Jokes aside, Royal finally did justice (heh) to his character. His relationship with Joker is 10x better in Royal, they finally develop the whole rival thing they were going for since the beginning, but couldn't quit pull off in vanilla P5. Royal also doesn't have that stupid rank up in his confidant when he's about to shoot you. That was dumb as hell.

I just thought the other day, how awesome would a scene like this have been: The phantom thieves are all gearing up for the final battle against [REDACTED], Joker received the somber revelation of what will happen to Akechi when this is all over (if they win) just yesterday. As everyone walks into the tower, Joker, seems to hesitate, looking upwards. Akechi: What is it? Having second thoughts? Joker: No, its just... We never had those pancakes you wanted. Akechi: (Flash of confusion which almost immedietly gives way to a death stare when he realizes what Joker is referencing) Joker: (smirk) Akechi: You are so lucky I won´t be around to kill you for that when this is all over.

Akechi was an AWFUL character. He did not deserve better, he was already shoehorned into the game and took up too much of the game's cutscen time being wasted in his utter irrelevance as it was. He was an irritating and bothersome blatant one-dimensional plot element that overstayed his welcome and added NOTHING to the overall narrative. Then the game had the gall to make the most annoying, obnoxious, selfish, gross, creepy, and psycopathic loser into some kind of "misunderstood tragedy" that everyone suddenly felt SORRY for for some bizarre reason even though he did NOTHING in the story or with his actions to even come close to earning the forced sympathy at his literal dying moments, the game shoved in the players face, even though none of this sympathy was earned. His entire presence in the story was irrelevant and useless, he was annoying and obnoxious every moment he was on screen, and the pretentious garbage during his wasteful, extended last moments was so morally confused and pathetic, I wanted to puke. Akechi was a forced, shitty character with a one-dimensional personality that could have been completely removed from the story and nothing would have been lost. Akechi and his unearned fanbase can both burn in hell.
They should of had multiple endings with akechi. If you didn’t do his confidant it proceeds like normal p5, if you get to rank 8 you get the ending with the 3 semester where akechi was revived in the false reality and add 2 more non story confidant ranks for him 9-10 and if you hit 10 you save akechi from death and get a different ending in the 3 semester when you take on maruki, it would also give akechi a different costume and persona as if his hatred for joker leaves him to an extent allowing a true self to form

After Okumura dies, they all act like this is some big mystery.....when they already know there is someone else going in and causing havoc in other people....so why not after a day of the death, any of the calm characters (Joker, Makoto, Ann, Morgana) come to this conclusion? It feels like that was ham fisted into the story to stretch the story out longer. Also, Akechi Can stay where he went. He could have been good, but SOB didn’t try that. Blech! Also, Also, Ryuji isn’t a waifu? Like that guy out of the character type (a la Jumpei and Yosuke as well) he is, he has a lot more self awareness and is trying to be better. Like who the hell wouldn’t want him as their Waifu? Blasphemy, I say!

I think that what's really great about not knowing is that for now it doesn't matter. You have to deal with whatever happens now, and what happens now is that pancake boi is not part of your life now. You can wonder about him, you can hope he's alive and that one day your path and his will cross again, but you have to keep on living regardless. And I think that that's what amazing about it.
