Programming the Sonicwake V2 SPEKTRUM SMART 120a MARINE ESC is super easy with the e-z set button.
Thanks for watching IRONCLAD RC TINKER TEST AND TUNE EVERYTHING

Thank you
Think im going to run this setting in cooler weather and stock in the summer 🤙
Awesome vids , love seeing them run ! Tips and tricks work every time!! Thanks man , you rule rc boating !!!
Thanks for this. I just got this boat and the manual only shows how to program with the program box so this was really helpful.
Awesome info. Great explanation. Nice job.👍😎
That was for the PRO boat 2
if you can make a video party that be great
That is a very informative video bigB because I’m going to have to find the program for my dynamite 120a esc after my foolishly cooking a perfectly good lipo. I was having so much fun I’d forgotten to check if the low voltage alarm was on hence a VERY puffied up battery when all of a sudden she kept spluttering at high throttle and i immediately knew I’d blown a very good 4s lipo. Even at 100c, I’d been giving her throttle a bit of abuse…!!
Just got my program box gonna try and fine tune the timing with out all the bs, and it will work on all my spectrum smart esc' s , peace .
Good stuff buddy. Boat gang
Just for the record, my 1:20 Atlas came in from the last run with "THAT" smell coming from the ESC (It was a different ESC than the ones I supply in the kit). I have a Dynamite 30 that will be going into it when it's time on the board comes around.
Hey Big B! I followed your great instructions to set the esc and it looks like all went well. I don't understand what the timing settings are all about! And I have not changed them. Could you explain what those are for and do?
Ok, I read through the Boat Gang comments and found the exact information regarding the timing settings that you advised another member to take a look at! Now I understand.... Thanks Big B!
Damn big B… love the content. Just saying your
Finger looks like the Michelle MAN!
😃
The impuse 32 they set the timing from the factory at 7.5 so I'm only gonna do like you and give it one bump up in timing angle go from there, also got me some ose props too. Hope I keep the pretty side up. Peace
Very helpful to know!! And I sent you an email on the one you gave me
Quick question off the topic. What is your go to tape for the hatch?
Hey bud, love you videos, question, the stock timing on the v2 is zero? Wich should run the coolest? Looking for longer cooler, run times, with larger mah batteries, not top speed , thanks! Keep up the good work,
To be quite honest I've tried all the timing options on the stock esc and the stock setting ran the boat the coolest.
@@IRONCLADRC thanks!
Alright Big B, great channel really liking the vids on the sonicwake. I have the v1 sonicwake and am thinking of changing the motor to a leopard 3674 with higher kv maybe 2200kv or 2650kv, is there any issues il run into or reason why this would be a bad idea? It just I don't fancy cutting the hull with dremel to put 4074 motor size in.
Worth a shot...
Not sure the 2650kv option would be good with 6S. Ok with 4S though.
Are you thinking there will be excessive heat with the high rpm from a 2650kv motor on 6s?
Yes mate, this is an excerpt from blog on RC Boatbitz website, very good article…
rcboatbitz.com/guides/choosing-a-brushless-motor/
“The larger the can size the lower the safe operating rpm will be. As a very rough guide for maximum SAFE working RPMs here are some examples.
36mm can size 40,000 - 45,000 rpm
40mm can size 35,000-40,000 rpm
58mm can size 28,000 - 30,000 rpm.
For example a proven and reliable 40mm motor for a 6s Traxxas Spartan is a TP Pro Comp 4060 V1 6D 1650KV
Maximum loaded voltage being 3.9v per cell, so 3.9 x 6 = 23.4v
23.4 x 1650kv = 38,610rpm.”
So assuming your 6S @ 23.4V x 2650kv = 62,010 RPM…so for a 36mm can, this is too much. Not just heat issues, but burnt bearings and she’ll probably just smoke!
Even 2200kv is max RPM of 51,000 may be too much on 6S.
Generally a motor 2000kv or less is better suited for 6S. Where as 4S on a 3674 motor, gives you 44,520 and 36,960 RPM respectively, so this would work fine.
Hope this helps!
Thanks Marx for all the info, I had a read at what you wrote and a good read at the link from boat bitz. There is alot of information to take on board. I have subscribed to your channel with catch up with you there.
Thanks again Richard
With the spectrum smart controller you can use a cheap hobby wing programmer. Or you can spend the 30 bucks and get the spectrum.
What does turning the timing up do? Does it give it more power?
Here's a link. Read this article it will give you a better understanding than I could ever do in the comment section. Hope it helps. www.radiocontrolinfo.com/__trashed/
Hi i heard those sonicwake v2 got flex cable vibration problem ! Just ordered mine it s on the way hope there not all that way or easy fix . Did you have this problem?
I'm thinking it's the prop that vibrating not the shaft. Props should be balanced perfectly if not it will vibrant like crazy
@@IRONCLADRC thanks yeah i seen you balance one i got the same balancer tried it on my volantex sr80 prop would not spin freely at al berly do a turn thinking prop maybe to light maybe ? What you think
Hi, I was wondering by any chance you could help me to bind this Pro Boat HRZ00006 2.4Ghz Receiver WP 3-Channel
I never binded that receiver. Unfortunately, I can't help wish I could... good luck 👍
Would you happen to know if the 120 and the 160 have the same mounting bolt pattern?
They don't, is it for the v2?
@@IRONCLADRC yes it is
Yes
Hey man I got the pro boat sonic wake V2 , get boat turned on and get it in the water and it runs for 5 seconds then ESC shuts off then beeps and re connects then runs for 5 seconds , signs of bad esc? Should I upgrade to the 160 amp esc?
Tough call, the firma 160 isn't a direct drop In 6.5 mm bullets need to be soldered onto the motor, other than that it's a drop in unit.
@@IRONCLADRC are there any ESC upgrades for that boat that are direct drop in?
Can I send you a picture of my boat and receiver
Sure shoot me an email, address is in description
I see, you lost a video.... Oh well, I liked it anyway … Keep up the hobby.
That rant was A little over the top. 😆
