  • Freezing corn on the cob without blanching is an easy summer-time chore. We make freezing corn on the cob without blanching easier by processing it outside right next to the garden. Growing sweet corn is an art so freezing the harvest is extremely important.
    The process of freezing corn on the cob is made simple if performed outside. The way we process and freeze our corn will not heat up the kitchen. However, you can do this in your kitchen.
    I honestly did not believe that freezing corn on the cob without blanching would work so I did a one year test run. It worked great! Finally we show you how to load the freezer bag which is important when freezing sweet corn.

    I learned to cook my sweet corn in the husk in the microwave. 3 minutes per ear. All silks come on in one twist of the husk and it tastes fantastic. Haven't boiled away any flavor. Now I'm going to freeze it as you've done and hope that it can still be microwaved in the husk once thawed. Grew up in Illinois 80 years ago and love love love sweet corn. Thanks for you easy to learn from video.

    I grew up in Arkansas on sweet corn, fresh. Nothing better IMO. We save our grocery store bags. Put a few ears in depending on how big they are. Double tie them down. And add two more bags and tie them down as well. I have had no problems with this method at all, and it really does save a lot of time, especially if you’re like me and purchase a ton of it from the farm at once lol

    • @useful.knowledge
      @useful.knowledge  4 роки тому +6

      Hi. It really does not show any signs of freezer burn. I didn’t believe it for years but I decided to try a test run last year of about 10 bags. It worked. I never want to put out a video unless I know it will help people so I made certain that this was a success.
      All I do is take out how many ears I want to cook and place them in some hot water. About 5 minutes later, you can shuck them and then cook them. It’s so much faster than blanching. My wife, daughter, and I processed that whole tractor bucket in about 1.5 hours. The best thing is, when you are ready to make corn for dinner, you are shucking a few ears at a time instead of about 300 in a evening.
      God Bless you are your family also!!

      Hi. We take it out of the freezer and run warm water into the bag so it will thaw. I shuck it and then boil it for 5-10 minutes. You can also cook it on the grill.

      Hi. I blanched my corn for probably 25 years. I recently started freezing it unblanched with the husk on. Check out our channel for the video.

      @@patricia9574 Thanks! That is the G90 bi-color variety. I’ve been planting that for 25 years. It’s awesome. Grows at least 8ft tall and produces lots of corn.

      @@glendawoodward8750 I have always just cut off the ends and never had any issues and that’s all the way back to when I was really young. 99% of the time, they are only at the end of the ear of corn. Also it’s a good sign that someone didn’t put insecticide on the corn.

      Hi. Most of the time you have to cutoff an few earworms. I use diatomaceous earth when the corn is little for flea beetles and sometimes when it’s tall for other beetles.

      I see @useful.knowledge hasn't answered this question so I'll be so bold as to try for him. I suspect he did this to see if, in fact, the process worked to his satisfaction. The only way to determine that is to try it and actually eat a few ears at the end of the year.
