    Roasted Chickpeas
I will show you how to make this so that it turns out crunchy. The secret is roasting the beans first before spicing them up. Share this recipe with anyone who might enjoy a vegan snack or just a delicious snack that's healthy.
    Ingredients:
    1 can garbanzo beans, canned
    Olive oil
    1 Tbsp. Pasture raised butter
    Cinnamon & Sugar Spice
    1 ½ Tbsp sugar
    1 ½ tsp cinnamon
    ½ tsp. Ancho chile powder
    Directions:
Combine the sugar, cinnamon, and Ancho chile powder to a bowl and stir to combine.
    Mexican Style Spice
    1 ½ tsp ground cumin
    1 tsp. Chipotle chile powder
    ½ tsp. Smoked paprika
    ½ tsp. Garlic powder
    ½ tsp. Onion powder
    Pinch of salt
    Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine.
    Directions For Roasted Chickpeas
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Drain and rinse the garbanzo beans. Pour them out on a baking sheet and pat dry. Place in the oven and roast for about 40 to 50 minutes. Check the beans every 10 minutes to stir to prevent sticking.
You can also place parchment paper on the pan to help with keeping the beans from sticking and make clean up easier.
Watch the beans closely during the last 10 minutes as they can burn quickly. You will notice the beans split and dry out as they cook. You want to make sure the beans are crispy so taste one when you think they are done to be sure. It should be crunchy.
Take them out of the oven and set aside. Heat a small fry pan over medium heat and add about 2 Tbsp. of olive oil and 1 Tbsp of butter to the pan. Once hot, add the beans to coat and then sprinkle on the spices.
Stir to coat the chickpeas and add more oil and butter if it seems too dry. You need enough moisture to dissolve the spices.
Once the beans are coated you are ready to serve the chickpeas. These make a tasty snack and are customizable. You can use any spices you like. Enjoy!
    Thanks for watching and sharing!

Another great recipe Robin! I boiled my own chickpeas (bought a 4 lb. bag) because one can isn't going to handle my family! I used olive oil and zaatar with a sprinkling of sumac for a Middle Eastern taste. They ARE GREAT!!! So inexpensive if you boil your own chick peas! Thank you for this terrific, savory and delicious recipe!

Just had to tell you how l made mine on first try. I finely zested a whole orange, added white sugar plus brown sugar & a pinch of salt !! I couldn’t stop eating them. I’ve try roasted chickpeas before but they never turned out worth a flip. I had given up but after watching your method l knew l had a winner!!! Wow, sooo delicious & crunchy. I made 2 cans worth last night & l already ate the whole thing & it hasn’t even been a full 24 hours. Thank you so much for a perfect recipe. I also used the butter. I had my husband go to the store for 4 more cans !!! Just found your channel & l’m a happy subscriber. All of your recipes sound like winners !

Thanks, great Chef! There is only raw, dry, not canned chickpeas in Russia. Can i try with it? Or i must get canned? Thanks.

    • @RockinRobinCooks
      @RockinRobinCooks  2 роки тому +1

You can roast raw chickpeas but first you must soak them in water for 24 hours. Then make sure they are dry by patting them with paper towels. Then coat them with olive oil and salt and roast in a 400 degree F. oven for 25 to 30 min. Hope that helps.

Ha! I caught ya! one flip of the pan of beans, then you started to stir them! We all know you're a pro, so why not do a video on how to flip the pan of food? There's nothing like risking a disaster to bring a thrill to the amateur cook! (me). Thanks! TC.

Hi Ron, I accidentally deleted your other comment about the distracting music. I appreciate the feedback. I have been toying with the idea of getting an air fryer. The only thing holding me back is storing it as they tend to be large.

I thought maybe you might want to put some sugar into the Mexican flavor so you have a sweetened essence 😎

  • @charitynfernandez545
    @charitynfernandez545 Рік тому

Just because something is spicy doesn't mean it is Mexican. In fact those are tex mex spices. Great recipe, don't get me wrong. But please don't refer to such recipe as being Mexican. Maybe say it is spicy, period. As someone with Mexican heritage, i am offended by someone calling a food Mexican just because it has spices(because chickpeas with cumin and paprika are not near to be called mexican). It's like if I assumed a buffet is American just because it has pizza, mac n cheese, and burgers. Please take this as constructive feedback.
