    Nice one Big B. I have to admit the RC truck pulling the V2 on a trailer really made me laff! It was like "Get outta the way y'all, Big B is coming to the pond!" 😂
    Love your upgrade of the cooling system 👍 I too am a big fan of using 'Y' connectors to get as much of that cooling juice to all the electrics. And your dead right... tuning your cooling is so important.
    One simple thing to bear in mind when doing this is that water (even under pressure) will always follow the path of least resistance - which is pretty obvious I guess! Having equal resistance from a single inlet source can be controlled in a number of ways... equal tubing lengths (in and out), equal tubing ID (bore) and equal bore on the metal parts of the system, including ESC/motor inlet/outlet nipples and outlet hardware. Many potential variables, but the easiest thing to control is the length and bore (ID) of the tubing coming from the 'Y' to the inlets, and then from the component to the outlets. 😉

      Thanks brother. I was intending on including you build in the this video but it got rather long with the test run and cooling tuning.. should be in tomorrow's vid. Finally got all the photos downloaded and into my video editor

    Doesn’t matter what you do you won’t get your esc temps down by changing hoses or adding the y connection unless you drill out your rudder holes to increase the flow.

    What i did with my sonicwake and other boats i run a water pump. And the Hot Racing M41 dual pickup rudder. Works awesome and they dont get hot. Then you dont always have to have the boat moving to get water through it. I have mine on a remote switch so it doesn't run dry.

      I usually take a few boats out At one time I'm always testing new mods and for my big boats I bring 2 or 3 sets of packs. If I had to recommend 1 thing for the swv2 is larger battery's the 5200 mah are great battery's, I'd go with 7000-8000 mah. I gonna test the run time on the new 7000 100c 6s Sp today's ill let u know how it goes. 110 for 2 packs you can prop down a little bit and get longer run times as well

    Thank you for ALL of your content sir. Has been extremely helpful to me as I'm just getting into boats. With regards to cooling the V2... I'm having super HIGH temp issues with this boat. Box stock I can't run through 2/3 of my battery packs and it's literally smoking hot! I thought maybe it needed a couple runs to loosen up the motor and break in?? The ESC was by far the highest temp. Anyways, I have rerouted both rudder water pickups through the ESC and out the two stock water outlets. I ordered a separate water pickup from Amazon and plan to use that for motor only. Hopefully that setup will work to keep it cool?? Love this boat but why so hot?????

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  2 роки тому

      Yes sir I think your on the right track

  • @Buellerwtfman
    @Buellerwtfman 2 роки тому

    IMO, the restriction on the one line would still make it unbalanced. You would need to match water volume so the heat dissipates evenly. I would put a measuring cut under each outlet and compare amounts over time to balance.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  2 роки тому +1

      I've got it cooling like a top now the zip tie works fairly well. Thanks for the information & input I appreciate it

    • @robbryan3044
      @robbryan3044 2 роки тому

      I don't think it would be "unbalanced" at all. Yes, the amount of water flowing through each 'side' of the ESC's water cooling block would be cut in half...but, the amount of water flowing through each side should be identical (as long the tubing leading into, and out of, each side has the same ID).
      At the same time...and, the whole purpose of such a mod...there is the advantage of cold water flowing through each side, cooling the ESC much better than the stock configuration. With the stock configuration, water entering the cooling block from the rudder is cold...but, it's warmer by the time it exits, and goes into the other side of the cooling block.
      Ask of that having been said, here's an even better cooling mod. First, run each coming line from the rudder into each side of the ESC's cooling block, exiting the stock exit locations. Next, install a separate water pickup to the left of, or behind, the prop. Then, drill a new hole (also on left side) for a tube running from the new pickup at into the motor cooling jacket to and then from the cooling jacket to the "antenna tube" hole. With this configuration, each 'cooling' section (motor, left side of ESC cooling block, & right side of ESC cooling block) has its own coming line, to from pickup to exit.

    I seem to recall a video of you drilling the holes in the esc water fittings bigger, but can't find it. I have a SW36V2 and am getting a lot of restriction through the esc water jacket. I'm planning on doing a 3rd water pickup similar to how you did one on your SW36V1, pipe that to the motor, and run both rudder lines to the ESC. Am I wrong, though? Did you not drill open the fittings?

    Hey bud, I have the Lucas Oil Catamaran and can not for the life of me find the wire shaft that fits it, is there an alternative part? Thanks, love the videos and how you show in detail as well.
