Fun fact: In Slavic mythology there is a spirit called the Rusalka that drowns its victims in rivers. They would kill in a way almost identical to 26:04, which is a reference to the ship’s name: Rusalka.
The reason it worked with Germany is because of how short lived the Nazi regime actually was it hadn't settled in and become the complete Norm over multiple generations yet lots of German people were still sceptical to downright opposed to the ideology and the reason why we are still able to hold it is because we constantly condition the children in their education to hate their own country and to constantly be ashamed for their own ancestors there are plenty of neo-nazis in Germany they're just kept on a short leash as for Japan having to drop not one but two nukes in order to pacify a country is not a allied flex if anything it would be Japan flexing on the rest of the world and the only reasons we've got Japan is because we're the only reason they haven't been consumed by China and then of course there is the culture exchange and fascination which has only made the hold deeper the guy is talking about places like Iran and Afghanistan and the like for example (taliban anyone)
@@therandomcommenter6629this ignores that the German people of the interwar period actively SUPPORTED the Nazi government to an unhealthy degree to the point the econpmy of the nation vecame #1 by pure manpower and political will before ww2 started. The reason they couldn't keep that #1 spot is because people were motivated by the prospect of being back on top politically and culturally by avenging ww1 through another war. And when they won the first half, you better bet people bought the cool-aid and then some. They didn't have time to plant as deep of roots as Imperial Japan, but even to this day the ideals of Nazism has overtaken more of their former enemies' nations than their own. Because at that point they no longer had the means nor the spirit to start thinking about another war, it was all about building up again starting from scratch. There was no great leader who could try and convince people they were opressed enough to justify it, and even if they could the presence of aid from the Allied powers just meant it would be a vastly harder sell than the Peace with Honour after Versailles that stripped the nation of basically everything it needed. Japan doesn't even being up ww2 aside from America bombing them and never even knowing Germany was on their side. And as for being consumed by China that really wasn't a thing China could threaten upon Japan for a very long time as even trying to fight the nation while a civil-war was still very much going on and their own economy was in shambles is not a good idea. Navy or no island-hopping is hell and China doesn't have enough to bounce back from a world war and a civil war to suddenly go on the offensive outside of the mainland. It's why Vietnam and Korea are poaces they had a major hand in, they had the means to be there. Much more realistically the Russians would be much larger of a threat. Also we are not taught to hate our ancestors. We are taught to be better than them. There's a reason Theoderic the Great, Frederick II of HRE, Arminius and Barbarossa are much more openly viewed as a positive than say figures like Otto von Bismarck or Frederick II of Prussia. The former did great things which are not as controversial as the latter. Frederick II of Prussia has his own problems with vast authority and Bismarck is villified (justifiably) for the partitioning of Africa which he accidentally started after the Berlin conferrence. And none can argue that it was a good thing for Africa. Liking your culture isn't bad but knowing when it was wrong does wonders. As for Afghanistan and Iraq. They were invasions first nation building second. It was doomed to fail because unlike Germany, Japan, Korea or even the later Vietnam there was no drive to make the place stable aside from status-quo or just wanting to leave after deposing the leaders. The mission really was accomplished. The problem was that mission didn't include provisions to build a nation, and nobody wanted to foot the bill.
@@アーマー配達員 Germany became a republic after ww1 until H man came to power, Japan was ruled by a monarchy that basically lost the military but still had the peoples support until after ww2.
Advanced Warfare was such a great game. Irons is still one of my top 3 video game bad guys... the best ones are ones that start off as your ally, make some solid points that you can agree with, and have gravitas.. and Spacey nailed this role! The character was so powerful he could stand in front of anyone, speak his intentions and there was nothing they could really do about it, until of course our character steps in and goes after him, personally, for revenge.
You missed the beginning of Infinite Warfare, where says: "You care about your men? This place isn't yours anymore. Kill them and save the bullets." That was kinda like GoT level stuff.
@@leaderofmine6293 Basically just the title of the game being very casually said by characters in the game. It can get make sense or be quite goofy. Like in Black Ops Cold War, of course it's recognized the Cold War going on and that some of these characters are Black Ops. But it'd be ridiculous, possibly funny, of seeing someone straight up say "This is black ops cold war" or similar along those lines. This line with Advanced Warfare was pretty alright, and makes sense in the context there.
I think one of the reasons Irons is one of the best COD villains is because he is right, and accurately describes everything that is wrong with western society, and politics in general.

After the death of his son, he becomes ruthless, using deception, betrayal, and advanced technology to manipulate global events for his own power. Are you sure you want to join him?
Irons was such a great villian, A man who had created a PMC, Lost his son in a war, Recruits his sons best freind, Attacks the people he blames for his sons death using his PMC, which accumulated power over the years, I wish we now had a AW 2, As well as a Ghost 2, Ghosts was a conceptual masterpiece, one of the first cod games i played, the Apocalyptic U.S, South America going to invade the North, I just wish that the Ghosts were more of a Guiriella-Stealth unit, instead of what we got, But i wish that we had a ghost 2, or at the very least Ghosts had more fleshed out lore, Like why the south invaded the north, Where is the U.S's allies? And that cliffhanger ending...as a person who loved ghosts from the begining, I wish it didnt get as much hate, So the cliffhanger ending, well, wasnt a Cliffhanger anymore.

"You tried to make me kill my own President!!!"
"...tried?"

I love that part of BO1, because Mason was convinced he snapped out of it before he could do what Dragovich wanted.
In the moment, cause he's trying to kill him, Mason doesn't think about it, but you do.
Then the whole thing with the second shooter that was never caught.
Man that was peak writing
10:55 The Greatest opening to ANY game in COD.
Makarov's voice gives me chills 😏
3:28 I Love how they reacted more negatively from that then to him admitting of building a Weapon of Mass Destruction, Now THAT'S Realistic as Hell!
10:29 makarov is still an amazing villain. Still my favorite mission ever.
9:07 got me laugh, it's like "tomorrow we will win"
And then Harper is like "not you mf"
Surprise mf

I live in Vietnam, i confirm that my country had recieved and suffering a 15 millions tons of Democracy from America.. so i concluded that my country is a Democracy state 😊😊
😏
It’s crazy how half the villains had to do something extremely inhumane to have people not like them because activision knows that the villains are right half the time.
Everybody gangster until Graves' name turns red.
Man I didn't remember how good Kevin Spacey was in advanced warfare. The game just got so overshadowed by being advanced warfare I kinda just forgot what the campaign was. Guys a PoS but it's still nice to see "real" actors taking video game performances seriously
Fun fact: In Slavic mythology there is a spirit called the Rusalka that drowns its victims in rivers. They would kill in a way almost identical to 26:04, which is a reference to the ship’s name: Rusalka.
Ngl Irons is an underrated one. Literally could’ve been Makarov levels of villain if they were willing to focus their story
agreed

You can still see the number of dislikes on UA-cam in 2025. Black Ops 2 is literally unplayable.
MW3 would hands down have the best intro to call of duty
Irons was right. Politicians are weak

@@icekingcodNo he isn't
"What happens here today, will change the world, forever.

Irons is unironically the most underrated COD villain by a mile, and probably one of the most well-written in modern FPS games.
“We’re going to destroy them together”- Rorke the only villain that Won
He's actually scary asf ngl especially after taking logan
“Tried?”
“GAGAHABSBSGSHHASHSBBSB”
-Dragovich
Irons,Menedez and Shepherd are by far the best villains in this franchise
Irons was a really good villain in my opinion
agreed
Never played a COD game so all I've seen of him is this video. What makes him a villain? Nothing showed here was villainous.
@@DovaDude Sntagonist more like tbh

0:44 with all due respect, it kind of worked with Japan and Germany although granted we never used a bomb in Germany but the point still stands.
I think Israel counts as well?
Both Japan and Germany were democracies before they were dictated by military regimes, right?
@@アーマー配達員 Germany became a republic after ww1 until H man came to power, Japan was ruled by a monarchy that basically lost the military but still had the peoples support until after ww2.
Advanced Warfare was such a great game. Irons is still one of my top 3 video game bad guys... the best ones are ones that start off as your ally, make some solid points that you can agree with, and have gravitas.. and Spacey nailed this role! The character was so powerful he could stand in front of anyone, speak his intentions and there was nothing they could really do about it, until of course our character steps in and goes after him, personally, for revenge.
whoever wrote Jonathan Irons' character is a goat
It's always kinda scary when the villain suddenly start makes sense before you go deep into it
"5 years ago, I lost 30 thousand men in the blink of an eye... and the world just fuckin' watched"
"Perseus" Was never a villain. He is the perfect counterpiece to Adler. If he's a villian or not is a matter of perspective
👍

My favorite quote…
“Train go boom”
You missed the beginning of Infinite Warfare, where says: "You care about your men? This place isn't yours anymore. Kill them and save the bullets." That was kinda like GoT level stuff.
Jon Snow if a time traveler moved a chair😂
Death is no disgrace!
4:05 The meme
What a meme? Just tell me. Everyone just got confused
@@leaderofmine6293 Haven't you ever heard of this meme? "What You're Seeing Is Advanced Warfare"
"What YOU'RE seeing is NOTHING! YOUR EYES ARE DEAD!"
- Conan O'Brien
Tbh wat Irons said could pretty much be used in the real world and that’s scary to think about
I think one of the reasons Irons is one of the best COD villains is because he is right, and accurately describes everything that is wrong with western society, and politics in general.
Bro Irons literally established Gundam 00’s Celestial Being
“Peace through Power”
"Decepticons in human skin" ----Optimus Prime
The way Sheperd talks makes me feel patriotic, and I'm an Iranian.
Stitch deserved to be a campaign character

Every day that goes by just proves Irons was right.

When i was younger AW's villian Irons to me was just another crazy power hungry dude. Now me older, man, he was right. And it makes me appreciate AW more. I miss simpler times.
Remember that the Makarov in the MW3 "remake" is NOTHING like the OG Makarov.
The new Makarov is a cartoon villain. He does bad things because he has to
@@icekingcod Not to mention how they did Soap dirty with his death... the OG MW3 at least ended with us AS Price avenging Soap's death.

General Roman Barkov: *I WILL PROTECT RUSSIA!!!!!!!!!!!!*

Kevin Spacey went hard with his role

Never played Advanced Warfare, but you're telling me Irons is the villian...?
... Can I join his side?
After the death of his son, he becomes ruthless, using deception, betrayal, and advanced technology to manipulate global events for his own power. Are you sure you want to join him?
Irons is spitting facts
I always agreed with Irons. I just feel like he could've gone a better way about it.
"No we are not"
then the coldest and funniest line I've seen in the game
Jonathan Irons is my favourite cod villain ngl
4:06 he said the thing, 15:07 he also said the thing, 21:42 he did it as well
👍
👍👍
Advanced warfare was fire bro holy
Are we developing such a weapon? No.
😃
Because we already developed it.

and everyone claps 👏
Its scary that Irons has a good point
Advanced warfare always gets a pass for me because it made the press F to pay respect
Just something about “Comrade” that makes me pick Perseus every time.

Perseus and Irons got some points….at least they was treating you like an equal
Get up Comrade! let's make a little revenge (Perseus)
I like kinda agree with some of the stuff irons says tho, he makes good points
"Death is no disgrace" is still one of the hardest lines in COD history
