  • First orchids repotted this year. Actually the first in the shadehouse. Put directly back in to shadehouse without any special care.
And they are all doing well. Even the Onidcidium which was close to death.
I do get asked for updates on my repot videos so here it is.

Good Day/evening. Thank you for the update on these repotted orchids. They look so good. I have come to the conclusion that after I repot an orchid I just let it be and they seem to do well. If I pamper them they seem to give me the headache. So well done. Thank you for taking us along and enjoy the rest of the day.

Yes exactly. And the truth is they end up getting neglected indoors now. At least outside they get good airflow (underrated) and regular watering!! 😂

Great update. Any orchid shows coming up in Brissie? I was hoping you would do a video of one?
We have a few in NSW coming up in the next few months and it’s very exciting to hopefully go to the first one in years!

Hi ...Tuula from Cleveland .😊You have nice greenhouse ... .How do you manage to keep your orchids alive this year it's been raining so much .. Phaleonpsis and others ???

Unfortunately not all did so well. If you see my recent ‘April update’ video it shows I lost several - mainly the neofinetias which was unexpected. Technically if you have a very well draining media (not water retentive) the plant roots should do ok. Surprisingly most of the orchids were fine. We were away down in Tasmania at the time of the heavy flooding so I couldn’t check on any of them during this time too!!

Hi, i live on the central coast nsw. Im looking at planting my phals in leca beads going from a orchid potting mix.
Have you done this and have had success?

My Phalaenopsis hieroglyphica var alba did nothing for 9 months (just roots), then all of a sudden it started to push leaves and now doing that nonstop. Don’t know why, but since it did not deteriorate, I let it do its thing.

Lovely update! So inspired by you approach and set up! Where do you get you squat clear pots from? I’m on the Sunny Coast so might be close enough to chase them down :)

I can’t see a new video from you but I must find out how your Cattleya dowiana is doing? I’d love to own one & live in Brisbane

Give lots of credit to anyone who grows orchids in winter states. Their home is south Miami or Hawaii. Lol

Good to see your little lovelies doing well since their repotting. They look like they will flower beautifully soon. For fertiliser, I am in Australia too and I use Neutrog Strike Back for Orchids in pellets and in liquid formats. Will see what happens this year! 😀 Already have a good flowering coming on a few which are outside all of the time. 🌟🐞🦋

Oh I might check those pellets out. I really like strike back, with then seaweed component. Are the pellets slow release? Do you know how long they last?

@@OrchieDee I just chuck on a pinch or two per small pot. The leaves are a lovely green. The pellets are an orchid version (not so strong smelling) as Dynamic Lifter. Better than a slow release as it's more organic. I put my neighbour onto it and she said that it was her best flowering year! Good luck😀
