Very interesting at the end about the clear Egyptian connection to Exodus. Obviously, the author(s) of Exodus were intimately familiar with Egyptian religious and cultural features. I could be wrong, but this makes it hard to argue that the OT is a later invention rather than a product of a people exiting Egypt.
(Exodus 8:25,26) 25 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God in the land.” 26 And Moses said, “It is not right to do so, for we would be sacrificing the abomination of the Egyptians to the Lord our God. If we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, then will they not stone us?
Thanks for this unexpectedly fun video! I had no idea Egyptian pagans were also big on cows just like Hinduists! Question: if Hathor iconography was indistinguishable from that of Isis, do egyptologists tell them apart by inscriptions alone?
The Hesat cult was part of the milieu of bovine religion as a whole. So Aaron would not have had to been part of any particular cow cult to know about it.
Now it makes sense that the phrase “holy cow” is used in modern times , it’s crazy how many old and modern religions use cows as deities , such as in Hindu religion. Great work I really enjoy you channel David !
This again raises the questionnof whether there is a link between ANE gods and hinduism. Are the hindu sacred cows linked to Egyptian bovine worship, or is it just a coincidence?
Thank you Dr. Falk for bringing us the scholarship while also not shying away from your faith. Scholars like yourself allow for the world to see that you can be a serious scholar and a Christian without giving corny Christian apologetics.
So I’d always thought that the Golden Calf was the idol of El, the king of the Canaanite pantheon, and Yahweh was not happy to be associated with him. Is that a later development?
What about that unusual ritual thing called, i think, "tauroboliuem"? ❤🩸 Do all these bull cults engage in bloody rituals? Id love to learn more about the tauroboliuem. Thank you for this awesome episode!
The tauroboliuem is a later Roman festival. Most Egyptian bull cults did not practice the bull sacrifice in a public way. If the bull was sacrificed, it was only partially eaten and then only by the priests of the cult.
That really adds even more weight to the blasphemy committed by Aaron and the Israelites.
You really gave us something to ruminate on.
This video was mooooving
This video was udderly informative.
I love the "moo" after listing every bovine god/goddess name. 😂
Well, cow produces cow. If these gods are related, it’s not surprising that they’re all cows.
This video was a-MOO-sing

Mixed multitude ... so some definitely Egyptian
Upon looking for a difference between oxen and cows I found that oxen are not a specific breed of cows but are trained strong bull cows of any breed.
The ultimate Cow God? YOUR MOMMMM!!!!!!!
I'll see myself out now.
Here my American ass just gets the immense urge to want a cheeseburger by just seeing the word cow
I prefer a steak.
@charliedontsurf334 Hey man, as long as it moos, can move into my stomach
Yeah, with the cheese and meat. Maybe lettuce too, but definitely nothing else on it.
@@DarkBladeShdw Wrong! A1 is the best thing on cow! ;p
That identifying of the incarnate bull sounds a lot like how the Dalai Lama is chosen... 🤔
Awesome as always
Very interesting context in the golden calf of the mount sinai!

This idea of the golden calf being the same god reborn explains why Aaron is still able to talk about “a feast to Yahweh” in Exodus 32:5.

Question: if Hathor iconography was indistinguishable from that of Isis, do egyptologists tell them apart by inscriptions alone?
Egyptologists depend more upon inscriptions than by iconography alone. Although we do get lazy about this sometimes. 😂
14:04 Was the myth of the Golden Calf understood by everyone in Egypt, or would Aaron have had to have been in the Hesat cult to know about it?

I wondered the same thing. Perhaps both share a common root, or perhaps one informed the other. Hmm 🤔
Do you know of any notable overall similarities between Egyptian bull cults and Indo-European mythic bulls like Auðhumbla and Gavaevodata?
Probably connected in the Neolithic ... cowboys got around.
The video could be described as moo-mentious.

You're welcome. 🙂
Amen!
Pregnant Egyptians still sneak into the Temple of Hathor at Dendera ... some say.
It wouldn't surprise me.
Dr Falk is really milking his egyptology degree.
I'll see my self out.
Keep coming back😂🎉❤
Dr falk what is your interpretation of the six days of creation? Also what evidence supports that interpretation?
Holy cow(s)
That was so enlightening
What are your feelings on Crecganford?
So I’d always thought that the Golden Calf was the idol of El, the king of the Canaanite pantheon, and Yahweh was not happy to be associated with him. Is that a later development?
The Canaanites were greatly influenced by the Egyptians. Some say they were derived from them.
