This works great! I just finished eating some that was frozen for 6 months, and I'm about to freeze another harvest. I do one additional step, and that is to wrap each individual ear in saran wrap before putting them into freezer bags. I'm not sure how effective it is though, since I've never froze without doing that. All I know is it's still delicious 6 months later.
I have done that and Open corner of zip lock suck with a straw to get all air out. It worked wonderful. I felt safe enough to feed to my visiting in-laws!!!!!
Thank you for answering my question before I asked lol. This is the way I was told how to do by one grandmother. The other grandma blanched hers for 6 minutes. Both were awesone. I didn't want to have to blanch them. It's to hot in the kitchen to have 4 pots boiling. Most of the food is going on the grill except the corn I'm not crazy about grilled corn on the cobb. Thanks again. Take care God bless . Deb
Well folks I tried freezing corn as you described, 27 fresh ears of ohhh so sweet corn. Cutting the ends off and bagging them, I closed the bag 2/3 of the way, put them in the sink full of water ( up to the zipper ) and you can feel the rest of the air getting pushed out, zipped it tight and placed in the freezer. Big dinner, golden brown turkey, mashed potatoes gravy, lightley browned marshmallow sweet potatoes, golden hot buttered rolls, and fresh sweet corn. Mmm mmmm that was good. After I took the corn from the freezer bag they were placed in water for 5 minutes to thaw enough to remove the husk. Boiled 20 minutes and Mmmmm mmmm they were good. Enjoy much easier then the process to vacuum seal them.
I changed my method since this post. I remove all of the husk except for the last layer and I thaw outside the fridge for about 10 minutes, remove the final layer of husk and boil. I originally left the entire husk on and thawed in the fridge. Since these changes the corn in no longer mushy and tastes good.b
I froze mine for the first time and they are noticeably very mushy, the texture is not the same from fresh or refrigerated for short a short storage. The mushy soggy texture ruined the corn in my opinion. Even the taste is mushy and soggy. Only three days frozen. I tried to thaw and boil frozen, either way mushy and gross.
@@jaredhill313wow. I have never had that problem, but my daughter in law was trying to freeze and cook her’s the way I cook them, because it’s her favorite, but her corn did not turn out right.
Sorry I haven't answered this... it didn't show up in my feed. It is wonderful. I've still got a few bundles left I need to eat up. Lol. Have a good week!!
Lacy, I gave up on canning this year. I don't have a garden and I can't go out to get stuff to can or freeze. It worked pretty good freezing it that way. It got a little hard to get all the silks off each ear.

Thank you so much for showing this to me... I have been shucking some of the ugliest corn I have ever bought from a farmers market for the past 3 days (Now I know why it was on sale). I bought two bushels of it (about 60 ears)... My son, God bless his heart, finally went to the grocery store and bought me some corn. So for the next few days, I am going to be prepping some of it the way you showed and some of it has to come off the cob, so I will be taking care of those also. Blessings to you and yours ~SuzyJC - Southeastern Ohio, USA_08/2021~
My step mom taught me to do it but we peeled it and you don't run it under any water and you just put it in the bag just like you did except you peel at all. But it all looks like the same concept
I don't know about the ones that needed to be shucked. I fixed those pretty fast but the ones I took off the cob are still doing good in my freezer after 2 years.
About 2 or 3 weeks ago, I actually blanched my ears of corn and then I put them in my FoodSaver to vacuum sealed them before I put the corn in the freezer. But this is a great tip to freeze them in their husks. Nice!
I cut off both ends if you notice so I was able to check and make sure there was no worms in the ends, which is where they are usually. I thought of that too. Lol. Have a good week!!
@@mrmckenny4772 from what I've seen on other videos, you can shuck them and freeze them without blanching. I think it simply depends on preference and the amount of corn your freezing. Since, I've a small amount, I prefer to shuck and clean first then freeze. If I was doing 150 like Debbie FoodPrepping, I think I'd go for the not shucking first method too... LOL
This vid was put out five years ago. I hope someone will be able to answer a few questions for me. I froze 52 ears of corn the way you suggested. I just tried to prepare a oouple of ears. Do you take the husks off while it is frozen or do you let it thaw first. I tried taking it off while it was still frozen and it did not go well. To remove it, I put them in warm water for a few minutes. It was still quite a chore to get the husks off. I cooked the corn in boiling water. The corn was a little "mushy" but it tasted okay. I am not a good cook (as you probably could detect) so I am hopeful someone will give me some advice. Thanks in advance.
When I pull them out a month or two later they are not the same way as if you want fresh corn on the cob. It turns out soggy. How can you make it taste the same as if you just pulled off the cob?
I didn't have that problem. I just got mine out of the freezer, cleaned it put it in the water and cooked it. Maybe cut it off the cob and try it that way. Have a great week!!
Lorena, I have a garden, but didn't plant corn this year, my farmer neighbor did. He just gave me 16 ears, we've already eaten 4 and I'll freeze the rest. Thought of trying this method, but it had been raining 'lots', so there is water in the cob, so I'll have to shuck them first I'm thinking, I watched another video where you can freeze them after shucking, no blanching. Maybe your corn had moisture in the cob (?)
I’ve always put mine up that way. I don’t even cut the ends off. I just break the shank off so it’ll fit in the bag.
Just put it in the freezer no cutting no bag it will be fine all winter
I'm going to try this...how do they taste? I would LOVE fresh tasting corn on the cob in the winter! Thanks!
I one year I simply filled up two pillow cases with corn (no shucking or cutting) and placed in deep freezer. The corn turned out great.
Would love a review on how you fix them after frozen..and taste test

You blanch it for 6 minutes, you cooked it.
If you place the bag in a bucket of water the pressure will push most of the air out before sealing.

Corn and tomatoes should not be frozen...they both will be mushy due to the water content.
