I dove into the hobby with DJI G2 and O3 on my outside quads a few months ago. I just can't justify the HDZero goggles for a whoop so my first time trying indoor whooping has been via analog. I was surprised how much I like analog, mostly the speed to plug in and go being a lot faster than digital. I'll have to check out the Air65 one of these days.
Why is the spoiler in the front on the HDZero build? The comparison not being like for like is weird to me, on the champs you have a build with a lightweight camera, but the hdzero one you use a strong low light one instead? Makes way more sense to compare a C03 build with a eco build than a lux one. As someone who got 4th place on the last racegow track with my HDZero build I can say my favorite feature of it is the board durability. I've broken 4 of the beta 5 in 1's and to get them to last without getting bent on crashes you kind of have to build like a maniac (putting the board under the standoffs and against the battery so it doesn't bend from being too thin). Where I'm still on my original HDZaio despite crashing it way harder. Though still not sure the champs edition fixes the biggest issue with the latest batch of betafpv whoops, where they randomly decide to split their streams and start transmitting on another channel in addition to what it's set to. It's like flying with a primed grenade ready to DQ you from a race without warning.
If weight isn't a top concern, the Caddx Baby Ratel V2 camera gives a very good analog picture, and has excellent low-light performance. I really like mine.
If they’re that popular, pretty sure they’ll capitalize on it and just make another batch. Maybe a different limited red/green color way called “Christmas Edition”
You actually haven't been able to buy the 30k motors for 6 months or more. I'll be honest, they're not very good motors. They're very noisy and hard to tune, and that's been verified by a few other whoop guys like quad66 @im_ricebowl
Why is nobody talking about the meteor Air65 or Air75 converted to a meteor65 pro frame with 35mm Props? Gemfan had new 35mms-3 props and its amazing on my air75 converted to 35mm props.
I really like hdzero system, but this air65 haves a really good quality video, and its suprised me about how good it flies, i think its close to perfection in tinywhoop class.
Sort of. I've been running my builds with 29,000 KV motors, and there's definitely a line at which too high of a KV will make your batteries fight for their lives. 27000 seems to be the cutoff between flight performance and efficiency. It is annoying though when I'm plugged in on the line, and I have to wait 30 seconds for other Pilots to get ready, because my battery will dip down to 4. 1 0 v in that time. Still, the end experience is just worth it for me. 😊 I can get 3 minutes of cruising, or 2:20 at a race with 27000kv, whereas I get 2 min cruising or 90 seconds on 29000kv.
Hey Chris, is the tune for the happymodel 28kkv motors or the betafpv champions 30kkv motors. The tag on the pid tune says 30kkv. Or could you add the pid tune to betaflight presets.
There is even a bonus !!! The VTX version is too old for the LUX cam so you cant even use all the fancy feature they rave about like 16:9 or night vision
@@jas-FPVif you're in the hdzero system, your goggles came with the update cable, but regardless, you should pick up the vtx programmer. It'll make your life so much easier. 🙂
Their only "advantage" is heavier bearing motors. The additional weight is offset by the lighter screws. The 5 in 1 isn't any lighter, plus you end up with more board under the camera that it can smash into and flex during a crash, think bad gyros on the old cross style 1s f4 4 in 1 from betafpv. I have the air65, HDZero aio 65 and new hummingbird race spec, the race spec delivers almost 4 minutes of semi hot flying vs 2.5 minutes on the HDZero and 3.5 on regular air65.
The issue with the betafpv series is their integrated vtx does not play nice with others in a race environment, which is why they're banned at some events afaik
I used to think the same thing (I own hdzero goggles and a few hdzero whoops for reference). I think the new lux cam/AIO combo’s image quality and weight finally makes hdzero in 65mm whoops make sense.
@@krish3033 really, nicee. I had the vrx! I never really tried after. Well my own hdzero quad. But I’ve flown my friends. Not with the new cam you’re talking about tho! Gotta try it
@@TaseenAliThe Experience through the goggles is much better than the vrx. Deluxe cam is pretty nice, but it's not quite as nice as I thought it would be. At least in my house it really has trouble with dynamic range and color accuracy. And I don't know who started saying it was a night cam, but it's not even as good at night as the Eco is. The system is amazing though, especially if you fly fast!! 😉💨💨🔥🔥
Yeah my 65mm WS is 22.5g and the video quality is miles above what even the lux camera does. For my freestyle its still light enough and i prefer the better quality video.
@@willpowerfpv3246 Try turning the normal and low light down and the high light and gain up in the ae settings. It still struggles a bit going from a dark room towards light, but it’s way better than the eco cam in light and dark for me.
Lol. No. You have to see it through the goggles. The difference is massive. I had a similar attitude until someone put the goggles on my face at a race, and I bought the goggles 2 weeks later and now exclusively race HD 0. It may not be enough of an upgrade for it to justify the price for YOU, but they're not even in the same league, from an objective standpoint.

Make sure to not route the vtx antenna over top of the AIO5 or you'll get significantly more breakup
Interesting

Yea. Lux camera was a strange choice unless seeing better in low light situations was more important than weight.
Agree, I've never felt this kind of durability. As with the aio5

I built a 1.6inch quad with the HDZ AIO and the tuning has been difficult, but I love the idea of tuning something similar and transferring it over
Why is everyone reviewing the championship edition when they're already sold out?
BetaFPV would be stupid to not make another run of them or release a similar alternative.
If they’re that popular, pretty sure they’ll capitalize on it and just make another batch. Maybe a different limited red/green color way called “Christmas Edition”
though not directly a bnf, you can actually just get the 0702 dual ball bearing motors and the 5in1 since that's the main difference

That amp draw on the HDzero was almost double, was that reflected in the flight times?
