These are beautiful, thank you so much for sharing. I have lots of different kinds of paper but no glossy and so many gelli print with alcohol ink videos focus on glossy it's good to see I don't need it, I can use what I have!
Just found you, and love your work! Interesting new ideas, so I can’t wait to try them. Your English is very good, and you explain everything nicely. Thank you !
Im always happy to see dudes creating too, I love it. I was bit scared for your nice shirt - especially the sleeves - but you didnt get a drop on in! For more traditional marbling with alcohol inks, just use hand sanitizer; a good (thick-ish) layer on the plate, then inks and you can manipulate them exactly like when marbling the traditional way (just dont use sharp tools with gel plate!). I liked all your prints, but the ricepaper ghostprint one was magical. Dankje well (sorry, Im just assuming youre from NL by your accent..) and greetings from Finland. -Jane
For those asking here,, DYE BASED inks are water soluble in a shellac base such as Windsor Newton calligraphy or drawing inks. I suppose they create a barrier on the gel plate before you add the alcohol inks over top. I don't know which brand he is using though.....I really liked the 'ghost print' he made with the Japanese paper.
I would have liked to see marbling, too. Also wish you'd answered the previous questions about DYE ink. Are Distress reinkers OK? I don't want to ruin my gel plate.
Jackie sorry I'm so late with my reaction. You can use Distress reinkers to of course. Don't worry about your Gelliplate, it can have much I have noticed.
Hi Joan, you can use acrylic ink but without the blending solution. Blending solution is only usefull in combination with alcohol ink. But acrylic ink and even acrylic paint you can combine with mediums like from Liquitex.
Thank you Wayne! Great tutorial! A couple of questions: It seems that perhaps the dye ink pad re-inkers might work for the dye ink portion of the process?? What do you think about that? Also does the Japanese paper that you use have the soft almost fuzzy texture on the back of it and if yes how do you color that? I have some Japanese paper like that to use up but I would like to have both sides of the paper colored. Thank you so much for your help! I just found you!
You can use re inkers with dye ink. All dye ink will work I suppose. The Japanese paper I always use has one smooth surface. I don't know if you can use both sides with thin Japanese paper. Heavier paper will work.
I presume the dye inks you are referring to are the re-inkers for distress, distress oxide and the archival ink pads. I also wondered if it would work with FW inks? I will play with all these and see what happens. Perhaps when you are making your videos you could show the bottles or pads to the camera, then everyone knows what you are using. Thanks for this video, great ideas.
Didee, there are several dye ink brands. One of them is Distress Ink from Ranger. Ranger has also a brand called Distress Oxide. Its a mix of dy ink and pigment ink.
Wayne. If you don't answer the questions people ask, they won't stick around. We need to interact and share hints and tips. It's no good showing people a wonderful new technique and leave them confused about how to do it.
Wayne Dieleman I appreciate u taking the time to make this video to teach us awesome ways to use alcohol ink on our gel presses... Even if u don't have any more time to answer any questions. Thank u so much. I'm definitely gonna try using alcohol inks on my gel press now that I've seen this video.
Nice video. But didnt see any Marbeling! This was only using alcohol ink and blending solution on a gelli plate. Only watched the video because I wanted to see actual Marbeling.
What a great technique, with stunning results. I must try this! Thank you.
Great video, Wayne. I have all of the products but would not have combined them. Many thanks.

Beautiful prints. Thanks for sharing your techniques.

It is so much fun to play with!!!

Thank you Sheryl. I will make more in the near future. Did not know I had so much views. Lol

Dana I will. I promise.
I love this! Thanks for teaching us!
Thank you for watching.
Thank you for this video. I just bought a Gelli plate, and wondered about using alcohol ink. Very helpful video :D

Karmakat59 You can also use re-inkers designed for use with water based ink pads.

Really enjoyed this tutorial. I intend to try this. Can I use acrylic ink and blending solution as the base coat?
Hi Joan, you can use acrylic ink but without the blending solution. Blending solution is only usefull in combination with alcohol ink. But acrylic ink and even acrylic paint you can combine with mediums like from Liquitex.
Hey Wayne, Great tutorial. I will definitely try this. Jane
Thanks Jane!
great idea,,,looks very cool...will have to this!!!
Great video! ❤ Thank you.😊
Wonderful and so simple!
Life is simple, most of the times Karin. Lol
Very nice.
Thank you!!

Thanks dear.
APRON 🤔☺️ lovely shirt.
Thanks for the information. Something I will have to try.
Your welcome Ruth!
Prachtig en leerzaam filmpje Wayne
Dankjewel, ik schrok me rot. Mijn zoon liet zien dat ik al zoveel kijkers, volgers en vragen had.
Great tips..

Yes Jane, they are the Distress re-inkers. You can always try FW.
Wayne Dieleman Thanks Wayne, Ill give the FW a try. They sit languishing in my craft room without being used.
Jane Cameron Archival inks are permanent inks and they will destroy your gelli plate.
@@caseyslovewhat inks do you recommend?brand & type- new to this! Thanks! Aloha!🤙🌸
If done on cotton fabric must it be heat-set to be permanent or will it wash out if not set? Thank you
Not quite marbling technique but very pretty colors and patterns, certainly worth trying!
I know Robin, nothing beats the oldfashioned Marbling.
Well done thank you
probably a naive question, but what is 'dye' ink please?
Hi Susy, dye ink is a watery ink. You also have pigment ink, that is like paint
Dye ink is water based & often what is used in stamp pads, as is pigment ink.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
Can you use India ink? What lovely art you have shared.
I would say, just try it!))
Thanks for getting back to me. I'll give it a go.
Haha what country does this come from, "ocean baby paper" love it
I think he said "lotion-based baby paper." :)
I am from the Netherlands.
I know you are using alcohol inks by Ranger but what is the brand of dye ink please?
Didee, there are several dye ink brands. One of them is Distress Ink from Ranger. Ranger has also a brand called Distress Oxide. Its a mix of dy ink and pigment ink.
You can use any black dye ink. Dye ink is water soluble. You can use an ink refill that’s meant for re- inking your water based ink pads.
great ideas, thanks for the video :)
Your welcome Michelle.
nice work .. thanks for sharing ...
Thank you Sandy.
Very nice... what kind of blending solution? Thank you!
Ranger Blending Solution. Its on the same shelf as the Adirondack Alcohol ink in the stores.
Beautiful!!
Thanks Lizzy.
Fabulous!
Thank you Andrea!!
Wayne. If you don't answer the questions people ask, they won't stick around. We need to interact and share hints and tips. It's no good showing people a wonderful new technique and leave them confused about how to do it.
Hi Karen, I am so sorry. I did not know until my son told me.
Yes. And you need to identify your materials. I was going to ask what are the inks? What is the solution?
@@minnahumble2294 I think he said ‘Adirondack’ inks at the beginning
What is the brand of dye inks that your use please? Thanks!
Didee M He is using Adirondack Alcohol inks from Ranger Industries.
It is the brand name of the dye inks that he mentions (not the alcohol inks) that I would like to know.
Didee M Me too.
Dye ink I use is Distress ink from Ranger.
Distress Ink from Ranger.
Are you using rice paper for your ghost or some other Japanese paper? Thanks.
I don't, but you can use rice paper just fine Lynn. But be gentle when lifting the paper from the Gelli-plate. It will taer fast
Please could you tell me where you buy the dye ink and blending solution?
The good sorted Hobbystore should have it. Most of the Rubber stamps stores sell it. Or look online Karen. They are products from Ranger Ink
Thank you
Great !!!
Thank you!!!
but what about marbeling???
Hi Diane, you can marble with the Gelliplate. You can use a comb for it. But marbling the traditional way is the best dear.
Can one use Acrylic inks instead of alcohol inks?
Yes you can there are other videos on UA-cam which will show you these
Yes you can use Acrylic inks and even Acrylic paint. I work a lot with Fresco Finish paint of PaperArtsy.
Can I use acrylic ink for the base?
Yes Judy, you can also use acrylic ink for it.
Wayne Dieleman thanks Wayne. I’m new to the gelli plate
We all appreciate your replies and videos
but the instructions with my gel plate say use NO dye ink????
I use a lot dye ink on the Gelli Plate. So far so good Diane.
Nice video. But didnt see any Marbeling! This was only using alcohol ink and blending solution on a gelli plate. Only watched the video because I wanted to see actual Marbeling.
Sarah, I am planning to make more movies in the future. Wasnt able to do much recently.
Can I use ceramic tiles?
Not quit, the Gelli Plate is soft and gives better results with ink and paint. When you go with a brayer over the tiles, you roll the ink forwards.
Wayne Dieleman can I simply put the tile face down to lift the ink?
Why not just do this on yupo paper?
Just try it Mark.
Wow. Didn't know you could put alcohol inks on a gelli plate
Dear Penny, dont be to kind for your gelli plate. It can have much.
Is it origami paper or rice paper?
No Donna, just plane paper. Rice paper wont do the trick because it is sucking al the ink at once.
😮😮😮😮😮
Beautiful! Too bad it doesn’t look marbled at all.
Where's the marbling?
Its the effect you get.
