GAME: Persona 3 Reload

As with the original Persona 3, the protagonist is a high school student returning to his home city a decade after his parents were killed in a fatal car crash. He soon gains the potential to summon a Persona-the physical manifestation of his inner spirit, and joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (S.E.E.S.), a group of like-minded Persona users. 6:01 Kaguya is the capstone persona for the Aeon link. So technically, it's Yu's persona.
But it's commonly associated with Marie, to the point that it's the persona she uses in P4AU.

Also in the movies, they do the exact same thing, but they also release poison gas in an attempt to kill them all. Which I gotta say, makes a lot more sense.
the point of locking them into an abandoned military bunker is to trap them there, whether or not they kill the shadow. Strega doesn't know that Ikutsuki stayed behind and could send help

I mean It's kind of obvious. He has the middle school anime baseball haircut (the one Leon hated in Dangan Ronpa), he holds his sword like a bat, dodges hits like a batter dodging balls. I legit thought when I first played P3 that Junpei was in the school's baseball club.
Koromaru's walks don't have anything to do with his hangout events. Those with him are watching a movie and brushing him.
The walks let you randomly encounter one of your social links and get points with them and you will occationally get an item. They're not really worth it to do.
The walks are worth it if you need the SL points. It's up to chance who shows up, but it helped me a lot with Yuko, Kenji and Chihiro in particular, and sometimes Kaz and Mamoru.
You can reload a walk to get different people?
There are also unique walk scenes after certain story events. He should keep his eyes out for those.

Koromaru walks are indicated by the doggy icon, his characteristic hangout events will be marked with the same smiley face as before.
If you're told that a dorm member can go with you, you'll get a unique scene and a half decent item
If you're not told that anyone can go with you, you'll get points with a random non SEES. daytime SL (school and out of school count for this). I'm not sure if its random or set for each day though.
As people have already said, it generally, sadly, isn't worth it most of the time*

Night time is so lax in this game that there's not rly a downside imo. It's the main way to get SL points during night for a very long while
I really like how the movies handled this part of the game. Strega's words actually hit a lot of these guys home, especially MC. The Dark Hour gives him a sense of purpose he's never felt before, even at the cost of people getting hurt, and it's a huge plotpoint for him.
At this point, Koromaru and Ken have already joined the team during this full moon boss fight, and Strega starts filling the room with poison gas. So while they fight the boss, they have to deal with the gas. In the end, instead of Ikuski breaking them out, the last party member (who I won't spoil) shows up to save everybody. It's such a fantastic scene and I wish Reload did it that way instead of this. Not to say this way is bad, but the movie does it so much more justice, especially with the way they handled Ken and his issues.
So, fun fact about Junpei: he's the youngest of the second years, being a 93 baby (born in January)
Fun fact, Jin is voiced by Chris Hackney (voice of Dimitri) though I'd honestly never be able to tell by ear in this case 😆.
Chris Hackney has a surprising range. Sometimes he does typical Dimitri voice and other times we get this and Ghiaccio in Jojo.

@@Pikaman20008 I don't think he'd had as many big/leading roles prior to Three Houses. Funnily enough I'd actually first heard him in Fire Emblem Echoes as Boey, but I only really became aware of him in Three Houses. Honestly a lot of the currently popular VA's I first heard (or at least became much more aware of) in Three Houses. Like Allgera Clark, the late Billy Kametz (rest in peace) and Laura Post. Laura's basically in every JRPG now from ATLUS 😆.

The scene where Strega locks us in is unintentionally really funny. Like "Oh no we're trapped. If only we had enough power to blow these doors open" said the group of teenagers who can summon demonic entities capable of summoning elements and also a robot with guns and cannons for hands

Aigis did say not to waste energy on that and focus on the full moon shadow. I can imagine some ways they could've destroyed those doors at their level, but it was easier to just call Ikutsuki. Not to mention, more discreet
I mean, with Personas, I think it's implied that as metaphysical entities, they're only effective against those on the same plane of existence (at least from P3 onwards), like Shadows.
Still doesn't explain why they don't have Aigis try to shoot the door open, though-

Kaguya in P4G is used to be Aeon Arcana & it belong to Marie’s Persona(the tsundere girl who in the Velvet Room with Igor & Margaret). Now Kaguya is move to Moon Arcana because her story being associate with the moon
Imagine if the Aeon Arcana was in this game. Who would it be? A new character or somebody known in the game.
Marie also uses Kaguya in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, she was a DLC character I think

The thing about Koromaru (and a later character that I’m sure you know already Nico) is that there was no such thing as “dark damage” or “light damage” back in the original. For those moves, it was simply “__ chance to kill enemies”. With that moveset, their moves cost a lot, and probably why they were given another move to balance out their costly moves that was basically based on luck.

@@mastermindmonokumaNot really. The ultimate versions of the spell was extremely useful at killing most high hp mobs with no weaknesses
Also, they hit weaknesses which was very important. So I wouldn't say they were useless
@@jadendobson9614 Sure, you are correct except that only applies to the protagonist who could get skills like Samsara or die for me plus the hama or mudo boost etc.
But for Ken and Koromaru its a very useless skill especially when you first get them when they only have Hama or Mudo.
Also in addition Hama/Mudoon have a 40% chance with the boost having a 50% of that 35% (so like 60% ish).
For the Ma Hama/Mudoon versions its 35% with it being around 52% with the respective boost.
(All these numbers are higher in reload)
Ken only learnt Hamaon with hama boost.
Koromaru had Mamudoon and Mudoon and the boost but thats still not much.
The high SP costs didnt help and while ken has healing and physical he's incredibly inferior to Yukari who can also work as a more functional offensive spell caster.
Koromaru isnt as bad but he is lacking in offensive power despite having attacks spells and attacks.
These issues make both incredibly not worth using when you first get them in fes and p3p.
IF you grind them up they may be useful in late game tartarus or monad............but by that point you have a billion better options.
@@mastermindmonokuma Ken not only had physical(which were really good) and healing/revival skills, but also learned electricity as well as a skill that increased his normal attack damage.
Aside from that, Ken's weapon made him much more versatile element wise than Yukari. With Gae Bolg he had access to wind+wind boost, and with Gungnir he had access to electric boost.
Also, him being able to use zio skills meant he had the ability to inflict shock, one of the most busted status ailments in FES.
All that being said, Ken and Koro aren't gonna actively use hama/mudo unless they know an enemy is weak to it (in which the chance for it to hit is doubled iirc). Which is it's primary use: hitting weaknesses.
I feel that them having hama/mudo doesn't make them bad as they have skill and traits that compensate, and make them useful outside of hitting the weaknesses of trash mobs. Unlike say, vanilla p4 Naoto

To complete quest 54, simply head to Naganaki Shrine, and pray three times once you get there. Do note that praying to the Shrine does not consume your afternoon slot, so you can still engage in other activities. You could only pray to the Shrine once a day, so you will have to pray for three in-game days to complete the request.

The most horrifying thing about Strega in Persona in general is to consider what they do:
They are a secret group of persona weilders who take out the seedy underbelly of the world via requests on their website. People submit these requests, and during the Dark Hour, they hunt down said person.
If that sounds familiar, this is exactly what the Phantom Thieves of Heart do as well:

Edit: that's my mistake, I thought they were the reasons for the ever increasing shadow issue. They are narratively similar but what Strega do during the dark hour is more akin to another P5 character.
Eh the comparison isn't exactly right. The Phantom Thieves don't produce a state of apathy - rather, they simply resign themselves to following the whims of society (trying to avoid spoilers). They still act like normal people, but they don't have any desires that push them to act out of society's rules like the Palace Rulers did. I think a more apt comparison would be the Mental Shutdown cases where, as you say, the culprits are actively killing the shadows of their victims. Apathy Syndrome is complete lack of conscious will, hence why those afflicted are non-responsive and are completely lacking will or emotion. But that's not a Change of Heart.
There is merit into the idea that if the Phantom Thieves didn't course-correct around mid-game, they might have easily become a Strega-like group where they define their self-worth based on their abilities with Personas.
I thought Strega just... took out the person directly. Didn't they force someone out of their coffin during the Dark Hour and shoot the guy?
Damn, I never made that connection until you pointed it out. As someone who generally hates the whole "stealing hearts" mechanic from Persona 5 and how generally not-contested it is, I feel very vindicated reading this.
Strega doesnt drag out people's shadows they dont have that kind of power, they kill, injure or hurt people at most.
The difference is the Phantom Thieves don't kill anyone. Except for that one guy, but his membership was revoked.

Takaya is voiced by Daman Mills, who voiced Auch in Unicorn Overlord, Weiss in FF7 Remake, and Kaworu in Evangelion.
Jin is voiced by Chris Hackney, who of course voiced Dimitri in Fire Emblem Three Houses, Rauru in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Juro Kurabe in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim!
With these two, we now have all Fire Emblem Three Houses Leaders’ VAs in this game! We got Dimitri with Jin, Claude with Kenji, and Edelgard with Elizabeth!

Nico Kaguya is the persona you got from completing Marie's Social Link.
and also Marie's persona in Arena ultimax, why she has that I don't know she's not exactly human so the rules probably dont apply (kinda like the velvet siblings). She does have similar lore to Kaguya.

@@hiccupasterisk Right but Marie is for all intents and purposes the local deity of inaba, so her persona abilities dont fit the same ruleset as those you mentioned, who are essentially normal persona users despite their inhuman status. Similar to the velvet siblings who can use multiple persona without a wild card and without fulfilling any conditions normal people would.

Morgana is essentially a lower tier velvet room attendent though not really a concept even if he was made of humanities hope.
Teddie is a shadow yes but how he uses his persona is the same as everyone else, nothing about him being a shadow affects his persona abilities.
Where as the Velvet siblings refer to themselves as Avatars of power are many times stronger than most end game bosses, can use multiple high tier persona despite not possessing the wild card or being human.
Marie can likewise control the weather and as stated is a deity of Inaba, but wasn't depicted using a persona till arena, her finishing skills are more due to her actual origin than a power of her persona, hence her ability to use a persona is abnormal.

Also dogs can eat watermelon, it's perfectly safe just be careful of the sugar content especially if the dog is diabetic
To answer your question in regards to outfits. They only change the appearing in battles, during exploration in Tartarus and for the full moon battles. However during events such as rescuing missing people, or when you reunite with a party member you sent to explore they change back to their default SEES Outfit.
Koro's trait hangouts will show up as a regular smiley face rather than the dog face. The dog face means walks with Koro which give you extra points with your school social links. Your teammates can also join the walks sometimes (if you have an SL with them, they get some points as well), walks with them lead to some sweet character moments and a random item; these tend to happen randomly but usually pop up after specific story events happen.
As today is a full-moon shadow encounter, let's continue to dive into how the designs of these shadows reflect the reverse interpretation of their respective arcana.
Chariot Shadow: The reversed chariot represents brute strength without a purpose and inflexibility. The shadow takes the form of a tank showing that while it is strong it is nothing more than a weapon for war rather than its own being. It needs the Justice shadow to pose any sort of threat. Moreover, its form as a tank gives it connotations of savage violent war as opposed to the just strength of the upright position, further enforced due to being found at a military base. It’s rigid movements also show inflexibility and lack of purposeful movement.
Justice Shadow: The reversed Justice represents corrupt laws, abuse of political authority, the use of reason for evil means and authoritarian leadership. The Justice shadow directly controls the Chariot shadow showing how it is the authority that commands the weapon to wage unjust war. It’s appearance in a WWII era military base give it connotations that connect it to Japan’s wartime atrocities. It is also the “reason” that dictates Chariot but again, directing it towards an evil purpose. The Justices small stature but large machine gun further shows how it uses violence as a “big stick” while lacking any actual power.

Every time I hear Strega, I always imagine it being said like the Sega intro

Taking Koromaru for a walk can have two outcomes:
1. You'll run into a random social link and gain points with them. Koromaru will also bring you a random, useful item.
2. One of your teammates will go with you, and you'll be able to have a conversation with them. Koromaru will also bring you a random, useful item.
The items Koromaru brings truly are random, it seems, by the way. It's not predetermined that you'll always get X item on Y date. You could theoretically reload and try for a different, better item.
Personally, I try to bring Koromaru on a walk whenever I can simply because he's the goodest boy.
Nico’s first thought about being locked in the bunker: Oh fuck! I need to use the bathroom! Why didn’t I do it before I left???
About as dangerous a situation as the movie's take on that scene...
Funny thing, Kaguya was the best light persona in P5 og and Royal where she is also DLC because of her unique skill and how multi hit skills works, where it will easily outdamage the highest tier of regular light magic
Walking Koromaru doesn't count towards getting a characteristic, you mainly walk him to get items like materials when you go with one of your party members or one of your social links may show up to get points with them.
Fun fact! Some actually did do a run where they did all of tartarus on the final night. Spurred on by a conversation between two party members (Specifically about how climbing up all of Tartarus would be impossible without the teleporter). It is technically impossible to do it in one night because Mitsuru forces you to go up at least a few floors before the first real full moon boss. Other then those it is possible to go all the way up on the highest difficulty!

At last P4 didn't have a narc in our team that forces us to study or apply us to summer classes.
The Chariot Arcana is a symbol of victory, conquest, self-assertion, self-confidence, control, war, and command. It represents determination against adversity and ignoring all struggle to achieve one's goal or to win. However, it can lead to stubbornness, as you've witnessed in Kazushi's Social Link. The Reverse of the Chariot Arcana, represented by the Shadow on left, can mean a lack of harmony and control and communication breakdowns. This is represented in this fight by its separating from its partner, Justice, when it's met with adversity.
The Justice Arcana symbolizes a strict allegory of justice, objectivity, rationality and analysis. In tarot readings, it means that one will have to face a trial of their justice. the Reverse of the Justice Arcana, represented by the Shadow on the right, instead represents corrupted reason, thinking with one's emotions, and an excess of desires which is detrimental to the self. Its small stature coupled with its big machine gun could represent either corrupt leadership or a lack of moderation of its desires. After separating itself from its partner, Chariot, it becomes rather easy to kill. It lacked the ability to analyze the situation and realize it would've been better to stick with its partner.

Kaguya, if I remember correctly was the Ultimate Persona for Marie’s Social Link and later just her Persona in general.
1:28:39 To be as spoiler-free as possible; that Dog-icon over Koromaru is not the same as the others’ face-icons. Koromaru will have that face-icon everybody else does, eventually. Walking Koromaru has a different function that isn’t too helpful, especially if you’re doing well with your Social Links.
1:28:30 Koromaru walks give you free social link points with a random person. Sometimes the game will tell you that a SEES member will join you and you'll get a pretty good item instead. Also in this game night time is pretty lax. You only have to worry about being optimal during daytime

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I remember enjoying that book as a child. Didn’t they also make a read along VHS tape or something of it at one point?
Walking Koromaru on certain nights is actually a feature from FeS and portable.
It doesn’t earn Koromaru any abilities, but you do get a random item from Koromaru each time you walk him. (He does have other activities that do earn his special ability)
Some nights one of your party members will be able to accompany you and you can get some fluff dialogue relating to the current point in the story.
Other nights you go by yourself, but you’ll run into one of your social links while you’re out (it’s predetermined who it will be though) and you’ll earn 3 notes worth of extra affinity towards their social link.
Overall, there’s not much of an incentive to do it over the other activities available while you’re still boosting social stats. But if you ever find yourself stuck in limbo with a social link and don’t want to spend a day time slot bridging the gap, it may be worth checking to see if you’ll run into them with Koromaru any time soon.

Koromaru was one of my go to party members in Reload, he meshes very well with your physical attacks because of revolution
Kaguya is P4G's ultimate Aeon Persona, which is Marie's arcana.
Despite being only avaliable on Sundays, Akinari's SL works the same as Tanaka's: He's guaranteed to rank up every time.
I do recommend having a Sun Persona on deck to help with points.

1:08:24 Minor spoilers for the game, but I like how this supports the theory that Koromaru already has an ultimate Persona since characters will typically get a second Theurgy upon Evolution.
So Kaguya actually doesn't belong to any specific character she is the unique persona you get from maxing out Marie's social link in Persona 4 golden. She actually in the original game belongs to the Aeon persona which is a fun trend that most of the remade or remastered games have when they add a new social link as obviously they will have a unique persona. Obviously due to that not being in persona 3 she is given the associated tarot card of the moon, due to kaguya's obvious association with the moon in the story she originates from.

Since the Dancing games are considered Dream Canon (minus P4 Dancing, that's actually canon) and there is a disco design for the Velvet Room for select dances, either Igor gave in to Elizabeth's requests or she did it behind his back, considering that he doesn't appear in any dancing game. Strega seems to be the antagonist/rival group of S.E.E.S. and have bad intentions, but a great opponent to the S.E.E.S. group.
I like Koromaru and he is also my favourite Persona mascot (that comes from a cat lover/person ^^), because he seems like a real pet and a loyal dog, while the others (Teddie, Morgana) are mostly likely comic relief and plot device.
I love the event scenes with your party members so much, because these makes them more sympathetic and you can understand them better than in the original game. ^_^
When you take Koromaru for a walk, you'll run into a random social link and get points for them, I think you also get a random consumable. Also taking him for a walk, does NOT contribute to his characteristic, his characteristics come from watching TV, and brushing his fur

So for Koromaru's "hangouts", walking is actually something that was at least in Portable. I forget if it was in FES. Basically you can walk with him & run into your Social Links & get some extra points & dialogue with them. His ACTUAL hangouts for the Characteristic are watching tv & an activity you could only do with Koro that is not walking.

Koromaru gets a massive buff in this game compared to the original just by virtue of their being damaging Dark skills now. In the original., since the only damaging Dark skills were instakills, Koromaru was far less useful against bosses, which shot his usability. But now that we have damaging Dark skills, he can fight far better and has a usable niche.

to help you with Kaguya Nico, she is the ultimate persona you get in P4 Golden for maxing out the Aeon Arcana with Marie. it is one of my favorite personas since it has one of the strongest piercing moves in the game. really happy to see reload adding more to the each of the full moon battles. really enjoying the lets play!!!

As a small note/ theory with kaguya, i think it was made into marie own persona since the anime of P4G since that anime was more of an adaption and extension of marie social link, with marie getting involved and roasting izanami alongside yu

So Koromaru was MEGA buffed in this game compared to FES. In FES he was one of if not THE worst party member due to his incredibly limited kit of Dark insta-kills, fire, ailments, and NO support moves outside of fire break. This made him virtually useless against bosses and only alright against random encounters. In P3P they gave him sukukaja as a support move which made him... a little better. In P3R however, in addition to dark skills gaining actual damaging moves, the buffs from P3P, revolution, and his 2nd Theurgy, he becomes one of the BEST physical team supports.
Now, in regards to Junpei being a baseball player in P4Arena, The signs he at least used to play baseball were always there in the originals, just way more muted and relied very heavily on context clues. The way he holds and swings his sword is how you would hold and swing a bat in baseball. In P3R the signs are way more in your face and obvious due to all the hangouts and stuff.

I actually managed to go my entire first playthrough of Reload without a single fusion accident. Almost did it again on my second run but then I got to the max rank of Strength and the game decided I didn’t deserve Atavaka for a whole week. Almost missed Telos.
I guess they aren’t aware of how the team are planning on ending the dark hour through defeating the big shadows on a full moon, but it’s pretty funny how they inadvertently helped us by locking us in with two of them 😂
