There are two alternating drummers in Vulfpeck and both are technically very skilled having gone to The University of Michigan’s School of Music.
I have a feeling Theo (the one who drums and sings on the song in this video) would be best fitted for metal, but then again, both are very much focused on funk and playing in the pocket/groove.
It would be interesting tho, as metal drumming varies so much from all other forms of drumming despite the influence that goes both ways.

I'm a massive Vulfpeck fan and been a drummer for 14 years, and that was a good take in my opinion! Yeah he may have played too loud for the low volume funk that Vulfpeck is, but it was very groovy, the ride cymbal part he did was amazing, very creative and he didn't overplay it, no massive fills or double bass here. Kudos to him! I also used to play a lot of metal, so i know how different it is to Funk.

100% man. He nailed the essential groove of the song. And a lot of that 'Vulfpeck sound' is just as much down to mic-ing and mixing as it is dynamics, so I think he did awesomely well.

His feel was so incredible. I felt as if Steve Gad was playing this track. He held back so much and didn't shred on it. He was very humble. He's a perfectionist, so he'll always be hard on himself. He totally got the correct feel of the song. He got the grove, something many of the drummers that have come through have not been able to do, even on simpler songs. He killed it! Bravo!

I had not heard of Eloy or Sepultura before this video, but I'm a huge Vulf fan. I enjoyed this immensely!
As a percussionist, I understand the feeling of tearing myself down when I've felt that didn't immediately nail a groove, as Eloy playfully mentions a few times here. But he was a very thoughtful interpreter, and was able to tune into subtle elements without any hints. Knowing to keep that 16th note feel on the HH throughout. Building gradually through the pre-chorus and the bridge. Adding half-measure fills right before the hits. Even deducing hits as hits. (It was also just cool to hear fills and ornamentations that move around the kit a little more than on a typical Vulf song.)
I really respect Eloy's musicianship & his ability to cater to the song regardless of his background! This is a great series to demonstrate these exercises, and to prove that polarities don't always have to interfere with the integrity between a piece and its player. Thanks for this video!

Just see Kiko, from Angra originally: Megadeth is bigger, richer and has more fans, but Kiko had more creative freedom, he was mixing different styles, composing crazy stuff... what World Class would mean for the musician? If it is all about a bigger band, he can play for Taylor Swift.
