Great video, lots of information! Ive been eyeing this bag at REI Garage :) You mentioned taking this thru the airport - were you able to use it as a carry-on, or did you need to check it? Also, the compression straps near the water bottle pockets, can they be run under (inside) the pocket so you can cinch bag, without cinching in your water bottle? Thanks! Kari
Hey Kari. Guess I’m pretty lousy recognizing that I got comments on my videos! I’m so sorry! In case you or anyone else wants to know, yes I’ve taken this through TSA several times now no problem and it not only fits in the overheads but it fits under the seat as well. The water bottle cinch straps are specifically for the water bottle. But they actually have other straps specifically for cinching the bag itself! So they are two separate entities! Hope that helps!
Hey! Sorry I didn’t see your comment earlier. We normally split our gear between my husband and I and he usually takes our tent gear and I put clothes, jetboil, food, sunscreen, etc in my bag. However, on a solo trip I did strap our hammock tent called a Stratos (from a company called Sierra Madre) to the outside no problem. I have to pair down a ton only having 38L but it’s manageable if you are willing to give up some extra comforts!
@@AroundOurWorldin80 Thanks for getting back to me, it was really important for me to know if it was doable. I will be going solo and i dont plan on taking any extra comforts accept for a thicker pad and enough basic supplies for 2 days. So hopefully it will fit a single tent.
