      There are two alternating drummers in Vulfpeck and both are technically very skilled having gone to The University of Michigan’s School of Music.
      I have a feeling Theo (the one who drums and sings on the song in this video) would be best fitted for metal, but then again, both are very much focused on funk and playing in the pocket/groove.
      It would be interesting tho, as metal drumming varies so much from all other forms of drumming despite the influence that goes both ways.

    I'm a massive Vulfpeck fan and been a drummer for 14 years, and that was a good take in my opinion! Yeah he may have played too loud for the low volume funk that Vulfpeck is, but it was very groovy, the ride cymbal part he did was amazing, very creative and he didn't overplay it, no massive fills or double bass here. Kudos to him! I also used to play a lot of metal, so i know how different it is to Funk.

      @MrSkme 4 місяці тому +25

      Absolutely not. His feel is way too laidback and big. There is no drive in his version. He never lets the music breathe and the other instruments shine, just constant hammering away. If you had told me he's a funk/soul drummer i'd say it sounds like a great metal drummer trying to play funk/soul. But i'll grant that the drum kit sound doesn't fit at all which definitely doesn't help.

    • @MusicByAngels
      @MusicByAngels 4 місяці тому +28

      It's clear that this isn't the type of music that he plays the most. His playing is big and rock oriented. But so what, that's the point of the video: to take him out of his main area of expertise and comfort. A great jazz drummer or soul drummer would not necessarily nail the metal drum sound perfectly either. It's not what they spend time on 👌

      @@spirothegamer He is brazillian... playing in the most important metal band from Brazil is, at least in my perspective, better than Megadeth. Just see Kiko, from Angra originally: Megadeth is bigger, richer and has more fans, but Kiko had more creative freedom, he was mixing different styles, composing crazy stuff... what World Class would mean for the musician? If it is all about a bigger band, he can play for Taylor Swift.

He even made fun of me (twice!) because I asked him if he used the ankle technique for his sick double bass skills. Needless to say he couldn't care less about what he uses, so long as it works :) Loved every minute of it, both on and off the drums.
