FIELDS OF FIRE
GERMANY 1995
Between a father and a son
Between the city and the one
Before the teacher and the test
Before the journey and the rest
The shining eye will never cry
The beating heart will never die
The house on fire holds no shame
I will be coming home again
400 miles without a word until you smile
400 miles on fields of fire
Between a woman and a boy
Between a child and his toy
Between a woman and a boy
Between a child and a toy
Before the following of the west
Before the journey and the rest
400 miles without a word until you smile
400 miles without a word until you smile
400 miles on fields of fire
Not a band on the planet could beat Big Country live..clock the weather and the crowd..incredible..We miss you Stuart..thanks for making our lives better
I was born to late to see him in person
I think this band and Stuart is so underrated and they definitely served me well in my childhood and teenage years
I was lucky enough to be introduced to them by my dad
@@tesshutchings4486 I wish you coulda seen them. It was a moving experience
Absolutely. Stunning live. So lucky to have seen them in the 80’s. My word.
I hope she treasures those photos. Wonderful times. X
The greatest live band in the world! Totally in touch with their audience. I would trade all of the live concerts I've seen in my lifetime to have seen them live in the summer of 1984 when I graduated and these guys ruled the new wave airwaves! Rest in peace Stuart ... your music lives on and it is your legacy.
One of the amazing bands to see great music
I saw them live... maybe 1983? In New Orleans. It was the best concert I've ever seen It was moving. Stuart had tears in him eyes when he came out for the encore The best live band of all time
I’ll second that .!!
I saw them many times with Stuart in their absolute pomp: Often left crying tears of joy. Ears ringing, hoarse and worn out. Beautiful memories ❤🤟🏻
I am 68 now and have seen so many live acts in my time, Stones ,Clapton, Who - thes guys really are up there with the very best. Absolutely brilliant - I love them.
one of the greatest bands ever...with a legend out front.....no bullshit, just tore into every performance,,,,Rest In Peace my man..miss you..
I try to remind myself, "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened" RIP Stuart, you were the greatest.
I'll sure say, big country fucking rocked!!!!! definitely not the same without stuart, look at it this way, stuart gave his all, poured the soul of scotland into his guitar, singing all of it, and he definitely went out with a shout! -come up screaming! I liken it to mel gibson playin william wallace-another SCOTTISH thing there :) when right before his head gets chopped off, he yells F R E E D O M )))))))))))))))))))))))
I'm crying because it happened, tears of joy !!
he died way too young!! great musician!
Beautiful man...brilliant musician, RIP .never forgotten....
He absolutely was. Legendary.
UNREAL - can't even imagine how much fun it would have been to join the band on stage.
Awesome drummer...Awesome band. cant get enough of that freakin' sound!!! Todays bands.....idk all of you or how good you are live but take note. This is how its done By God!!!!
I miss Stuart..RIP ole buddy..Big Country will always be my fave bands of all time..............................

Ditto on that. Took my breath away, awesome.
Stuart Adamson RIP. What a sad loss,..
There will never be a band to walk this planet better than Big Country !! So under estimated its shocking !! Four Fantastic musicians here at there very best ,. Get your headphones on and enjoy !!
One of the best live band EVER!!
Now that, my young Friends, is how it's DONE.
RIP Stuart Adamson - love your music so much !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great post. Classic. Still love his work with Raphaels, Shattered Cross. Big Country where great. Long live Stuart Adamson. RIP Stuart a real talent.
Ta, John.
I remember the good ole days of Stuart and Bruce in the Skids along with Richard Jobson,Into the Valley,The Saints are Coming etc etc...then came Big Country with a slight change but another great success with the Legendary Mr Adamson....
Such a sad loss..
Was lucky enough to see them Live at Cornwall Colliseum back in about 82/83.
Porrohman went down a storm.
how can you dislike this?! THIS. IS. MUSIC. And I f●cking love it!
Real music........never to be seen again.RIP Stuart,Legend.
indeed, totally...........it was like fresh outta medieval times..........
REAL MUSIC indeed! not this trash today, when Stuart broke out in that guitar solo......EPIC! he poured the SOUL OF SCOTLAND into that guitar!
once met Stuart and Mark the drummer after a gig in Leeds many years ago, 2 of the most down to earth chaps ive ever had the pleasure of meeting , ebeded up pissed and showing stuart the way to the queens hotel i didnt spend a penny either just a fantastic memory of a wonderful night with a man who will be sadly missed. r.i.p stuart.
If that was after they rocked Leeds town hall , I was there , one of my top five gigs ever !
Hard to believe 17 years have past since Stuart took his own life, deep guy, musical genius. Be at peace x
A lovely, modest gentle man - such a loss. Can't watch this without the tears coming. Thanks so much for uploading.
Big Country never became huge in the US, but they were mighty loved (and mighty popular) in Southern California in the 80s (along with the Alarm, The Cure, and many other UK bands).
One of my favorite songs of all time.
What a song!!! I cried everytime I heard it! I will pray for his soul, RIP Stuart!
Ankle deep in rain and that field was still on fire.
foreign fans all over the world are the best, respectful, not rude, appreciative of anything, whatever they get, american fans are the true assholes who care for no one but themselves, cut line, will run right over you, I can't enjoy a live show of a band I like around americans,
damn right!!! my buddies and i were listening to more hard rock/metal in those days when i first heard bc on the radio playing in a big country. just blown away by these guys and their sound. ive been a fan ever since. im 47 now. i still say they didnt get the full recognition they deserve. one of the best drummers to grace the airwaves. these guys influenced my own music style. got the scottish irish awww hell the whole uk thing in my blood and they tapped into it and pulled it to the surface lol. love 'em love 'em love 'em.
Kevin Langley well put fella, I totally agree these guys were mustard loved em then and in the after life, rip stu.
Amen Amen and AMEN, CRAIG!
Brilliant solo great band .

This is the best song that came out of Scotland ever nothing near it what a number
Cool👍☮🆗️😉
I fell in love with big country when I first heard this in my early teens Massive!
Wayne Kieft I loved the albums of theirs the actual lps that I have til this day! I almost wore holes from playin them over and over. My Dad would yell turn that down and I cranked it up!
In a big country dreams stay with you
Like a lover's voice fires the mountainside
Stay alive
Unforetunately he didnt:-(
In a Big Country, dreams are made for you!
It`s an absolute f****ng tragedy that Stuart is no longer with us, this guy was a true genius, it`s a fair comment to say that alcohol can take one to some very dark places.......such a waste...
another one of a kind, like mike 'hutch' hutchence of INXS
Chrissy S no more intro into the dark Monsignor
Bang on pal
12 steps(religious drug and alcohol programe) and alcohol
EPIC.Please energy of 80's and 90's come back ! we need it more than ever
Great song, Great band and the Great Stuart Adamson.
65sparx oh yes a legends best band period.
i might only be 14 but i still have tons of big country cd's love this music absolutely amazing wish they still made music like this
aw.... such a beautiful show. still hurts to hear that voice... the ironic thing is his music saved many lives... but not his own. tragic. x
I saw Big County at Newcastle City Hall about 85 I think. After the fist song the PA blew. They went off briefly came back on and the same thing happened again. They went off for longer this time maybe 20 mins. When they came back on they played for 2 hours. At the end of the set Stuart said we’re really sorry about the start of the show. We want you to pick up a ticket on your way out and we’ll come back in two weeks time and play a free gig for you all. They then played at least two encores. The gig was amazing full stop but to come back and play for us again on what I believe was one of few nights off they had on the tour was something incredibly special.
I grew up with this band...nothing kicks the nostalgia feels in the teeth more than this song. This is the song that made me want to play the drums, to form bands, to love music for my entire life. Big Country is so much more than a collection of masterful songs to me. Thank you for posting this video!
my feelings exactly, it made me play the drums and form bands....
I have no music ability so it makes me want to leap around with a big grin on my face. Which is what I'm going to do now.
Ditto here - and I'm still trying to play like Mark after all these years!
Me too! It fired my 14 year old spirit in 1982 and it’s never left me. Tricky Brezezicki one of the great drummers in one of the great bands.
R.I.P. Stuart Adamson , you and this fantastic sound will allways be in our hearts , for ever
+Dirk Engelhardt scotland has a unique sound all its own doesn't it :)
too sad to see a great man no longer here!rip guitar hero!
love your music forever, from Slovenia...
i,ll be playing this at the bells...3.40secs and and i,ll be fighting away the tears the night...Happy New Year to 2011
Best version ever. God bless ye Mr Adamson
R.I.P.. Stuart. .The music lives on....
Every time I watch this makes me glad in the heart that I named my son Stuart,
One in A Million! We will never know what happened that day. It won't bring him back. A magpie in a rainbow whistling Fields of Fire... His music is still alive. Pinkpop Classic 2012 salutes Stuart Adamson!
pure class......stuart adamson......still sadly missed. saw them 6 times.....still rocks
This is by far, my FAVORITE version of this song. Holy cow, man. Ho-ly. Cow.
Without a doubt, one of best live shows I ever saw.
great version to play through the bells the night...3.40 secs...i,ll be fighting tears the night...Happy new year to yeahs 2011
The man is the most beautiful soul on God's great earth! R.I.P Stuart.
What a wet gig but Stuart seemed to genuinely want the fans to have a great time. What a true gent. Love your music. Thank you Big Country. RIP Stuart.
All children in Scotland do Scottish country dancing at school, only Stuart Adamson realised how to progress this traditional music giving it a greater relevance.
What about Runrig?
Just listened to the 'Steeltown' album for the first time since the early '80's, when I bought it & played it to death...sounding so dense & Celtic, highly original stuff! The bass end reminds me of the Cocteaus on that album.
+spuffchops70 80s on back RULE! amen!
All time favourite track❤️❤️
Wow, what a performance! Always loved this track but have never seen this vid, thanks for sharing. RIP Stuart.
Brings a lump to my throat to see them here, what a fucking band and what a fucking guitarist Stuart was !!. Just reading through all the comments posted here I see that so many people loved Big Country very much , and still do. I saw them twic, INCREDIBLE

as I am from Aberdeen in Scotland, I can confirm Stuart is and always will be remembered as a fucking legend!
Everybody having a great time - not a mobile phone in site !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's because german fans and majority if not all fans round the world ARE THERE TO TRULY ENJOY AND TAKE IN THE SHOW! and, unlike PATHETIC so called american fans, DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT MOBILE PHONES!

What a sweetie on how he is towards his fans/people. Just amazing!!!
to bloody right great band your statement is spot on
Gone but not forgotten!
Fantastic live band , stumbled across them in a tent at the short lived Heineken festival at Roundhay park in Leeds about 1993 , as an old punk I wasn't ashamed to wax lyrically about what I witnessed that night . Some much energy they nearly burnt the f***ing tent down , god bless fellas !
I was there too. Fab night.
Big country, the only band that could bring Celtic and rangers fans together beit temporarily over their 3 hour concerts. Scotland 🏴
Stuart was amazing such a shame he left us so soon the good 1s always go first .... R.I.P your music lives on always 2013 and many more years to come :)

This is why you should see bands playing live. When they are on top form they can create an experience of a lifetime.
RIP stuart..the lead singer
I grew in southern cali as i teen in the 80s and at 47 years old i still love them. This song takes me back in time to this day. Love it god bless them
Fantastic music stuart. All always
Murikan here, but I got 25% Scottish blood. Dunno what that means, really, but I feel shots of pride listening to this ecstatic music. Wow, Stuart, I know he was a great player, and so does The Edge!
Stuart would have turned 63 today..11 April 1958 Manchester - 16 December 2001 Honolulu.
He took his own like a few miles from where I live.. So sad. We you Love Stuart..
One Scotland's finest sons🎸
simply fantastic i had the pleasure in watching them in poole many moons ago but still have not seen anyone better or come close what a waste of talent
I'll always be thankful for the day my late brother dropped a record into my lap and said "play that." It was 1979 and the record was "Into the Valley" The day I discovered Stuart Adamson. Thanks bruv. Stuart was the best. What he created is genius. Can only wonder what we've all missed out on since he went.
RIP, and thank you.
prob the best guitarist of the scene. can you tell I luv him? unashamedly Scottish . JB
What I wouldn't give to have seen them live
Live in concert there was no band better rip stu we all love u
Absolutely magnificent band. Tragic waste of exceptional talent. Great to see the crowd loving this epic anthem of there’s. He loved to get crowd members on to the stage to share the experience 👍👍😊😊 brilliant 👍
I saw them in the early 90's in Leeds. They were brilliant! What a sad loss.
