    I absolutely love my Mini Adamas in Magnacut. A little worried about dropping it with carbon fiber scales, but it's an absolute tank otherwise. Love the blade thickness and feel in hand.
    I definitely did not choose Magnacut because I can't boast about the name. I bought it because it is currently the single best PM steel on the market if you want a balance between toughness and edge retention, without sacrificing nearly the best corrosion resistance you can get. You can own this knife forever, and it will most likely never rust and not need sharpening often. Many people care about steel choice for good reasons, not because they can boast. I think suggesting that is disingenuous. Your choice to not care about knife steel doesnt mean that those who do care about it are somehow less valid.

      Oh no of course not. I hope I didn’t make it sound like other opinions were invalid. Not my point at all.
      I just personally don’t think blade steel is as important as most people. And I think that most people don’t really know the difference either (regardless of what they might tell me) lol.

    The detent eases up with regular use causing a smooth open like the classic Adamas btw. It’s all engineered by design. They are usually stiff at first

    I've never mentioned the steel if I showed someone my carry knife. It does matter if choosing for specific tasks and environments, but I just buy knives for fun. That RJ is nice. I like the polished steel. Looks great.

      @@TheSmileyTek that’s a great point. Do we talk about steel with average people…nope 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Choice of steel very much matters depending on what your knife is for. Other popular steels like m390, 20cv, s90v, and maxamet have better edge retention cutting safer materials but suffer micro-chipping when I'm cutting dusty flooring at work. Magnacut and, my favorite, cruwear stand up to harder work because they are tougher. Both are great for this slab of a knife.

    I still don’t think I’m going to get this. I’ll probably wait for the carbon fibermagnacut full size version. I just have big hands and I like the way the full size version fits in my hand and with updated smoother handles and less of a boxy shape. I see it being the perfect knife then. A real out doors beater/ sturdy tool.

    I don't think Magnacut is a flex but rather for many who show hard use to their knifes and don't want to have to field sharpen as much it's a very practical metal to have on a blade. In a addition to Benchmade making their Water Collection for hard use on the ocean due to the proven high rust resistance. If you're landlocked you may not understand that.

    I know they refer to this version as the Mini-Adamas because of its big brother, the full size Adamas, but for my taste the mini is perfect for actual every day carry. The standard Adamas has a blade nearing the 3.8 inch mark and an overall length nearing the 9 inch mark, and for me that's just to much!! So the 3.2 inch blade of the mini-adamas coupled with an overall length closer to the 7.5 inch mark is far more useful and practical for me.

    Dirk, just bought the mini adamas auto today. As I was walking out of the store I thought, shit, I forgot to ask Dirk if this was a good knife! Happy with it so far, definitely better than the CRKT Squid Auto I had been carrying.

      MSRP is rarely what these knives sell for. I ended up getting mine for under $300. Still overpriced, but you have to keep in mind they are American made, a lifetime warranty and lifetime sharpening. Also everything has gone up. Even Spiderco's are way more than they were.

    We need a titanium thicker axis bar coil springs and ti scales!!!!!!

    • @HelplessTeno
      @HelplessTeno 6 місяців тому

      The Axis Bar has never been an issue on the Adamas line except for the initial release of the Mini, which was shortly fixed and had nothing to do with materials, but the length of the catch. The springs rarely fail and titanium springs wouldn't alleviate that issue anyways. If you want ti scales, buy aftermarket. I don't want every knife selling for $600+
