  • We take a closer look at my friend's modded and tuned 2006 GMC 2500 LBZ Duramax. However, he has an interesting take on modding, with his focus being on the longevity of his truck, rather than looks or outright performance.

Enjoyed your video - I owned a 2005 LLY w/EFILive - wrote my own tunes. I had to add the TXChristopher secondary radiator w/electric cooling fan (mounted below the main stack) in order to tow 40’ high profile 5th wheel. Truck ran great and towed very well. Turbo vanes started to stick at 100K miles - had to have it removed and unstuck ... otherwise a nice truck - mine was a 3500 Silverado - exact same color as yours. Brings back good memories. I replaced the tie-rods with much beefier ones. Also replaced factory wheels, added MBRT exhaust, pump rub fix. Never had any transmission issues even running +40hp/+100ftlb tune for better towing. Got 16-18mpg unloaded and 8-11mpg towing our 5th wheel. Did multiple intermediate steering shaft replacements/repairs. Nice reliable truck. My paint looked like new when I sold it two years ago - was garage kept for the past 8 years. No rust on body, just a bit on the undercarriage.

Thanks man! The thing is an absolute torque monster. He did the tie rods and now it launches like hell in 4x4

What do tie rods have to do with taking off?

Wimpy tie rods will flex and bend when launching it in 4.

Okay we're all wondering, it's a New England truck and it's a gmt 800 so show us the rockers let's talk about those

I just picked up an 05 LLY with factory rockers still solid in northern Maine... old guy used it as a summer tow rig

It looks like that old truck is going to cost you a lot of money in the end.

YUR RITE, PARTNER. Let's throw a lift on this thing and then roll it over into a ditch. That's clearly the best way to gain views
