not really. fhe reason OG ghost was cool was because nobody said he was cool. he just existed and was fine with that. in this game every single character is like “he’s so big”, “is that ghost”, “such a badass”. saying someone is badass just makes them less badass

Strange, i still prefer the old MW2. At least that's because i prefer to play as another soldier like Roach that fight alongside Ghost, Soap and any other character in a mission rather than play as one of them in the new MW2. And somehow, i feel like the new MW2 is basically The Avengers movie rather than modern real-life Task Force soldiers.
Soap and Ghost in the OG were 6'2" and 6'2 1/2" respectively. So basically almost the same height with Ghost being a smidge taller. You probably wouldn't even notice with Soap's mohawk, tbh. The 2022 characters aren't given canonical heights, sadly, but we can assume they were probably modeled after the actors. Ghost's actor, Samuel Roukin, is 6'3", so Ghost got *slightly* taller. However, I don't think Neil Ellice ever said how tall he was, so uhh... we can probably assume Soap shrunk. I'm gonna be a nut and take this a step further though. Pulling out the good ol' height comparison tool. It's a little tricky to find where Soap falls on Ghost, he tends to stand closer to the camera, but the one time they're side by side, the top of his head lines up with the bottom of where Ghost's nose probably is. By plugging in Ghost's height of 6'3", you can finick with the second number until you end up with something about right. I got about that height difference at 5'10", which is ever so slightly taller than the average height in the UK (5'9"). TL;DR Soap went from being large and in charge to being average height while Ghost stayed about the same, but seems like a fucking giant by comparison.
Agreed. I still like the new game though. Would appeal to those who enjoy characters more than the warfare, though I think both aspects were superior in the original trilogy.
I just have to applaud the devs on Ghost’s character development throughout the campaign. Went from wanting to work alone, and outright being annoyed with having to work with Soap, to accepting it and declaring him part of the team. Not to mention the fact that at the beginning Ghost wanted to leave the people in the crashed helicopter, and then at the end he went by himself when Price went down. Bravo developers.

So they basically had a (Semi) - Personality switch between Soap and Ghost, Ghost being the new leader with Soap's grizzled experience personality and New Soap doing the computer stuff like old ghost with him being a little bit more green (and shorter). Makes sense tho, this Soap didnt really watch his closest friends get executed as he and Price were near death in a collapsing bridge against a terrorist leader slowly making his way against you in a literal pre-war world where nukes were dropped only to be sent to actual WW3, so, y'know, neither here nor there as to why this Soap is so spry.

The relationship between Soap and Ghost swapped, in MW2 Soap was in charge of Ghost, he was also taller, stronger and more intimidating than him. But in MWII, Ghost is the stronger one, and and Soap takes OG Ghosts position. I also like that the new Ghost is a more important character, in the original he was just an NPC with a cool design, and he was insanely overrated.
I always viewed OG Ghost and Emile from Halo Reach the same, the skull mask or skull helmet, they don’t say much but it’s cool when they chime in from time to time and their deaths are memorable, but with the new Ghost he’s more vocal than before and has more of a friendship style with his squadmates
It shows all signs your point is right as he lived as an unimportant character and was given a sad death. Infinity Ward looked at this and took advantage of the situation making it so Ghost appeared on almost everything COD related: COD Mobile, MWII, Warzone, Warzone 1984, he's became the most popular and well known character in Call of Duty. Seeing him return in Warzone Season 2 made me too excited.
Ghost from the reboot is a much better written character, like, he really feels like the man from the comic, that went through shit and has nothing dear to him (except soap), there's so much depth

I haven’t played the old MW2 campaign yet(I plan on it) but I have kept up with some of the cod lore and I know well enough that Makarov SHOULD send a chill down anyone’s spines(it did with me).

It’s a very good thing the new Modern Warfare series exists. Back then, I didn’t really take COD characters serious, due to, I don’t know, lack of...character development? I’m not an expert in storytelling, but I know how it works. Sure OG Ghost was cool in his comic story, but in the original Modern Warfare 2, I saw him as some soldier wearing a skull mask for personal reasons, and that’s it. Well, new Modern Warfare 2 came, and I think this is the best Ghost I’ve ever seen. This is the version of Simon Riley I prefer the most😁
I think the most part is every CoD game has different soldiers, no actual connection to the previous CoD games. Black Ops was amazing but it eventually goes stale. Vanguard didnt solve the problem, and its also a missed opportunity to bring back Reznov too since it took place in WWII. They also kinda messed up Cold War when they changed VA for both Mason and Woods. Even Woods’ original VA was unaware of the new game and mocked it for not being like how the game originally was in Black Ops 1 and 2. At least for reboot MW, they kept it consistent.
@@Deathmare235 Act 3 of MW2022 is a bit messy, but from what I got from it is that 141 got into deep and Shepherd does mention that Graves is his to own or something like that, and Shadow company is full of mercenaries and are more for the paycheck then they are the actual stakes. 141 is more humble and is more about the stakes than about money if that makes some sense.

Butchering a loved character just to make another look cooler, when frankly they didn't need to be cooler, as they had peaked already, is a common mistake in storytelling. I respectfully disagree. We already got to see Soap as the new recruit and how he learned and gained experience under an expert and elite team. Ghost was the cool dude who you could rely on during the mission, and I think they should've put more light into that instead of recreating his character.

I like the writing style from the new one a lot better but the overall story of the original was the better of the two. Wish the new one was a bit closer. The awesome writing of the new one with the original story or something close to it would be the best campaign to date
As characters, I much prefer the new Ghost and Soap. They feel more human and fleshed out whereas in the original, they were just soldiers doing missions, barely interacting. In fact, I never got the hype for OG Ghost, he was just another guy in the squad and his death never made me all that sad, unlike Soap’s death. Even Yuri and Sandman felt like more important characters than the OG Ghost ever did

I like the writing style from the new one a lot better but the overall story of the original was the better of the two. Wish the new one was a bit closer. The awesome writing of the new one with the original story or something close to it would be the best campaign to date

Ghost is Juiced in the new MWII and I fucking like it 🙌 makes him a lot formidable to look at.
After playing MW2 reboot (and ONLY that) it’s interesting hearing Ghost’s voice in an urgent/panicky manner

As characters, I much prefer the new Ghost and Soap. They feel more human and fleshed out whereas in the original, they were just soldiers doing missions, barely interacting. In fact, I never got the hype for OG Ghost, he was just another guy in the squad and his death never made me all that sad, unlike Soap’s death. Even Yuri and Sandman felt like more important characters than the OG Ghost ever did

They are good for their own versions, still the OG is classic.
I personally prefer the new ghost, he's bigger taller menacing and has more a relationship with soap and more human then the og mw2 and his overall redesign is just better in my opinion and I say this cause I never got hooked onto the original MW series the Black ops series hooked me way better then it did and just had better overall characters that I think would whoop the og MW characters arses in general and that's my personal take on the og and reboot

They are soldiers, you don't get to focus on the human part, though it does play a big role nonetheless. The primary goal is the mission.
I don't really like the new weird mask though. I preferred the old ski mask and sunglasses, but at least at the end, we see him with the ol' ski mask.
Not gonna lie,but I dont like og ghost.He didn't say any badass line,even tho he had one of the most brutal back story he very soft voice,cause the voice actor was same as gaz from og mw.but the new one of the most cold hearted peopl I have ever seen in a movie or a video game other than the doom guy.he sound badass,looks badass,every single thing about him is just perfect for ghost in the new triology,my man has the power to surpass every character in the new triology

nah you just bought into the idea dark "tactical" appearance /deep voice is good, in reality its overplayed and already being overshadowed in media becuase people realised how shallow it actually is
Old ghost had little screen time, not an OVERPLAYED deep voice and not an overengineered outfit and yet was one of the most loved characters of the franchise. That's a testamant to how well he was written and designed, not that he was overrated.
