Just been diagnosed with cancer and this video is the only thing that has made me smile in the last 2 weeks . Seen them 6 times the best live band ever !
This, 110%. Steeltown in particular is HIS album -- he drives the entire thing, from the very first note to the very last. I was lucky enough to have a nice long chat with him at an event a couple of years ago, and a nicer more humble man you could never wish to meet. He adored Stuart and still feels the pain of losing him.
To this day, the greatest band ever and if you never pogo'd in the crowd to classics like Fields of Fire, then you never got to experience the intensity of it all, saw them 15 times live and they were as brilliant every time. RIP Stuart.

+Tricky Tredder You lucky man. I found BC like 7 years ago and have all their records and DVD's. And of course I have to agree with you :) Thank god we have these DVD's! Me and my friends have Big Country night every year in Christmas time in memory of Stuart.
+Cava Queen BC were my first gig also, way back in 83 in the Apollo in Glasgow. 5 of us travelled to the gig in an a clapped out orange Austin Allegro. Oh happy days!!!!!!!!
Trevor Abbo brilliant comment buddy. I saw the about the same amount of times. First time in Brum 82 I think! I am watching this video with tears in my eyes. A truly incredible band, and fans!
There is no other band with that sound, then or now, nor that energy. Many are good live or entertaining but Big Country are great! The Crossing has to be one of the best albumns from start to finish. And even better live!
Music from the heart ! First time I saw Stuart Adamson was at the Loch Lomond festival in 1979 when he was playing with the Skids. The Skids blew every band off the stage that day including The Stranglers who are another of my fave bands. Next time I seen Stuart Adamson was at the Reading Rock festival in 1983 and The Stranglers were headlining again. Yeah, Big Country blew them off the stage as well. Coldplay ? Scouting For Girls ? The Wombats ? F*ck off this is real music !
"The Flying Keo" (Cyprus) Still a great band live in 2019, Still get the sell-out audiences (admittedly a bit older)---`Bouncing` !! RIP Stuart Adamson.
Saw them in 1983 in Hammersmith Odeon, they were fantastic, done an encore of this with The Drummer Mark B did a drumming solo for 3 /4 minutes to the Fields of Fire lasting 9/10 minutes. All was shouts of More,More,More all over the Odeon. Best Concert I ever saw. Stuart Adamson R.I.P., you were the Best.
The debut album is one of those rare achievements of being so strong you play it through every time you put it on the turntable then realize you know every word to every song. A fantastic band!
As a Glaswegian I saw them live in the old st. Austell coliseum in carlyon bay.....without doubt the most energetic, exhilarating, sweaty, draining and life affirming concert I’ve ever been to in my 54 years.....amazing band!
I was 14 and my first girlfriend got me into this she was beutiful but she was more beutiful for leaving me with this music in my soul. i still love her and i love big country.
Ahh that's lovely. Do you have her phone number ? When I was 14 my GF at the time got me hooked on wanking me off whilst wearing a glove (her not me). I can't remember her name.
Discreetly stowed away in a corner of the 1980s music scene, Big Country was anathema to the mainstream. A guitar heavy band performing power chords with poetic lyrics. This band simply does not get the lasting credit they deserve.
no band i had seen of have seen since had that ability to make the room just expode with joyous energy. Stuart grew into that front man role and had a connection with the audience i have rarely seen. phil lynott and bruce springstten are the only ones i can think of that had that kind of connection. that is pretty good comapny to keep
Don't complicate things with long words or essays just know that these guys were one of the best fricken bands ever......... That is all..... Bless you Stuart Adamson, your missed bro ....
the tempo, the beat and the bagpipe sound that stuart got is what i always loved about big country. mark came to a gig i was doing once as his brother steve was playing bass for us at the time, and i got to have a chat with him. r.i.p stuart not forgotten.
This song is so Great it makes me emotional... 0 dislikes and there should never, ever be... Good GOD, was this band one of the greatest that there ever was..... Gives me the chills when I hear it... It is that good, moves a grown man to tears....
New Years Eve 83/84. Shown on BBC2 if memory serves correctly. I was hooked ever since. Was lucky enough to see them live 11 times from 86 to 99. RIP Stuart.
Absolutely fucking bad ass. I'm about to run outside and start high-fiving my fuken neighbors!!!!!!!!!!! This has been a New Year's Eve classic for me for years...
Seen them twice. First time at knebworth supporting what turned out to be the last concert Queen did. Saw them again at Birmingham. Amazing band. rip Stuart
I saw them live in 1986 NYC. I had and HAVE every album. Had them all on vinyl first but Big Country on cd was later than other bands as the conversion to cd started in the late 80's. They are so overlooked and underrated. The craftsmanship of the music and writing are just top notch. RIP Stu.
+Ledyard Pritchard i agree sad that so many talent was overlooked. live they were on of the best band at their time. i saw them in germany it was mind blowing.
Amazing live band, saw them with 140,000 at Knebworth and !000 at Porthcawl, same energy at both shows, not many bands can do that, RIP Stuart you will always remembered.
This brings back memories of my youth! Big Country deserved more recognition for their great sound. Lyrically and musically superior to 99.9% of the bands currently dominating music
They tried it on bagpipes, possibly in Canada , its a long time ago. The story was on T.V. possibly the Tube. The result was apparently terrible. Stuart was a genuinely nice guy, as I'm sure all of Big Country are. Saw them on the Fall tour, was this from there? The best gig ever, our little town Fleetwood was added last minuet on a sell out tour. They gave us a pound back on realising how poor Fleetwood was, £5:50 down to £4:50. Big Country did this, not the promoter. Seriously good people. Superb Band.
Just been diagnosed with cancer and this video is the only thing that has made me smile in the last 2 weeks . Seen them 6 times the best live band ever !
Wishing you a speedy healing.
Never saw them. One appearance on SNL. Immediately bought the crossing.
lets just hope that you can recover , all best
Take care. Their music is timeless and energy totally addictive… stay strong
Nothing makes you want to cry and fight like these romantic songs.
Tony Butler ... possibly the most under rated bass player of all time
This, 110%. Steeltown in particular is HIS album -- he drives the entire thing, from the very first note to the very last. I was lucky enough to have a nice long chat with him at an event a couple of years ago, and a nicer more humble man you could never wish to meet. It's actually good when Stuart breaks that string because we get to hear Tony's bassline isolated for a few bars.
To this day, the greatest band ever and if you never pogo'd in the crowd to classics like Fields of Fire, then you never got to experience the intensity of it all, saw them 15 times live and they were as brilliant every time. RIP Stuart.

+Tricky Tredder I only saw them once, my very first concert, what a way to start , BEST TIME EVER ,,,,,,,,, R I P Stuart :(
+Cava Queen BC were my first gig also, way back in 83 in the Apollo in Glasgow. 5 of us travelled to the gig in an a clapped out orange Austin Allegro. Oh happy days!!!!!!!!
I saw them live twice in the 80s'. Both shows just shredded.
Trevor Abbo brilliant comment buddy. I saw the about the same amount of times. First time in Brum 82 I think! I am watching this video with tears in my eyes. A truly incredible band, and fans!
I NEVER tire of these guys, this line-up and their first two records even a zillion years later! ❤. And how can we not miss Stuarts voice!?
you wont find bands like this no more
There is no other band with that sound, then or now, nor that energy. Many are good live or entertaining but Big Country are great! The Crossing has to be one of the best albumns from start to finish. And even better live!
I am so Goddamn proud to be of Scottish descent right now. 🥰💙🥃🏴

Words will never describe how phenomenal this is. Hope ye found peace Stuart. Wish you'd practiced what you preached and Stayed Alive. R.I.P big man.
If I had a De Lorean, I'd set it for this time and place! What a gig!
Big Country is just one of the best live bands ever!
"The Flying Keo" (Cyprus)
Still a great band live in 2019, Still get the sell-out audiences (admittedly a bit older)---`Bouncing` !! RIP Stuart Adamson.
The greatest live musical moment ever when the guitars ignite on fields of fire
If I could go back to any place at any time in my lifetime, it would be to be at this concert. X
Every now and then an album come out where every track is brilliant.this is one of them,a classic 🎸🎸
One of the greatest live performances of all time!
Just a wonderful talent.seen 14 times live and never disappointed, pure genius
This is What I turn back 2 again and again - Pure talent
The debut album is one of those rare achievements of being so strong you play it through every time you put it on the turntable then realize you know every word to every song. A fantastic band!

R.I.P. Stuart Adamson
As a Glaswegian I saw them live in the old st. Austell coliseum in carlyon bay.....without doubt the most energetic, exhilarating, sweaty, draining and life affirming concert I’ve ever been to in my 54 years.....amazing band!
Shout out to the tech for that nice guitar switch.
Imagine you could bottle goosebumps?!
Pure joy!
they got the sound perfect for this gig. the recorded versions were good, but this gig drips sweat and fucking rocks.
A great song that amazingly was even better when they performed it live - still think they were underrated to this day
This music hits you so so hard, but you feel no pain.
Big Country.....A very good band that should have bigger than it was.
Stuart Adamson is a musical God to me, I adore him
RIP Stuart, still makes the hairs on my neck stand up!!!!
Great song great guitarist great pars fan rip Stuart coyp
I was 14 and my first girlfriend got me into this she was beutiful but she was more beutiful for leaving me with this music in my soul. i still love her and i love big country.

this is amazing---better than nirvana or u2..its got sincerity from a great soul..the guitars knock me out ....i wish he would have survived..rip
Discreetly stowed away in a corner of the 1980s music scene, Big Country was anathema to the mainstream. A guitar heavy band performing power chords with poetic lyrics. This band simply does not get the lasting credit they deserve.

Stuart Adamson bless his memory great music
Still makes the hair's on my neck stand up. About the only place I have hair now 😂. It's when the guitars burst into life😊
One of the drummers who influenced me more than any other- especially that military style beat that utilized the whole kit.
Me too. Massively.
one of the best bands ever sadly overlooked live when this song ignites magic happens
The Crossing
One Of The Best Albums .........ever
the tempo, the beat and the bagpipe sound that stuart got is what i always loved about big country. mark came to a gig i was doing once as his brother steve was playing bass for us at the time, and i got to have a chat with him.
r.i.p stuart not forgotten.
This performance makes me so happy every time I come back to it. And that bass man rocks. They all do. It's just so exuberant and full of life.
Miss the 80s concerts we went to jump around and have a good time mobile phones have ruined concerts
Still have so much love for this band.
I've seen many many live shows… but nothing compared to these boys live Its what live music was meant to be

as he announces the title of the song just as it's about to explode. my god, 'cos we know what's coming. the best.
Always thought this band was American, no just another decent UK band. We make the best music
Just sheer fucking Joy!
I love this one look all the people jumping and singing entire concert awareness sweet awesomeness
the energy, the voice, the sound of the guitar and the base, come on. its one of the best live giggs ever
I was at that concert many years ago. Utterly brilliant memory of my youth. ❤😂
New Years Eve 83/84. Shown on BBC2 if memory serves correctly.
I was hooked ever since. Was lucky enough to see them live 11 times from 86 to 99.
RIP Stuart.
I think it was the Edinburgh playhouse concert the year after this that was on tv
The drummer is a frickin stud. He's got the depth of Kenny Aronson. All these guys were great musicians.
Nearly 1.5 thousand likes and not a single dislike. On UA-cam that's virtually unheard of.. Says all you need to know about this magnificent band.
to me the definitive version of this great song
Was at the Seattle Moore Theater Show. Nov. 9 1983. Life changing show for sure. Along with U2, Clash, Simple Minds a great time for music.
What can you say.
Best live band ever.
Absolutely fucking bad ass. I'm about to run outside and start high-fiving my fuken neighbors!!!!!!!!!!! This has been a New Year's Eve classic for me for years...
It's not a gimmick!
It's incredible!
Seen them twice. First time at knebworth supporting what turned out to be the last concert Queen did. Saw them again at Birmingham. Amazing band. rip Stuart

Sensational band and years ahead of their time
Marvellous gig
Every song wants you to dance and be silly x loved them and the second Country are good , seen them ten times ish I thinks !
I have no doubt if Stuart would have conquered his demons Big country would still be a band at the very top they just had that about them.
Got this whole concert on VIDEO saw them at Reading rock 83. A few years after the skids
what a brilliant band, a life taken so young
so much talent lost too soon
Yes fantastic Stuart is a fantastic guitar player in the skids and big country
Tony Butler... a beast!
Brilliant....you can just feel the energy.
To those who have only just discovered B/C.. check out the track called " INWARDS" at Pier New York.. it's on UA-cam
Grew up in the 80’s with The Crossing, brilliant album.
Missed the last train back hame tae Paisley that night and had tae walk it
Holy G_d, this gives me chills...the music of the free!
Brill..scotlands finest!
This brings back memories of my youth! Big Country deserved more recognition for their great sound. Lyrically and musically superior to 99.9% of the bands currently dominating music
Scotland forever!!! Stuart forever!!!
Auf den Song hab ich dreimal live getanzt, unglaublich gut----Danced three times on this song live performed, outstanding
i'm so glad i'm 54 and was around for their breakout.
r.i.p. Stuart...The UK had more talent than the rest of the world combined.
That UK comment is a load of bullshit.
Best ever musicians Stuart just amazing I wish I could of been there

Canadian fan here. They were brilliant. Loved the band. Never had the pleasure of seeing them live.
