You made a video where you drew/explained each of these functional groups? Sounds like a really basic final project for college. More like high school.
Dear Leah At a rather old age, close to retirement from 45 years as a physics teacher at the faculty of Agriculture in Israel, I decided it's about time to try yet again to learn organic chemistry, especially the nomenclature. I found your videos very helpful. Cheers. German
You are awesome. I've been struggling with ochem and you seem to just... make it click in my head by explaining everything so clearly and in a way that people will remember and understand. Thank you very very much, Leah!
Just started a course in organic chemistry, my teacher's lecture was 2 hrs and I didn't understand what she was talking about. I watched this for 20 minutes, which covered exactly what my teacher was trying to explain for 2 hrs, and it was super helpful. Going to watch your nomenclature videos up next, I bet they are as helpful as this video was! Thank you so much!! Greetings from Sweden :)
I've been struggling to learn these for 4 months and you just helped me memorize every single one in less than half an hour. You're incredible thank you so much
Incredibly helpful!!!! Cramming for an anesthesia exam requiring basic knowledge of functional groups and this is a life-saver! I sat through a 3+ hour lecture and took away less from that class than I did this 21 minute video.
Thank so much for what you do Leah, I'm in my first year of a chemistry major and although I'm not very good yet, I'm really passionate and eager about the subject. You've made things a lot clearer and easier to understand for me. Again thank you!
Hi there! I love how you said “I’m not very good YET.” ❣️ It’s been 8 years since you wrote this comment, and I’m genuinely wondering, how did things go for you? Did you enjoy your major? I’m a junior in high school and all I want is to pursue chemistry, but I’m rather apprehensive about it. I hope your chemistry journey has been exciting and fulfilling.
just wanted to tell you that you are a great teacher that i can actually understand (i can never understand what my chemistry teacher in my university is saying) and i wanted to thank you for all the great videos you do on you-tube. to be honest your probably the only reason why i survived my 1 semester chem. class with a B. YOUR A LIFE SAVER!!!
Yes, it did help me a lot. Our finals is tomorrow and I barely passed all our previous exams, but this video made me understand one of the supposed-to-be basic lessons in OrgChem. I liked the ketone which did not like to be alone the most. Hahaha. Thank you!
Thank you so much I know this vdo already have lot of views and comments but Im here to say Im glad to be one of the people that found this vdo! it's a really good resource!
This video has been incredibly helpful to better remember and distinguish between the functional groups! Thank you so much. My favorite mneumonic was the one for ether - "on ether side is an R group." It just makes a ton of sense to me.
I thought I knew everything about functional groups already, but this video actually helped me learn even more! I learned that an epoxide is a 3-atom ring and it's also an ether. I learned that THF is a cyclic ether. I also learned that a thiol contains a -SH group! Thanks for helping me identify and fill in gaps in my knowledge.
This is everything I needed! I made a cheat chart on my test notes and I could have saved half a page for other info if I had just watched this first! Thank you so much!
Wow my professor need to take classes from you, he is average like any other professor but he still has a long way to go to taught like yourself he teaches but I have to look for help, but instead you make me understand everything in an hour of practice instead of 4 hours of just another language. Thank you for your incredible videos I might even pass this class with A
Clear Explanation! I'm recently running into some chemical nouns. I have to relearn them in English and they're really driving me mad. But thanks to you they won't bother me any more~Very nice of you!
You rock. I'm in my 50s and love chemistry. Should have gone to M.I.T. but got cancer instead. Still did alot with my brain as I've been in R+D the greater part of my life and live for this stuff. Thanks for bringing this back in my mind lol.
Be that I do not go to work everyday. I still try to get into my garage / Workshop. Witch is also a full fledged machine shop. I have many projects and not enough time given that my back does not cooperate with me and need to remember I'm not 20 anymore. I have 9 lithium battery pack which I am going through rebuilding and pulling out the bad cells and testing the capacity to make good units. This will be used for my house. After that I'm off to Savannah Georgia to a company called Santan solar to pick up panels. Electricity in Connecticut has gone through the roof with two previous increases of 68% and 50% respectively. Absolutely Bat sh## crazy. Trying to get ready for the war and crazy Democrats/ liberals that are destroying our country. Did you know there starting food shortage? If you're ever in Connecticut it would be my honor to take you out for a drink give me a shout.
For the sake of me I have no idea why 97 people gave this video a thumbs down. Have they spent a minute with some professors? Oh well, your videos are the best. Thank you.
