Had a few great 3+ ways where none of us were in a relationship with each other, and some dissapointing ones where i met up with couples -I wouldn’t bother with this type ever again, or want to have a 3 way with my partner. I think in many cases having a 3way can be the beginning of the downward spiral for a previously functional relationship. So I'd advise you to stay away from it if you are in a commited relationship and want it to stay that way.

Too many ppl make the assumption that just because someone / both ppl in a couple want a 3sum, it means problems. My partner and I had been talking about a 3sum for years. So we had a 3sum a few years ago and life just went on as normal following. We simply did it for fun and that was all. Both of us are very secure, have good self esteem, trust one another and we know we are solid. If you're in a shit relationship where one of both feel insecure before it, of course it will hasten the inevitable end, but you weren't going to last anyway.
I think people can do whatever they want in their relationship because it's not my business. But (personally) I believe if you're in a relationship just commit? Why invite possible issues into your relationship or potential for cheating in the future. If your sex life is getting dull then maybe question your connection. Inviting a third isn't going to solve a problem - It's a bandaid. If my boyfriend said "Let's have a three way" I'd be out the door in a flash.. Who wants to share the one they love and care for, certainly not me.
I would imagine that, for the most part, three ways are only good in the movies. I have to admit tho, I really wish I would've had more opportunities to experiment sexually. I never had the looks to move in those circles in the gay community.
