I got this and the other Playart, Mazda pick up (tow truck without the boom) from an US ebay auction, this was the bonus as it was the Mazda I was looking for. Wow!!! what a great job you did with that Rob. Looks fantastic.
Thanks again mate. I do like how this come out 😎
A surprisingly nice looking car! Especially the final result.
The wheels and the red colour really make it look like a piece from 1968. The quality looks 10 times better than anything Playart would have issued
That came out BEAUTIFUL!! The white wall tires look great too. I was surprised that the LED bulbs fit so perfectly.
Great, I like this toy inspired makeover! Tyres and rims suit this model perfectly 👍
Great restoration, wheels are perfect for this casting.😎
Great to see Playart gets restored. 😀
Looks really nice Rob, great job bringing it back to life. I might suggest going with red or clear beacons instead of blue if you're trying to pass it as a fire car though (but only if I'm splitting hairs) lol
Great job with your Customizing Job on Mercury station Wagon Toy Car 👍 Great job with the paintjob and cool wheels and tires.
That was a fun one. The anticipation of what it was going to turn out to be was great. Thanks Rob.
I watch a lot of matchbox restoration videos from different youtubers. I definitely prefer the narrative ones over the ones that play music. Great job as always Rob.
Awesome job my friend
Upper 90s paint removal. This totally looks like a car I would have seen growing up. The wheels match that time frame perfectly.
The nickname for the larger old school cartop lights was " bubble gum machines"...looks like a small town fire chief car to me. Great job!
Brilliant restoration! The color and wheels suits it!
That looks really good in basic red!
I love the LEDs for bubble gums, fantastic job my friend
Very cool!! The tires and decals are a perfect fit for this car.
I calculated 97.3% paint removal. Really looks great and I appreciate your show. Nice distraction from what's happening in America right now. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic job Rob! I especially liked what you used for the replacement beacons...great idea!!!🚨👍👍
Great job! Those LED’s are perfect!
Nice remodel of a nice looking car.
Turned out awesome. Very nice job
Excellent job, the wheels are spot on
Fire engine red. Nice detail and restoration. You forgot to put a dalmatian sticking out his head. Lol another great diecast. Thank you Rob. 😊
Very nice. Not dissimilar to the matchbox version. Cool conversion.
Pretty nice job! Those wheels are fantastic 👍
Nice resto', Rob. The Fire Chief would have been a sure fire hit! Stay safe.
cool glad you did this one.
Great job Rob and I still have the same one when I was a kid 👍👍👍👍
looks great, love the wheels and tires. Good job dude.
It came out really nice!
I really like that! Of course it would be even better if it was mine...
Great project well done.
Hi Rob,nice looking model to how it was before, the wheels are smart and sirens are a perfect fit on the roof.
Looks great, awesome job!!
It looks brand new fantastic
That’s really good like it a lot !!!✌🏾👊🏾🇯🇲🇬🇧
Looks good Rob.
Hi rob and family hope all safe and well great video lovely detail those greenlight wheels suite it 100% great detail and love seeing the videos on your channel keep up great work 👍🛠❤️
Mercury Park Lane Wagon. That's a pretty unusual casting. Cool. Matchbox made a Mercury Park Lane sedan.
Looking good 👍 Rob.
Fantastic, as always.
Really nice one!
Nice one , looks dead smart ..👍🤓
One of my favorites from you, as well. 🚨
I love this one. Those wheels are perfect! Might have put some nuln oil in those wheels tho. Great piece!
Very nice Rob. Definitely looks a lot better. Piano player actually makes some nice castings. I've got a Volkswagen Bug playart car that I just love. Take care and stay safe.
Nicely done!!! 👍👍👍👍😁😁😁🚒🚒🚒🚘
Very Nice Work
Looks great
What an unusual casting! A whole lot of fiddly bits! Turned out lovely.
That looks wonderful. If I was a kid, and this were a model on sale, I'd want one badly. Beautiful job!
Awesome ,looklng good 🥂
Very Nice work excellent 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
96ish percent paint removal. look better than the police car I think you got what you were looking. very nice
Hey Rob another wonderful job I know play Hearts can be a pain in the ass but they do come out with some decent castings every now and then that's a wonderful idea what you did with the beacon thank you I'll steal that next time I have a couple of projects that I'm working on especially if you crap cars that I could use that on I didn't realize that they worked really well I hope your hope everything is well the family is fine kind of sucks being locked in I should have another package for you shortly in the mail I know it's going to be delayed I was told 6 to 9 weeks good luck friend
Very nice work , Rob! Almost reminds my of a Matchbox fire chief coupe that I own. I likr yhe color choice and use of L.E.Ds for the beacons.
awesome job rob
Nah, Playart wouldn't have put on such nice wheels.
That really transforms the whole car in what it should have been. As always, great job Rob. It's becoming a problem getting your supplies. Hope they sort it out very soon. Imagine a week or even worse a month without matchbox garage. 😕 But I'm sure you will be able to find a solution. 😉 Thx again for the great videos mate!
Awesome work as always.
Paint is great 👍.
SOO KOOOOOLLLL.
Good job rob very nice 👍
Sure does look good 👀👀👀👀❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏👏👍👍
Hey Rob greet job love it looks factory keep them coming love the video love the work 😷stay safe 👊👊👊👍
Nice 👍
Never knew play-art made a variation of this
Nice.👍
I salvage lot of miniatures and other casting from ebay. I have found that using isopropyl alcool in a ultrasonic jewel cleaning machine make the 100% paint removal each time. And is far safer for your lungs! Be safe pal. And continue with the good job!
How long does it take?
Got one-a those Playart road sofas in yellow.
I find it interesting that they placed extra pieces for the front grille and the rear bumper. Doesn't that make the production more complicated and hence more expensive?
one would think that, really. then again all they sized down was the body and the glass insert, the rest is newly made. maybe they decided to make a simpler baseplate and do grille and bumper as extra parts while they were at it. I might be wrong, but I think casting plastics is cheaper than casting zinc metals. :P
btw, the same model came as yatming, too (I have 2 of those), and they had wheels reminding me of Schuco 1:66. :)
Really nice job Rob. I have two playart wagons that I am customizing, but sadly neither of them are police or fire versions.
i always liked these playart wagons, i thought i sent you a blue one ,but maybe i didnt and its still in a box here . i do have a fire cheif's vesion here somewhere.
nice merc there
A red car.. guess who likes it a lot :-D Take care!
Would be sweet if you could have gotten the LED to light up
Good idea
Amazing how it turned out, I drive a 4 door 2000 mercury Tracer
Hey, Robin! I've been watching your work for quite a while and it's amazing! Love you're skills! Keep it up! Warmth Greetings from GA. USA!!!
Rob I really think you previous hotdog jar was more effective on the paint removal... 😅
Great Job Rob, what size were the LED's looking on eBay and I can't find any at the moment despite having ordered off there in the past.
Shit hot love the videos man my and my son love it
Amazing!! Great classic look and those factory looking wheels with white wall tires was perfect!!
You're right. You did it better!
Nice restoration, details and paint job 👍👌
Hi what size are those LEDs? Thanks
No idea mate sorry, I just eBayed LED set and this is what come up
Nice job, shame the decals aren't straight...!
No Matchbox wheels? Good video anyway
Would a Dark Gray paint work well as the primary base if you run out of the Black paint if you have a Dark Gray paint.
Possibly
@@MatchboxGarage possibly is good and just thought I give you a idea just in case you run out of Black paint.
I haven't seen anyone else suggest this; did you try 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 windscreen in the Matchbox cars?😁
Sizing was off
@@MatchboxGarage No surprises there then. At least they didn't copy the Matchbox one completely.😁
You repainted your kitchen with a tiny brush? Must have taken you ages!! 😂
😂 just for cutting in..
arent the matchbox ones slightly bigger?
The length is actually about the same but playart version is slightly narrower which gives it a more stumpy feel to it.
@@cannyuk i ve seen them a lot and i might have the playart version, matchbox had also the sedan in white and red and their stationcar said commuter behind the rear wheel. they both have that casting line behind the rear wheel and before the rear light...funny
Is it not recommended to use a clear primer to paint red?
If you want a bright Red it would be better with white primer
@@MatchboxGarage
Thank you very much for your answer, I will try it in my next custom ... I am your fan from Mexico. Cheers
Im the 500th like, can I has it???
Very happy 😍💋 💝💖♥️❤️
There's lots of places with black primer in stock here, don't know why you're looking abroad for it 🤷♂️
But I want this specific primer..
@@MatchboxGarage yea Vallejo black surface primer, same as in the video
"Matchbox STH restoration"
It's understandable that; we the people of the future, don't drive station wagons anymore. What's really hard to do is; invent/create 4 door sports cars, or even SUVs that levitate. They would be just like, the 'Star Wars' land speeder! Just like also; what it was, during the Reagan years/era. It was the time when he wanted; the laser satellites, that would kill nuclear missiles. 🛰 😔 😩 😪 😭 😫 🛰 🕴🤔 😳 😐 😕 🙄 🕴 🚗 🚘 🚔 🏎 🚓 🚕 🚗 🚪 🤔 😕 😐 😑 😒 🚪
