Looks fantastic Rob, love that green colour. I actually prefer that shade to the original Dinky paint, looks "period correct". Might be worth keeping some of the green for the Matchbox station wagon, looks like a great match. You put a lot of effort into the chromework and it's really paid off. 👌👍 A fine model of a beautiful car.
Beautiful job, Rob! I love these old cars. AS regards the wheels, I restored a vauxhall victor estate recently and had to buy new wheels as the originals melted in the caustic solution!
Pretty design line of the Studebaker. It's a shame it had no interior unit. Great paint job, but I wouldn't say the same about those white tires. Anyway, another excellent restoration, very hard to choose between yours and Nick's, both are beautiful 👍
Looks great! One of the professors at the college I used to work for had a Studebaker...I only saw it once. It did resemble that casting. If I'm not mistaken, Studebaker merged with several other manufacturers to became American Motors Corp...
You're back! So sorry to learn of the fate of the foot-long hotdog jar, and more so that its last job was not a one hundred percent paint removal. Oh well. I am sure that its replacement will perform as well. Interesting take on the resto-mod. The paint scheme certainly looks... period. I must say, though, that casting would look good almost any color. It's fun to see more of a close restoration every once in a while. Every job does not need drag slicks and a huge blower peaking up through the "bonnet." Off to watch the other now. Cheers.
A bit off topic here, but it's worth keeping one of those centre punches in your car, just in case you end up in water and need to open windows to escape. Apply the punch to a CORNER of the window, and it will shatter. Like your foot long jar. RIP. Dinky wheels, like Corgi, were aluminium, for many years. Always looked great. Often referred to as 'spun' wheels. Your finished model looks gorgeous. It's a lovely car, and that paint scheme just makes it zing. Nice one.
Came out very nice, I like the color update along with those white tires. And the old interweb says aluminum gets eaten by caustic soda and turns black. Maybe the rims were aluminum based metal?
@@MatchboxGarage the last vehicles were manufactured in Canada in 1966. They made a very good vehicle but not everyone liked the styling My very favorites were the 1950 and 1951 bullet nose sedans but the 1953 was a beautiful car. Studebaker merged with Packard in their (that was also floundering) final few years but sales were not sufficient to support manufacturing. There is a museum in South Bend, Indiana int the former manufacturing facility.
Beautiful Rob, really beautiful. I love Dinky's so well made and this is just beautiful. Right off to see what the old handy dandy screwdriver has done with his.
You sir, have done this one proud, your color selection could easily been a factory option. These were real factory hot rods. 289 c.i. V-8 using a Paxton supercharger. These cars hold many land speed records and are considered iconic to old time gear heads. A nice tribute to a very historic brand. Thanks Rob.
Nice work on this Stude. Colors are nice but not correct for a golden hawk of 57. None the less you did a beautiful job. I would have gone with black tires as this is a restoration plus. Love to have this sitting next to some of my other Studebaker toys.
Wow! What a beauty 😎 Very nice colours and awesome detailing. That base looked very good when polished with new fresh tires. Yeah Studebaker sure made cool and unique looking cars.
I used to have enormous problems with 2 toning. The colour would always lift with the masking tape to base metal taking the primer with it, no matter what brand, until i heard about etch primer. (Hycote is one i tend to favour). Even mono colours used to chip
dude, this stude is butiful again. :) not sure about dinky and corgi, but I think the corgi is a bit more narrow, and lacks the emblem on the tailfins. but it came gold-plated. anyway, beautiful colours. ^^
Hey, Rob My best toys during the sixties were Dinky's toys, and I remember begging my mother, with endless promises that she would agree to buy me the latest model ...
Beautiful build, Rob. Having owned 6 of these actual cars, I love how this turned out. The textured or louvred panel at the back was chrome on the golden hawk and GT variants with a flat untextured panel in body colour on the base model Hawk. Cheers, mate.
WOW beautiful casting i love the dinkys i do them myself after watching you . I started on the 1/75 matchbox but found myself drawn to dinkys because I can cheat and use spray cans . No airbrush cleaning JOY 😂and better results on metallic colours (am I bad) RIP faithful hotdog jar .You will be missed ! But not forgotten 😢
Mate thanks for the compliments! That give me even more motivation to make videos :)
Thanks Nick, loved how your build turned out 🔥🔥🔥
98.73 percent paint removal. What a beautiful job on a beautiful casting. Great work Rob.
The Golden Hawk and Silver Hawks were ahead of their time
A car that has Golden in its name should look golden - you did a perfect job on this! 👌👍💪
The Hawk is one of my top 5 most loved cars ever mass produced.
Beautiful color choices Rob.
Wow ... striking colours ... great job ... RIP Footy ...
Of all the vintage cars made, that'd be one I'd love to drive. Classy and sporty all the same time.
Brilliant! It’s too hard to decide who did a better job. Congratulations to both of you!
Stunning work on that two tone! Great transformation, Rob!
I love Studebakers! I drive a 1949 Studebaker 2R-5 truck. They are very reliable. Those Golden Hawks were quite fast cars back in the day.
What can I say, but WoW!!! That car looks marvelous! You sure brought that back to life! 👍
Lovely casting. Yeah that car looks so much better now
Looks really great Rob, I hope this vid gets to 2k likes because I would love to have it!
A great turn around for the sad model. Very nice two tone, great job. 👍Col
Beautiful job, excellent paint choice, would not be surprised to see a Hawk in that color combination, 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Welcome back Rob! It’s been a while! Gorgeous detailing job as usual - That front - wow! Congrats on a perfect job

Better than the original paint job 💯 percent fantastic
That thing is gorgeous!

Nice restoration and paint job 👌
Brilliant job.. one of the best so far
That came out awesome rob.👍

Lovely Sir :) Hope all is well
Excellent job matey, looks great. 👍👍
one of my favourite Dinkys; have my original toy still, which I'm glad to say looks better. Lovely model :-)
Beautiful job, Rob! I love these old cars. AS regards the wheels, I restored a vauxhall victor estate recently and had to buy new wheels as the originals melted in the caustic solution!
Cool Rob real nice 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Went over to Nick’s and he did a good job! I’ll give you the win though mate!

Nice job Rob , nicely done . My opinion , i think it would be better with black tires . Thumbs up
Both Studebakers turned out very nice. I could not chose one to win even if my life depended on it.
Nice job i enjoyed watching this one .....thanks for sharing 👍

Wonderful work, Kudos and greetings from The P.I. !
nice job Rob
great video today and awesome job on this one
Beautiful job.

Back didnt realize i watched this one. You should get what's called a drill dr. It will sharpen your drill tips so you can keep using them.
Turned out Amazing !!
Great job! Looks amazing!
The infamous Studebaker Hawk finally does in the foot-long hot dog jar! I can't believe it!
Beautiful car! If James Bond had been an American, he would have driven the Golden Hawk.
Beautiful Car, Great colour
Wow. another great job!
Great work!!!
Hi rob and family great video and I’m saying 95.5 for paint removal 👍💙⚙️
Very Nice job.👍
Nicely done! I owned a couple of Studebaker's (real ones) and really loved them.
What happened to Studebaker?

Distinctly recall ordering ours in 'Antarctic Blue' with the CB and optional Rally Fun Pack...
awesome job
what a beautiful car
Beautiful Rob, really beautiful. I love Dinky's so well made and this is just beautiful. Right off to see what the old handy dandy screwdriver has done with his.
I’m never sure what the handy dandy screwdriver is up to 😜

This looks great Rob, I like them both for different reasons, but the colours on this really pop.
Nice job Rob, lovely colour choice and as always outstanding execution. Both challenge cars are wonderful!

good to see you again was starting to wonder if everything was ok
The Studebaker looks like a modern custom rebuild with that paint job .
So cool

Amazing look on that one.
Outstanding job! That would go perfect with my studebaker collection!
