      Hi there. For ranking the order of Lewis acidity, should the order be B(CF3)3 > B(CH2CH3)3 > B(OME)3? CF3 group should be strongly deactivating and OMe is a stronger activating group than Ch2ch3 group. Thank you

      Shaine Maine alkanes have all single bonds, alkenes have 1 c-c double bond, alkynes have 1 c-c triple bond. he’s right that the C-H bonds are single but since there’s that C-C double bond, i believe it’s actually an alkene. he probably just made a mistake calling it alkane instead of alkene

    Hello, so if i named the alkene with 4carbon atoms and the double bond is between the 2 and 3 carbon as. But-2-ene . Is it right? Thanks

    • @mikhailfernandes8094
      @mikhailfernandes8094 4 місяці тому

      Yes. If we consider 4 carbon atoms it will be butene, and then to specify the position of the double bond at 2 it would be situated between carbon 2 and carbon 3. Therefore but-2-ene or 2-butene are both correct.

    Not trying to be the only one here but what is the explanation for the naming at 7:41? Why not 2-pentane why did you write 2-pentanone? Also why not hexane and hexanal? From my observation it has something to do with the ending of “carbonyl” taking that -nyl ending and molding it but how exactly? I feel like I’m your other videos you usually explain the procedure before hand but for your organic chemistry videos, you are not doing this and it’s confusing me a bit. I absolutely love you because your the reason why I passed all my math courses with an A (and also God I am not going to lie) but please be more specific on your chem videos.

    I was literally proofreading for the test and I was like: “ooooooo I'm going to rock it” and the teacher just sent an email saying the test was canceled 🥹Anyway, thank you! I loved it and it was a good exercise

    SO an alkane only contains single bonds of any kind? Or JUST C-H single bonds? They way its described is deliberately confusing.

    • @zrna279
      @zrna279 4 роки тому +3

      Alkanes contain single bonds between all of their carbons. As a sidenote, C-H bonds can only be single bonds due to the hydrogen only being able to hold 2 valence electrons

    kinda confused at 10:25, how is ethanoic acid differs from ethanoate and is it categorized in carboxyl group? somebody pls help me ;-;

    • @DerDrako
      @DerDrako 3 роки тому +1

      "Ethanoate" just refers to the part of the molecule until you hit the carbon atom behind the oxygen. Ethanoate is the rest of the ethanoic acid, if you take the carbon away.
