  • Buying a car or truck right now is insane because of the semiconductor shortage causing a supply shortage of new and used vehicles...but as so many of you have pointed out, I really need a truck. So, I bought a truck!! And of course I'm sharing the whole truck buying experience with all of you.... at the end of the video we will reveal which truck I bought!!

      #1 reason NOT to buy anything right now besides all the other things going on in the world. A serious life event does screw up rational thinking. Plus, I don't know exactly where he lives in the city of Chicago, but a brand new truck looks like bait to me. If he needs a truck to do his YT thing, I would get a beater truck to haul crap around. I'm an auto brat (Dad worked for one of the big 3) and I get the thrill of a new vehicle, but I've learned over the years, that a vehicle is just that....wheels.

    Ford dealers originally were charging crazy amounts over MSRP and the manufacturer put out a statement that if the dealers kept abusing the clients they wouldn’t deliver anymore vehicles to them. As before Ford dealers were charging that 10K+ amount.

      So the msrp is what Ford is charging/recommending.
      Dealerships are marking it up, and they're not direct representatives of the manufacturer, just the middle man. The Ford dealership I go to does under msrp.

    Congratulation to your new Truck!
    11 M/gal?? This is about 21.4 l/100 km. No wonder US-Car manufacturers have so huge problems selling their products here. You could never sell such a thirsty Truck in Europe.

      And in Denmark we are nearly forces to buy electric, cause we have to be green, what does et matter in little Denmark? and we also have insane taxes on cars, nearly 180% so many people drive in small cars, that nearly can be parked on the bed of this truck, with I 0,8 liter motor, and around 60 hp with manuel gear, cause automatic costs extra tax... oh. and by the way, the tax is cheaper if there is no back seats, then it can drive as a van, but then if it is privat owned the yearly road tax is 4 times more expensive then the same car with rear seats (in Denmark we pay a yearly tax for driving on the roads, based on the vehicle, emission status, fuel consumption and so on, and the we can drive as much as we want)

    Glad I bought this one ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxT9ExVpR-3A-9rpRqx8vzXKZ3BMMTg_KH . I had a customer looking for a shed that didn't look 'prefab' and was rustic, but "cute" (her term). I showed her the cover of the book and, with a few modifications, she was sold. I've never built a shed but I do have some framing knowledge. The info on roofing is very helpful to me. I was also psyched that the section for the shed on the cover had measured drawings for the trim boards and keystone pieces for the gable ends and over the windows. Should make life a little easier for me.

      US motor choices in a nutshell. Not all cars and motors are as bad, but it's a general trend in the car market over there. Hopefully more expensive fuel may push for some efficiency there as well.

    • @amandao.8043
      @amandao.8043 2 роки тому

      So the game in the US is that we have legislation raising miles per gallon minimums, however car makers get to average out their mileage across their whole fleets - in other words they can sell a pile of compacts, sedans and SUVs (getting 20-30/mpg) and then not care about trucks as much.

  • @SurpriseMechanics
    @SurpriseMechanics 2 роки тому +93

    13:11 pretty sure they were lying to you about someone having already bid 10k over msrp. I recently bought a hybrid suv and the salesman kept telling me someone was coming in to look at it after me. I stuck to my guns with my offer, said if he wants a sale now, he can take it, or he can take his chances later (because I knew there was no other bidder). I ended up buying the car for my initial offer so don’t be so desperate.
    Also, kinda sus they wouldn’t let you film there.

    • @silencionomus

      I shoot cars and trucks for various dealerships so I get to regularly get a close look at all the brands and I will have to say, GM/chevy trucks are the worst of them all. their interiors are still cheap and nasty compared to the other two. The exterior design just looks like its trying to be too imposing and ends up looking stupid. I don't understand why GM has been moving towards such a tall and flat front end across their product range. I pop the hood and the top of the engine is easily a foot and half under. Why on earth would anyone want a tiny slit of a windshield and a huge hood that blocks your view of anything in front. The tundra is a bit like that too but at least the interiors are nicer and are more reliable. I think Trucks need to move back to being actual functional work vehicles instead of "image" vehicles.

    I’ve been following you for awhile. I’m glad you are recovering well. Having Andrei along was brilliant!! We all want to do something for the people of Ukraine & you provided a way that I feel comfortable with.

    The truck market has been crazy for The last 5 years +. I bought a new truck in 2017, I realized quickly that I was saving $4,000 for a vehicle that had 40,000 miles and simply wasn't worth it.

    Congratulations on your new truck! I'm looking for a new truck, but I'm concerned about mileage and the mark up in this market. I'm not in a hurry, so I can wait a while. It was fun living vicariously through you as you got to buy a new truck! Very glad you're on the mend!

    I traded my GTI for a truck too a few years ago. Never looked back, you won't regret it!

    I had the exact same problem when getting my car. There’s simply no used cars. I decided on getting a new Suzuki swift sport, so happy with it! Hope you enjoy your well-deserved new truck!

    Grats on the new truck! I wish I could fit a full sized truck in my extremely narrow driveway but I've been relegated to a Ford Ranger STX. Luckily its a solid mid sized truck that I bought back before the pandemic and I couldn't be happier with it.

    God damn! American trucks are more or less buildings with wheels!
    Don't get me wrong, I see the appeal and utility of these things. But im pretty glad that these monsters are not really practical for most UK roads.

    Back in the day, I had a huge liking to the early 2000 Ford F150 Lightning. It was rare at the time to see many on the road and when you did, I always got excited seeing in passing.
