Pearl-Ex time

This video shows what you can do with the mica powders from Pearl-Ex. I use tags which I have painted with black gesso from Liquitex. After drying I stamp them with the Versamark ink. The ink is sticky and holds the Pearl-Ex mica powder. Clean with a dry towel and fix with hairspray.

This video shows how to marble with the Gelliplate and Adirondack Alcohol inks. You don't need Highgloss paper for this technique!!!
Art Specially schort! :) Mooi!
If done on cotton fabric must it be heat-set to be permanent or will it wash out if not set? Thank you
Great video! ❤ Thank you.😊
APRON 🤔☺️ lovely shirt.
Thank you very much.
Hello Wayne- I just found your videos. Great technique- so lovely! I really enjoy your calm teaching and instructions. Thank you so much. Sending you greetings and sunshine from New Mexico.
What is the difference between alcohol inks and dye inks please fantastic tutorial thank you
Thank you Wayne! Great tutorial! A couple of questions: It seems that perhaps the dye ink pad re-inkers might work for the dye ink portion of the process?? What do you think about that? Also does the Japanese paper that you use have the soft almost fuzzy texture on the back of it and if yes how do you color that? I have some Japanese paper like that to use up but I would like to have both sides of the paper colored. Thank you so much for your help! I just found you!
You can use re inkers with dye ink. All dye ink will work I suppose. The Japanese paper I always use has one smooth surface. I don't know if you can use both sides with thin Japanese paper. Heavier paper will work.
Well done thank you
Great tips..
Can you use India ink? What lovely art you have shared.
I would say, just try it!))
Thanks for getting back to me. I'll give it a go.
What a great technique, with stunning results. I must try this! Thank you.
Exactly what I' ve been looking for! Thanks! Beautiful!
same here
Thank you for sharing your wonderful technique 💜
Beautiful! Too bad it doesn’t look marbled at all.
This is a great video & a beautiful use for those mica powders. I have a set for the past 15 yrs I’ve never really used, but this gave me many ideas!
Great to hear!
Great technique! Thanks so much for sharing ♥️
You are welcome
Thank you for this very informative video, Wayne! You created some beautiful prints!
Just found your videos and have been enjoying them very much. Hope all is well with you.
Thanks Sherry!
😮😮😮😮😮
Do you have the recipe for making the wheat paste? Thanks
I use 1 part wheat paste and 5 parts water. Strir and boiling for 10 minutes.
I presume the dye inks you are referring to are the re-inkers for distress, distress oxide and the archival ink pads. I also wondered if it would work with FW inks? I will play with all these and see what happens. Perhaps when you are making your videos you could show the bottles or pads to the camera, then everyone knows what you are using. Thanks for this video, great ideas.
Yes Jane, they are the Distress re-inkers. You can always try FW.
Wayne Dieleman Thanks Wayne, Ill give the FW a try. They sit languishing in my craft room without being used.
Jane Cameron Archival inks are permanent inks and they will destroy your gelli plate.
@@caseyslovewhat inks do you recommend?brand & type- new to this! Thanks! Aloha!🤙🌸
Brilliant! I had never thought to use ribbon. And yet another fun combo of inks to try.
Where's the marbling?
Its the effect you get.
SO COOL!!!
I never thought of using the gel plates for stamping color on a substrate. Thanks! Very nice video pair.
I am so impressed with this technique for marbled paper. I like it very much and want to do it myself. I’d like to know how to mix the fiber paste and gouache. Do you just stir it up until you get a preferred color?
Thanks Ruth. I usually start with a bit starch paste and add a bit water until its the thickness of yogurt. Than add the paint and stir it like you mentioned.
Thanks so much for the demonstration Wayne. I’m definitely going to try this 💕
Thanks Nina.
Im always happy to see dudes creating too, I love it. I was bit scared for your nice shirt - especially the sleeves - but you didnt get a drop on in! For more traditional marbling with alcohol inks, just use hand sanitizer; a good (thick-ish) layer on the plate, then inks and you can manipulate them exactly like when marbling the traditional way (just dont use sharp tools with gel plate!). I liked all your prints, but the ricepaper ghostprint one was magical. Dankje well (sorry, Im just assuming youre from NL by your accent..) and greetings from Finland. -Jane
Yes, I am from Holland. Thanks Jane!
It’s beautiful Wayne !
Thanks Annelies.
Thanks for the video Wayne. Could you list the products you use in your videos?
I use black gesso, Versamark ink, rubber stamps and Pearl-Ex.
Are you using rice paper for your ghost or some other Japanese paper? Thanks.
I don't, but you can use rice paper just fine Lynn. But be gentle when lifting the paper from the Gelli-plate. It will taer fast
Great video, Wayne. I have all of the products but would not have combined them. Many thanks.
Hi dear. Thanks for sharing. Please continue making videos 👍
Viki, I will!
Thank you
Love your video, Wayne. A suggestion would be to add a list of the exact products used. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
nice job
very nice
Beautiful
Just found you, and love your work! Interesting new ideas, so I can’t wait to try them. Your English is very good, and you explain everything nicely. Thank you !
Your welcome Candace.
Can I use ceramic tiles?
Not quit, the Gelli Plate is soft and gives better results with ink and paint. When you go with a brayer over the tiles, you roll the ink forwards.
Wayne Dieleman can I simply put the tile face down to lift the ink?
Can I use acrylic ink for the base?
Yes Judy, you can also use acrylic ink for it.
Wayne Dieleman thanks Wayne. I’m new to the gelli plate
We all appreciate your replies and videos
Good!
Thank you Kat my friend.
Really like this technique. Thanks for sharing.
Your welcome Joan.
Thank you guys.
Very nice.
Thank you!!
Wayne. If you don't answer the questions people ask, they won't stick around. We need to interact and share hints and tips. It's no good showing people a wonderful new technique and leave them confused about how to do it.
Hi Karen, I am so sorry. I did not know until my son told me.
Wayne Dieleman I appreciate u taking the time to make this video to teach us awesome ways to use alcohol ink on our gel presses... Even if u don't have any more time to answer any questions. Thank u so much. I'm definitely gonna try using alcohol inks on my gel press now that I've seen this video.
Yes. And you need to identify your materials. I was going to ask what are the inks? What is the solution?
@@minnahumble2294 I think he said ‘Adirondack’ inks at the beginning
Please could you tell me where you buy the dye ink and blending solution?
The good sorted Hobbystore should have it. Most of the Rubber stamps stores sell it. Or look online Karen. They are products from Ranger Ink
Pretty cool results.
Thanks dear.
For those asking here,, DYE BASED inks are water soluble in a shellac base such as Windsor Newton calligraphy or drawing inks. I suppose they create a barrier on the gel plate before you add the alcohol inks over top. I don't know which brand he is using though.....I really liked the 'ghost print' he made with the Japanese paper.
Thanks.
Karmakat59 You can also use re-inkers designed for use with water based ink pads.
Prachtig en leerzaam filmpje Wayne
Dankjewel, ik schrok me rot. Mijn zoon liet zien dat ik al zoveel kijkers, volgers en vragen had.
