the center of the club often.

    • @stealthskater66
      @stealthskater66 5 років тому

      RazoRock you could pay a quarter of the price to get lessons and improve your strike in just a few days. And no there’s no magic club that auto finds the fairways and greens. Don’t buy pxgs lies

    • @pipebliss
      @pipebliss 5 років тому

      @@stealthskater66 my strikes are pretty decent, I play to a 9/10 with Miura CBs but I suffer from the occasional toe strike which kills distance 8-10 yards. I need a little more forgiveness sometimes when I'm not playing 4-5 days a week.

    • @stealthskater66
      @stealthskater66 5 років тому

      RazoRock they make good clubs there is no doubt. But like they said in the video the clubs are no better than the other brands. They just sell the idea that they are luxury clubs and it become more about status than actual skill. If you want to eliminate Mis-hits there is an option equally good for half the price. Pxg hurts golf because they are forcing the other brands to hike prices. They price people out of golf and scare people away from picking up the sport. So if status is your goal then spend away but it’s to the detriment of young potential golfers who are gonna be priced out of the sport before they even get a chance to try it

    • @pipebliss
      @pipebliss 5 років тому

      @@stealthskater66 I don't agree with that logic. There are plenty of high quality affordable offerings from companies like Cobra and Cleveland. If you adjust for real inflation, equipment may even be cheaper than 20 years ago. I bought an iron set 20 years back for $900. Regarding PXG, if they are a good club, you can always get they used on the secondary market for 35-40% of the new cost and then get someone like Ian to retrofit you with a loft/lie/gapping session. Imp, golf is more accessible and affordable than it's even been. Green fees in the Toronto area are the same price as the 1990s when housing was 75% cheaper.

    This fall I will be buying a new set of irons. I currently play taylormade m3 irons. I am a short hitter of the golf ball. I hit my strong lofted 7 irons 155 and a standard 7 iron 145 or less. I am looking for a forged players distance irons that is forgiving. I was a 4 handicap growing up. Went to a 13 back down to a nine and think I will get back to a 5. I hate the price tag on these irons but I am willing to save longer, If you think these are worth looking at.
    I tried the p790 and can’t stand them. I don’t love the feel. If you miss them a slight bit they feel off. I hit well but I am not dead center every time.

    I don't like hitting off turf, cuz when you hit fat, the turf forces the clubhead make contact with ball, crating a false sense of good contact. You should tee it up just a bit to simulate taking a divot or on a tee box. You need the clubhead to swing just below the ball for a real sense of contact. Hitting off turf gives that "drop kick" effect and make it seem like you are striking well, but on real grass, you will lose so much distance when you ht too far behind the ball!

    Many thanks for another excellent Vid Gents and the interesting role reversal, you both coped admirably. You have an excellent swing Ian, with an interesting forward movement of your head in the take away (is that deliberate)? Regarding PXG it`s interesting to see that they have helped launch a sub- category of Irons that has launched a number of "Me to" copies. However IMO despite the Price point I think that their Irons look ugly and almost everything about the company is vulgar and lacks class. But if Bob Parsons wants to continue investing his money into golf club development and that investment bears fruits that can be shared by all golfers, then their entry into the market is beneficial.

I seen Rosie, Garcia,woods,Noreen, Mcilroy, poultry among a few. I know you had a great video on the orange but it seems even more have been using it since then. And although it’s an anti right shaft relevant to how strong the tip section is, there are still some players that you wouldn’t profile into it that are gaming it?

      Has to be one of the most obvious shaft trends recently, it suits the trend on tour of guys trying to hit mostly fades off the tee and eliminate the left side of the golf course.

    Great swing, very smooth Ian! You seem to have a high opinion of Srixons, for high handicappers, would you recommend the g400s or srixon 565s (getting fit of course)?

    • @clubchampionmedia
      @clubchampionmedia  6 років тому

      G400's and Z565's are targeted to a bit different player - the G400 will fly higher and have a much wider sole. Important to test them out but they are both very good clubs.

    Nice job, Ian! I’d love to see a continuation of this with the shaft change! Matt, you did just fine with the pseudo-fitting commentary lol.

    Ping G700 as a competitor, looks similar design?

    • @clubchampionmedia
      @clubchampionmedia  6 років тому

      G700 would be closer to the XF line from PXG, but as you say similar look and design

    Taking a little closer look the second time around, I noticed you have a slight forward head movement during your backswing Ian. It occurs to me that it must drive Shawn Clement nuts to see that!!!...lol. I'd be curious to see a conversation and some analysis with you and Shawn around your swing.

    You talked about the 790s being a best seller. I’m curious if you have a best selling shaft?
    Also - are you familiar with Club Champion is the US? If so - what would you say is the difference between your facility and theirs?

    • @clubchampionmedia
      @clubchampionmedia  6 років тому

      Hard to address that in a comment! We'll chat more about our fitting process in the future on the channel. As for a best-selling shaft, maybe Ian can go through a few in a future live Q&A

    Very nice. So Ian and Matt are both golf robots, very discouraging being an old hack but I loved the information!! Maybe actually test that PXG against the P790 considering the money difference involved???

    Good review on PXG. Forums are typically split between braggers making outrageous claims and pure haters. Nice that you could offer a more balanced, reserved assessment. You guys are big fans of Srixon, any idea what to expect with the new 785/585 irons?

    Great video again. I think this is kind of a Scotty v any other putter manufacturer. Scotties are just as good as most putter, and performance wise may not warrant the price tag, but is a super premium product, good craftsmanship and attention to detail etc.
