It was this guy's 450 RC helicopter youtube videos that got me hooked up many years ago . He made it look easy and seemed to have lots of fun while at it that I felt I had just got to experience it for myself. I'd like to go back to those videos and watch them again but sadly, I seem to have trouble looking them up in youtube now.
Dave and Keith thank you so much for the review on this model:) me and my friend were going to get one at nitro but weren't sure since there was no reviews online.. cheers...
@FLYfastflyRC Yes, I've been wanting to get that one, but its always out of stock. The large delta wings like that are always nice and stable with gentle stalls.
Yeah thats Scott Lott. He works for us full time for the last year and half. He's a little dopey too but we are very glad we have him. He's very smart and does most of the work behind the scencse.
@nick2008bhs No it uses ailerons and elevator. Rudders would be very nice but it would be a really tricky set up cause the tails are so thin and far apart back there. Maybe a small servo on each rudder would be the way to do it.
Yeah it just dove at the ground, I was not ready for it. I would like to bring it in faster but just don't have the room at this small field. I'd like a bigger field but don't get me started on that...
You just made my night. I have been feeling super bad lately. But your fun video has brought a smile that has me looking super forward to what happens next. That was wild when it hit the grand the last time. I take it the two rear landing gear went out did it brake the back of the plane at all? Or was it just the two landing gear that flew off. I hope you are having a great start to your weekend. You have the best RC Channel ever. God bless you all their and your families.THAT WAS AWESOME!
I think you need to back the battery up a little more instead putting it in the front it wants to dive down on the landing. But wow what control and what power!
Ha, thanks! Yeah, I like more and more twin motor planes. Not just EDFs but props too. So much more power and we get them to counter rotate for props there is no torque roll that makes a big difference.
The foam was very strong on this one whatever it was. Its just that tail is so thin there is just not alot there. It could be made out of wood and still break.
This definitely looks like Guan'Li A-10. The EPO foam this thing is made of is VERY dense so, when it goes down with moderate force, it will disintegrate upon impact...trust me, I've crashed too many of them not to know. These A-10's are a "floater" coming in for landing, which makes it difficult even for intermediate pilots. I only managed a "landing" once without any real damage. Most were destroyed in crashes due to faulty Airtronics RDS8000 Tx but, without rudder it's hell to land.
It also seems to need a lot of speed to maintain lift, and it looks like as it comes in slowly it is nose down to maintain airspeed, but once he pitched the nose up, it goes into a sort of stall roll. This one is tough to land even though it is easy to describe what needs to be done. Come in nose first keeping the airspeed up buts slowing as much as possible. Hold the wings level, and flare the nose the last second getting the back wheels on the ground first then the front not stalling it.
I'm a pilot and whether I'm flying a full scale airplane or an RC model all the same aerodynamic principles apply. It does not take much to severely effect performance on either full scale or models. In either case you still want a machine that flies right.
Oh no, sure didn't. Was able to glue the plane all back together but the wire for the landing gear snapped so I would have to buy new wires for the gear. Which is why I never do landing gear on any of the planes I build. Very cool to have, but just so hard to keep on a foam airplane.
I gave my JR9303 to Scott. I never could figure out how to work it and don't have the time for it. Most of the offbrands work great for half the price we have found. If you want to pay twice as much for something that 5% better thats fine with me.
So true, it really does. Flys so smooth when the powers on but yes, the still fans must act like parachutes cause it slows way down with the power is off. And I don't think its so much the wingloading, it does infact feel like just drag.
I have that exact same plane and it sounds like you have the same problem I do. The fans are out of balance, that's why it hums so loud. Check your intale walls, you'll see where the fan is scraping the side. It does fly very nice, very stable... you do have to get the landings just right though ;)
Yes I know about keeping the speed up for landing. Thing is, is what I'm doing there is 10% flying an airplane and 90% trying to make a fun video that gets views on UA-cam. We were forced to fly in this small field cause there is no other place to fly AND film. We cant go to a RC field cause the background noise is just too much. So I'm trying to bring the plane in a very small area, into the wind, AND in place where the camera can see it.
@RCSuperPowers Hello I just got this plane and assembled it.. missing whells and plywood taht would lock the steering nose wheel .. missing out of the box :P I will maiden it tomorrow and I'm thinking about using a 4 cell battery instead of my 3cell 2200mah.. will the fans and motos handle the 4 cell?? I know the ESCs will because I done a test and the amp draw with the 3cell is 22amps and with the 4cell 32.. less than the 18+18 escs that the plane has..
Yeah we had alot of crashes in a row. I don't mind crashing the PDF planes cause we can make new ones so fast but I did not want to crash this on. It was later repaired with hot glue and made for a funny video so it wasn't a waste. Yeah, the new brushless A-10s are so fast. Its about time too. This plane has been on the market for a long time as brushed but of course would never fly until now.
LMAO!! I can't get over the dual EDF sound!!! Ooooooeeeeeeeeeooooooo!! So, the reputation you speak of is to fly (not necessarily well) with damaged control surfaces. Not removed surfaces! This is gonna' be good! "soda pop" - CA. You got that right!
@RCSuperPowers hey.. I got this plane and I thought that it was a hard plane to fly but it's actually very easy.. maybe it's just my skills getting better. Have you put your own brushless motors in that or are those the stock 3900kv inrunners?
If you pause at 4:44, you will see why it crushed.Dave forgot to bend the landing gear back into position after the hard landing. So when the plane drop down fast and with the bent landing gears, the tail hit the ground first and broke.
A-10 Thunderbolt II, in honor of the first thunderbolt, the P-47, which is famous for is roubust fuselage that could take extreme punishment and still keep going. The A-10 is AKA the Warthog.
Hey dave! Theres actually another guy who made a vid of HIS A-10 on here, If I could find the link I'd post it but I can't lol, He modefied the wood inside to make space for a bigger battery and actually made a small intake scoop on the nose of the plane rather than in the top like you did, he also made a second scoop in between the 2 engines in the back to cool the gear in the rear and then made a small exit port in the bottom tail (he also happened to crash his as well, the planes just to fast
LOL - Keiths look into the camera at the end just says it all. LOL. You stalled on the approach Dave, too steep an angle coming in. Best place to get them in the UK is from foamyjets - speak to Grant
Hey thanks! Yes, I'm trying to land it in such a small limited space and get it where the camera can see it. I can land it out in the grass safely but then no one would watch the videos cause you can't see nothin.
I know! I had the exact same complaint for years! Why put a plane on the market that they KNOW does not work? I know the answer to that, but yes, glad there is a brushless version finally.
Use some carbon fiber rod on the back so the coffee cup wont break. It looks great but its crazy that every foam piece of junk, you have to alter it to make it work right.
So Dave...is your new business model to spend all week putting together a cool airplane, then go out on Friday and crash it? Works for me! You must have put some pretty high RPM motors in that Guanli A-10. I have the GWS A-10 (the one in your video is a knockoff copy of the GWS) with 3900 kv inrunners, and it's not that fast (or screaming high-pitched like that), but it still is fun and looks awesome in the air.
Hey, is this the last Video your girl is participating? I remember the first Videos with here, when you flew small airplanes in some area near a house just on the road. Where is she now?
It was this guy's 450 RC helicopter youtube videos that got me hooked up many years ago . He made it look easy and seemed to have lots of fun while at it that I felt I had just got to experience it for myself. I'd like to go back to those videos and watch them again but sadly, I seem to have trouble looking them up in youtube now.
The A10 is not a plane, it's a gun that flies.
thought it was a flying tank ..But that works too
Very true
Glad the intuitives are still watching!!! Thanks dude!
Dave and Keith thank you so much for the review on this model:) me and my friend were going to get one at nitro but weren't sure since there was no reviews online.. cheers...

"oooopsss. I see parts". Priceless.
Thanks for posting.
Hey thanks! I've been working alot (and am still) on outside business stuff. Not really UA-cam stuff so I won't bore you with the details.
@fatbass12 This A-10 was later hot glued all back together. Only thing that broke beyond repair was the landing gear. .
Ha, thanks! Some pretty good crashes lately. There is a depron F-15 video that will be up in a while that has some pretty good crashes in it too.
I had the same wheel issue with mine. Great video Dave.
I think you need to back the battery up a little more instead putting it in the front it wants to dive down on the landing. But wow what control and what power!
It does work pretty good. Not super strong cause its so scale but for a good pilot with lots of space it does work well. Very fast.
Ha, thanks! Yeah, I like more and more twin motor planes. Not just EDFs but props too. So much more power and we get them to counter rotate for props there is no torque roll that makes a big difference.

It flys great, very stable. Just needs alot of space and speed to land the silly thing.
Oh very nice set up! I'll keep an eye out for it.
Cool plane . I like how stable it is in flight .
It also seems to need a lot of speed to maintain lift, and it looks like as it comes in slowly it is nose down to maintain airspeed, but once he pitched the nose up, it goes into a sort of stall roll.

@737Pilot122 No it uses ailerons and elevator.
Oh my goodness, Dave, amazing... "No, that's 'foam-safe ca, also known as soda pop."
So out-there, yet so true...
I'm a pilot and whether I'm flying a full scale airplane or an RC model all the same aerodynamic principles apply. It does not take much to severely effect performance on either full scale or models. In either case you still want a machine that flies right.
lol. looks like they had fun.
i been looking on ebay and found one made with epo foam. do you think it would hold up better?
what did Scott think when you trashed the plane
your one liners crack me up, Ill get right on that!
I really like it too. Very unique and specified. NOTHING like it, thats for sure.
the A-10 is by far my most favorite military airctaft
Oh no, sure didn't. Was able to glue the plane all back together but the wire for the landing gear snapped so I would have to buy new wires for the gear. Which is why I never do landing gear on any of the planes I build. Very cool to have, but just so hard to keep on a foam airplane.

Looks like a great little model - your videos are priceless!! :-)
Near the Pomona, La Verne, Ontario area?
Yes I know about keeping the speed up for landing. Thing is, is what I'm doing there is 10% flying an airplane and 90% trying to make a fun video that gets views on UA-cam.

I love the scale planes from nitro planes. You should definitely consider doing the big predator that they have.
Hey Dave. You're not having much luck with the whole flying thing lately are ya!!! Keep it up your making me feel a little bit better every week.
@RCSuperPowers Hello I just got this plane and assembled it.. missing whells and plywood taht would lock the steering nose wheel ..
missing out of the box :P
I will maiden it tomorrow and I'm thinking about using a 4 cell battery instead of my 3cell 2200mah..

It seems like a stable fast airplane.
Where did you purchase it ?
Whay caused the hard landing at the end ? was it too sensetive elevator ?
Is there some way to add some sort of suspension on the landing gear so we don't pull a Dave landing?
Way to get us Dave! lol, nice piece of work it is! Good to see you back, ....... somewhat ;0)
Hey dave love the videos. do you think you could get the TW cessna 4ch plane and fly it around on a video.
The only thing that I think AirHogs has made (in August of 2013) is the X4 Stunt Quadcopter. It flies so well for being by AirHogs and is $65.
This plane has been on the market for a long time as brushed but of course would never fly until now.
a bit of a hot landing there, Dave ^__^
I love watching the back wheels separate in slow motion.
There were parts, like @ 1:33, where I couldn't tell if the sound was the engine, or one of you guys off screen going "WOOOOOOOOO!"
i think from now on just make some crazy support system so the landing gear strut doesnt break off
Love the sound it makes.
@RCSuperPowers hey.. I got this plane and I thought that it was a hard plane to fly but it's actually very easy.. maybe it's just my skills getting better. Have you put your own brushless motors in that or are those the stock 3900kv inrunners?
been flying fixed and collective pitch helicopters for a good while now. how is the transition to flying something like this?
thanks!
Dont know why you got two thumbs down, but you are 100% correct. Sadly, I guess most people here could careless about aviation history.
you think Dave has all these RTF planes and helis?
If you pause at 4:44, you will see why it crushed.Dave forgot to bend the landing gear back into position after the hard landing. So when the plane drop down fast and with the bent landing gears, the tail hit the ground first and broke.
@helgesmutter I've been using the junk chargers. I've been trying to find a good charger myself.
A-10 Thunderbolt II, in honor of the first thunderbolt, the P-47, which is famous for is roubust fuselage that could take extreme punishment and still keep going. The A-10 is AKA the Warthog.
Oh you got me, you are so right. I will get right on that.
Yeah for reals. In the end, we were able to hot glue the A-10 all back together, so it lives to crash another day.
Dave love the videos. Keep it up.
is this all stock?
Overall its going good. Scott Lott (kid in the videos) is working on it for us.
Yes, very true. The problem is 50ft back we run out of space.
Hey dave! Theres actually another guy who made a vid of HIS A-10 on here, If I could find the link I'd post it but I can't lol, He modefied the wood inside to make space for a bigger battery and actually made a small intake scoop on the nose of the plane rather than in the top like you did, he also made a second scoop in between the 2 engines in the back to cool the gear in the rear and then made a small exit port in the bottom tail (he also happened to crash his as well, the planes just to fast
what equipment do U guys use to charge your batteries? do U just use whatever comes with the plane or do U suggest a certain professional charger?
Nice one Dave! Way to put her in! :-)
LOL - Keiths look into the camera at the end just says it all. LOL. You stalled on the approach Dave, too steep an angle coming in. Best place to get them in the UK is from foamyjets - speak to Grant
Question: I noticed you said that there were no rudders and two speed controls. Does this plane use differential motor speeds as the rudder function?
Hey thanks! Yes, I'm trying to land it in such a small limited space and get it where the camera can see it. I can land it out in the grass safely but then no one would watch the videos cause you can't see nothin.
hey dave you need to do what I did with mine with 1 microjet combo
is about 4 times faster than the brushless one and 20 than the brossh one
the plane looks great, the crash footage is cool too :)
he's in a destructive mood lately.
Greets, iT
I know! I had the exact same complaint for years! Why put a plane on the market that they KNOW does not work? I know the answer to that, but yes, glad there is a brushless version finally.
question:does it do nice rolls?
Thank you Professor Wavicle.
@shurlock1 yeah... something like that.
LOL! What was that sound at 4:51?
It sounded like someone burped or farted.
Ha, yeah its Southern California. Always warm, actually very hot that day.
Use some carbon fiber rod on the back so the coffee cup wont break. It looks great but its crazy that every foam piece of junk, you have to alter it to make it work right.
were you able to fix the landing gear ?
That was cool guys. Great flight.

awesome where is that from nitro or exeed?
wait how do ya speel exeed ?see i did it wrong again
hey dave do you know a site with 5 dollar servos or less with propellers less for 2 dollars?
is the piper pub good for me i never flew a plane befor
Hey, is this the last Video your girl is participating? I remember the first Videos with here, when you flew small airplanes in some area near a house just on the road. Where is she now?
I love watching your show and how you but planes and do reviews on them what I don't like is how you always crash
the landing gear just popped off!!!! :P
how did it turn without rudder or airleons?
I like how you added 2.4 ghz
A-10!! awesome :D what a MAD sound.
4:49 wait, wait, w-w-what happened?
Priceless :D
Thank you fomaden!
Great video! This is a great channel.
Thank you!
Yes we do. We ham it up as dopes to make an entertaining video but we are very safe when we do our "antics".
