Your advice is sage and accurate Marc. I'm similar to yourself in being spiritual yet agnostic, believing that humanity cannot truly comprehend any greater power, and every religion fails here. However, I'm respectful that others find solace and inner understanding through their formal religious beliefs. So, I met ten years ago a guy who was an observant Orthodox Jew, and we have been together since then as I respect him- that's it. Add to this our twenty years of age difference, and I feel I'm setting some kind of gay record LOL!!

Marc, glad to see you back, and I think your advise was on.... I'm from the south and was raised a Jehovah's Witness as a child. My parents died when I was 7 and was raised by my sister. She was married to a Baptist. It was not fun early on . Lots of fighting early on until they both agreed to leave their prospective religions. Add to that being gay, I was never comfortable with myself until after college and post-graduate training. After that everything was great. I don't think of myself as a Atheist, I consider myself spiritual.

as much as I am an atheist, i cant help to be jealous of Religious people because research shows the benefits of it, low rates of depression and overall better health. And i go to churches and they are such good people. So i would prefer to date religious people and even have my kids believe in a God because its better for their mental health. But strive to balance critical thinking in them, that way bigotry is reduced
Do you care so little about what is true that you would rather teach your children untrue things for what you perceive as practical benefits? Reason will not permit me that... I actually care that what I believe is true and would want my children to do the same. There is no body of evidence that conclusively proves the religious are happier and healthier. If anything the opposite is true based on stats taken from more vs less religious countries. In virtually every measure of well being the less religious counties score higher in education, standard of living, health and life span. For instance citizens of Denmark (a country of mostly atheists and seculars) is recognized as being the happiest in the world. The "research" you quoted base their results on church attendance. But consider this... healthy people are generally more active and therefore more likely to attend church and so get declared religious. Likewise unhealthy people are less active and so tend not to attend church and get lumped in with the non-religious.
You sound perfect for me. I’m catholic but I would prefer dating an atheist and I wouldn’t want to influence my children religiously and instead let them choose for themselves (but I’ll let my partner decide). I do hope I meet someone as balanced and logical as you

Lifting yes, although Ive got a shoulder issue I'm dealing with so much lighter than usual. Cardio some, but on the dieting side i have been indulging alot!
With your shoulder is it anterior, lateral or posterior? Just curious with a shoulder issue are you also lighter in your incline chest press because of your shoulders? You should indulge yourself you have earned it.

I mean, a relationship cursed or blessed by beliefs and religions require two grown ups to blossom and focus on the actual kind of love at hand, the one that matters.

You Might be mistaken by you own bias. Using myself as an example, my husband and I are both atheists. We have been together 27 years and share almost ever interest in our lives together. We are super compatible. Neither one of us has ever had a drink of alcohol, used any tobacco products, nor have either of us ever used a recreational drug even once. For the full 27 years we have been 100% monogamous and we are so happily growing old together. We are both completely honest with each other. We are considered by our friends to be community role models and all around pretty good guys. We have no debt, we have saved for our retirement. Being with someone who had loads of cognitive dissonance is of no interest to me or my husband. Religious people tend to be far more dishonest than the atheists I have met. You might want to find someone more like yourself. It pays off handsomely.

If neither of the two people cares, of course they can date each other. That being said however, I do have difficulty understanding gay people being religious. I mean have they not read the bible or koran? It just sounds a little masochistic to me if you know what christianity says about homosexualiity but still choose to cling to it. Hey Jim, thanks. I think there are two main reasons for gay religious people, cognitive dissonance and/or cherry picking the good parts. Then of course many people straight and gay are only superficially religious where no real justification is needed because it's not a driving force in their life.
Jim Pavlyuchenko On the contrary, Christianity is based on the teachings of Jesus, who came to fulfill the laws of the Old Testament. Naturally in the New Testament and what Jesus taught there is no mention of homosexuality . Saying Christianity is against it is to do what conservatives do and cling to the Old Testament while ignoring what came to replace it.
Do: A faithful, religious, hopeful, kind, love giving person. Don't: A cult member, like a Klan member, a religious bully or a beliefs bigot, for example.

Your advice is sage and accurate Marc. I'm similar to yourself in being spiritual yet agnostic, believing that humanity cannot truly comprehend any greater power, and every religion fails here. However, I'm respectful that others find solace and inner understanding through their formal religious beliefs. So, I met ten years ago a guy who was an observant Orthodox Jew, and we have been together since then as I respect him- that's it. Add to this our twenty years of age difference, and I feel I'm setting some kind of gay record LOL!!

Hi, what product and routine would you advise to grow facial hair?
Marc, glad to see you back, and I think your advise was on.... I'm from the south and was raised a Jehovah's Witness as a child. My parents died when I was 7 and was raised by my sister. She was married to a Baptist. It was not fun early on . Lots of fighting early on until they both agreed to leave their prospective religions. Add to that being gay, I was never comfortable with myself until after college and post-graduate training. After that everything was great. I don't think of myself as a Atheist, I consider myself spiritual.

as much as I am an atheist, i cant help to be jealous of Religious people because research shows the benefits of it, low rates of depression and overall better health. And i go to churches and they are such good people. So i would prefer to date religious people and even have my kids believe in a God because its better for their mental health. But strive to balance critical thinking in them, that way bigotry is reduced
Do you care so little about what is true that you would rather teach your children untrue things for what you perceive as practical benefits? Reason will not permit me that... I actually care that what I believe is true and would want my children to do the same.
There is no body of evidence that conclusively proves the religious are happier and healthier. If anything the opposite is true based on stats taken from more vs less religious countries. In virtually every measure of well being the less religious counties score higher in education, standard of living, health and life span. For instance citizens of Denmark (a country of mostly atheists and seculars) is recognized as being the happiest in the world.
The "research" you quoted base their results on church attendance. But consider this... healthy people are generally more active and therefore more likely to attend church and so get declared religious. Likewise unhealthy people are less active and so tend not to attend church and get lumped in with the non-religious.
There are less neurotic ways to reduce depression. Look, your comments are Orwellian doublethink. Cut it out!

Lifting yes, although Ive got a shoulder issue I'm dealing with so much lighter than usual. Cardio some, but on the dieting side i have been indulging alot!
With your shoulder is it anterior, lateral or posterior? Just curious with a shoulder issue are you also lighter in your incline chest press because of your shoulders? You should indulge yourself you have earned it.

You Might be mistaken by you own bias. Using myself as an example, my husband and I are both atheists. We have been together 27 years and share almost ever interest in our lives together. We are super compatible. Neither one of us has ever had a drink of alcohol, used any tobacco products, nor have either of us ever used a recreational drug even once. For the full 27 years we have been 100% monogamous and we are so happily growing old together. We are both completely honest with each other. We are considered by our friends to be community role models and all around pretty good guys. We have no debt, we have saved for our retirement. Being with someone who had loads of cognitive dissonance is of no interest to me or my husband. Religious people tend to be far more dishonest than the atheists I have met. You might want to find someone more like yourself. It pays off handsomely.

If neither of the two people cares, of course they can date each other. That being said however, I do have difficulty understanding gay people being religious. I mean have they not read the bible or koran? It just sounds a little masochistic to me if you know what christianity says about homosexualiity but still choose to cling to it. Hey Jim, thanks. I think there are two main reasons for gay religious people, cognitive dissonance and/or cherry picking the good parts. Then of course many people straight and gay are only superficially religious where no real justification is needed because it's not a driving force in their life.
Jim Pavlyuchenko On the contrary, Christianity is based on the teachings of Jesus, who came to fulfill the laws of the Old Testament. Naturally in the New Testament and what Jesus taught there is no mention of homosexuality . Saying Christianity is against it is to do what conservatives do and cling to the Old Testament while ignoring what came to replace it.
Do: A faithful, religious, hopeful, kind, love giving person.
Don't: A cult member, like a Klan member, a religious bully or a beliefs bigot, for example.
