@Mikecamrc I dont know what rock you live under but ailerons are used to turn the plane, and as your turning have a little rudder input just to help complete the turn and make it tidy
I see no pilot error on his maneuver. All the way around, he did save his plane. That could've have been worst. He save the pane with minor ready to repair damage. My respect to this pilot. You did great dude. Whoever says that you did wrong doesn't know nothing about this. Have a great day. By the way, excellent video and flying skills.
That's why I prefer the robart spring airs. Not as scale looking when you drop gear, but at least you have em. If you get an air leak they automatically drop. Great job.
8:41 - that crash landing you're wanting to see. Isn't a crash. It's a landing without the gear down. Snaps a plastic prop. Not worth watching the entire video, unless your just wanting to watch a bit of aerial display :)
Sadly, this is all too common. Drag it off the ground, fly around a bit and suck it on landing. Buy a flight simm and learn to take of and land properly. After that, practice what you learned on the simm, at the field on a small plane. Then get onto the bigger stuff.
Hi This Mustang is a PICA I built it many years ago it was part of my Warbird collection for years. It was sold to a nice fellow from Georgia if I recall 3 to 4 years ago. The engine was a ZDZ60 and it had Century Jet Retracts even a scale tail retract in sequence. I recognize all my work from your video. Did you fix her? Ian
This is one of the best sounding RC Mustangs I ever heard! What engine is he using? Corsairs with Moki radials sound best but Mustangs can't use radials, and most P-51s sound like angry weed whackers. This one sounds pretty sweet though!
Seems like he was coming in fine, and at the last minute took his focus off to flip his throttle cut. When he did he pulled up on the elevator and some aileron and made a rough landing. Nice plane though
Why is everyone talking about pilot error? He had a landing gear failure, as in it didn't the retracts wouldn't drop. The gear doors were open but they never dropped. You hear him say "I'm gonna lose those doors" meaning, when he lands.
All in all I would say that was a good save, I mean Yeah I could have been perfect with no damage but minimal damage is the next best scenario and far better than a write off be panicking and going balls to the wall on a landing, he did really well to get it down like he did, planes like the mustang ain't beginner planes and take a lot of experience and skill to fly so anyone who says they could have done better is either a professional flyer with serious experience or is lying frankly, but the Internet people can always do better because they landed their polystyrene air hogs from argos with no landing gear and in high winds while fending off a pack of wolves and a 6ft dwarf so no sense in arguing with them, they are the best at everything... Lol, Seriously though, credit where it's due, he handled it well!
bad landing yes, but it was stop the mega tail tip stall that was about to flip plane upside down nose first.... out of the 2 he picked the right option. cant all be pros
The landing could be better! Nevertheless with a new model is quite difficult to know its aerodinamic reactions! Thats why everybody should fly every now and then, a glider! I wonter why nobody with a rectract problem doesn make a few high speed dives with a sudden up elevator! Maybe the G force could solve the problem!
Plane was coming in hot, but the speed bled off in a hurry, leaving an ominous tip stall as far as I can tell. Overall nothing much could be done, better that than the tip stall wasting the whole model. Try it before you criticize, its very hard to make the decision to dump it knowing full well you will cause damage, and far easier to try and 'save' it by pulling up causing a pile of mess.
i watch the vid and i think you did pretty dam good i kno those mustang aren"t easy to fly at all so keep doing your thang and dont let kno one tell you you did a bad job that was great
Boy that's a cool airplane. Those P 51's must've really brought a lot of hope and pride to the American soldiers that were over in Europe. It looks so awesome flying through the air banking and descending...sounded good too. glad it didn't get damaged too badly.
Need to learn how to land it. Full flaps, slow it down and let it settle while controlling your altitude with the throttle. When you're sure you are going to make the field, shut down the engine, keep it above stall speed and gentley settle it on to the runway.
seems like he gave up on her on final and flopped it in when he could have put down his flaps and skid in nice and soft causing less damage from the sound of the impact I promise that was more then a gear door
Agree with dcd , if your ready to fly this type of plane you should know how to keep your cool in situation's lie this and landing should be second nature. Should of gone way out and come in with good airspeed to a slippery belly glide. 30 minutes tinkering with tools and spares and he could of flown again that day. I see it all the time, flyers jumping from trainers to scale fighters.
Freakin retracts.... they all seem to fail at one point. Been there many of times. Beautiful bird though. Hope not to much damage was done on the impact.
My guess is the gear got stuck... so he couldn't put them down. Why would you put your flaps down if you're going to belly land? Maybe you want him to rip them out too?
Wouldn't exactly call that a big crash. Quite a good one actually. Broken prop of which he prob carries spares with him and maybe need to replace gear doors. Prob flying again later that day.
Learn to use the rudder. Zero rudder correction at takeoff ( 2:15) and in fact you get on the ailerons to turn the plane which is the last thing you should do. Ailerons bleed off airspeed and at that point it is the last thing you want. For no gear landing stay a little higher and shut down the engine first, hello opti kill, and a little less diving for the end of the runway will give you a nice soft landing
Now i remember why i don't post videos to youtube. The morons who comment after not seeing what actually happened. It's clear he couldn't get the gear down, and tried to get it as slow as possible to lessen the impact. So what if it stalled 6" off the ground.
Not one low pass caught in center of camera. When filming, you must understand that YOU don't get to watch the plane. Your job is to center it in frame. Now you've given the pilot a shit video.
@TheBatman996 So, you're an expert at flying huh? Or no wait...you're an expert on flying one of these high spirited 'Stang's'!! Just so you know, this plane is not for the "BEGGINER" flyer. And far more advanced than most people think. Having three of them, from a small sixty size, a Hangar 9 150 and my biggest, A Don Smith 1/4 scale, I speak from experience. Personally, I feel he did a really good job bringing it home without the need for a body bag. Let's see your expert flying...K?
#1. camera man to stop watching clouds,#2. why no use of the flaps for landings and takeoffs? they just for looks.#3 gear down is a must on landings. Such a beautiful aircraft in the hands of idiots...
Nice plane. Since the demise if the big ol vid cams, vides such as these have become of poor quality, cameras no longer set on ones shoulder and no more steady-cam feature, oh well....
My first video camera was a "full size" one that rested on your shoulder. It took great, stable video. Also, the eye-piece was easy to use to capture RC planes in the sky. Its a pity, newer stuff takes us backward!
I'm sorry but that landing sucked ass. There's no need to get the plane down so quick that you break it up doing so. I belly land my P51-D quite a bit and never have landed like this.
don't you just hate people who start talking with "I'm Sorry but! .. I had an ex wife who did that constantly, and drove me right out of the house.. I'm sorry but the dinners cold, I'm sorry but the lawn needs mowing, I'm sorry but you're tie is on crooked, I'm sorry but the car is low on gas, I'm sorry but I'm having a bad hair day and on and on ad nauseum!!!
temp, what do you have to do with the video that gives you the right to call people names? the landing sucked ass plain and simple. way to slow for the plane to land right.
Wouldn't exactly call that a big crash. Quite a good one actually. Broken prop of which he prob carries spares with him and maybe need to replace gear doors. Prob flying again later that day.

Hi, can i ask you what kit is this mustang from? thanks.
Nice 51, also nice flying. Looks like LG not working. Oh well, Awsome!
Yep, start with the prop arc facing the pits!
8:41 - that crash landing you're wanting to see. Isn't a crash. It's a landing without the gear down. Snaps a plastic prop. Not worth watching the entire video, unless your just wanting to watch a bit of aerial display :)
i also like to know what model it is... where did you buy it?

Beautiful looking P-51. Shame about the belly landing, but it wasn't all that bad.
Center of the screen camera guy geeesh 8-P
This is a nice video, but there's a nice sounding p51 at(fast rc p51 mustang that sounding like a hotrod)
Is this a "World Models" P51? What brand?
Hi
This Mustang is a PICA I built it many years ago it was part of my Warbird collection for years.
It was sold to a nice fellow from Georgia if I recall 3 to 4 years ago.

MUY LINDO EL P51
LES MANDO UN GRAN SALUDO
DESDE ARGENTINA .
beautiful plane. sorry bout the landing. and why didnt the gear come out on landing
Shi thap pens, but what did you determine the cause?
pica 1/5 scale? nice job building and flying...........i built one of those too.... mine now hangs in a musium
looks it landed w flaps retracted... so stall speed was still little bit too high isnt it?
lesson learned, never cut power on final. It's a warbird, not a cessna.
All in all I would say that was a good save, I mean Yeah I could have been perfect with no damage but minimal damage is the next best scenario and far better than a write off be panicking and going balls to the wall on a landing, he did really well to get it down like he did, planes like the mustang ain't beginner planes and take a lot of experience and skill to fly so anyone who says they could have done better is either a professional flyer with serious experience or is lying frankly, but the Internet people can always do better because they landed their polystyrene air hogs from argos with no landing gear and in high winds while fending off a pack of wolves and a 6ft dwarf so no sense in arguing with them, they are the best at everything... retract didnt work. but she'll fly again. not a severe damaged
what kit is stang?
bad landing yes, but it was stop the mega tail tip stall that was about to flip plane upside down nose first.... out of the 2 he picked the right option. cant all be pros

The grass could be just a tad thicker (sarcasm). Looks like think shag carpeting. Makes for difficult take off and landings. It can flip a plane
Plane was coming in hot, but the speed bled off in a hurry, leaving an ominous tip stall as far as I can tell. Was a good landing .. Gear mess up some times... Plane lives.... Thumbs UP
That was a terrible landing lmao
+Ryo Wantanaby it was actually really good for a stuck landing gear. When my gear got stuck i totally destroyed the plane :/
Nah dude he could have set it down way the hell easier
anything can be done better, but im sure with a new prop, new gear, and some buffing it'll be back in the sky.
Boy that's a cool airplane. Those P 51's must've really brought a lot of hope and pride to the American soldiers that were over in Europe. It looks so awesome flying through the air banking and descending...sounded good too. glad it didn't get damaged too badly.

8:37 for fail landing
That must be his crappy back up radio.
I meant to say, "minor easy to repair damage" my phone auto corrector only put errors on whatever I'm writing of I don't put attention. Lol...

top flite has a kit or ARF
He's a pro pilot. The problem is that he pitch down to much. By the time he pitched up it was to late.
did you come in too slow?
Now i remember why i don't post videos to youtube. The morons who comment after not seeing what actually happened. It's clear he couldn't get the gear down, and tried to get it as slow as possible to lessen the impact. So what if it stalled 6" off the ground.
you can disable comments

were can i buy one and how much i really wont one
Thought he was polishing the hub?
Why no dead stick it in instead of tearing up the prop?
dead stick? no engine plus no gear means prop hits ground anyway..
Good thing the gear stayed up. That landing might have torn them up otherwise. Nice plane, and she will fly again
I see you don't try the gear before flight !!! alwaise try before
This was uploaded on my birthday 4 years ago
easy fix new prob and a clean up.
@TheBatman996 So, you're an expert at flying huh? Or no wait...you're an expert on flying one of these high spirited 'Stang's'!! Just so you know, this plane is not for the "BEGGINER" flyer. is that P51 made by hangar9
the more trolls I see on youtube, the more I want to buy a baseball bat. Guys like this Joe Schmo need to be blocked
well it was a nice plane such the luck dont look too bad
More plane than this guy can handle
I waited 5 mins just for that
That right throw the radio down get it dirty and let someone step on it .
how did that happen?
stall... need a lil more input on the throttle
anyone else notice how much runway was left he could have had a non crash landing
Oh my god!
Vertical performance sux on that thing I guess too heavy.
vertical performance? when an object leaves the ground and stays in the air, it has vertical performance, however, gravity can override that issue!
America's fastest plane on world war 2
huge crash? i think not.... cool plane though.
He can taxi good!
Unlucky with the landing, not to much damage I hope.
#1. camera man to stop watching clouds,#2. why no use of the flaps for landings and takeoffs? they just for looks.#3 gear down is a must on landings. Such a beautiful aircraft in the hands of idiots...
What have you done?......are you really into rc flying.....?
dude! what happened?
Why people have to be toxic. We all have gear problems if you can walk away with a whole plane then great!
Exactly! And all in the name of convenience LOL
Christopher Knee
Can you say "flare"?
Yep...terrified monkey in the cockpit would be hilarious!
the crash is a controled bumb and 1 broken prop.
That field is carpeted
Hmmm?
Didnt cycle the gear
it was stuck DA! pay attention!
How bout taping the plane not the sky
Cool plane though
Glad I went to all electric.
but gas is so cool
undeniable
Ten Millimeter I'm still buying electric because I don't have time for the maintenance lol but I'd rather watch gas.
good
Ouch :(
What a terrible landing, very quick way to break your aircraft... learn to FLARE gently.
that sucks
very noob error!!!
let's play next time with tiny !!!
I'm sorry but the dinners cold, I'm sorry but the lawn needs mowing, I'm sorry but you're tie is on crooked, I'm sorry but the car is low on gas, I'm sorry but I'm having a bad hair day and on and on ad nauseum!!!
well it could have been alot worse
Weed whacker p-51
try to fly some basic 40 trainer it is better to learn with, than this p 51
its too big ad look like heavy
temp, what do you have to do with the video that gives you the right to call people names? the landing sucked ass plain and simple. way to slow for the plane to land right.
nice plane but Ive had worse crashes
puffffffffffffff
UGLY version of the mustang
This is not anywhere near huge.
Talking of trolls what are you doing on here?
Worst landing ever LOL
Wouldn't exactly call that a big crash. Quite a good one actually. Broken prop of which he prob carries spares with him and maybe need to replace gear doors. Prob flying again later that day.
