Oversight charts used: Backup Disc as a RSOD activator: Rockman X5 (Japanese version of Mega Man X5) (This backup is used for triggering the RSOD. As original PS1 format discs are printed with a sort of "wobble groove". This sort of thing is used to identify the region data and the copy protection on the disc. A CD/DVD burner cannot replicate the wobble groove and any backup will be rejected by the PS1/2.) RSOD to PS1 Game: Boots straight to PS1 BIOS, starts game. RSOD to PS2 CD Game: Boots straight to PS2 logo, starts game. RSOD to PS2 DVD Game: Boots straight to PS2 logo, starts game. RSOD to PS2 DVD Dual Layer Disc Game: Boots straight to PS2 logo, starts game. RSOD to Audio CD: Loads the Browser menu from RSOD. Accesses CD tracks. RSOD to DVD Video: Boots the DVD Player from the RSOD, starts disc. Notes: PS1 Game used: Atari Anniversary Edition PS2 CD Game used: Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex PS2 DVD Game used: I-Ninja PS2 DVD Dual Layer Disc Game used: Gran Turismo 4 Audio CD used: Christmas (??) DVD disc used: Donkey Kong Country: Bad Hair Day (OH BANANA!) System used: PS2 Slim [PAL] more coming soon. Extra: For PAL DVDs, NTSC media needs to fit natively with the PAL format. To sync the audio with the video, while the video framerate needs to be 25 frames (per second), the audio also needs to be sped up and slightly raise the pitch of the audio (percentage: 0.724%). The video resolution should be 576 interlaced. The rest of the video runtime is shortened. This can be common for PAL DVDs or VHSs, or LaserDiscs of NTSC media. In this case, the Nelvana logo needs to fit with the PAL format as well (5:06).
@@FarmYardGamingThere was indeed a footage showing it happen somewhere on Reddit, although I wasn’t able to trace it back. The player was playing Half-Life for the PS2 when it crashed to RSOD.
weird! I know that the rsod occurs too if any disc that the system could play is dirty. but why does it do that even if you insert the right format disc? I tried inserting a original playstation game into my ps2 but it gave the rsod but I figured I needed to clean it so i did and inserted it back in the ps2 and it worked!

The audio CD one felt the weirdest for not cutting to the browser/system config screen but rather straight into the browser itself..
I had an action replay MAX for PS2 that would just red screen me all the time and I had to keep resetting the PS2 until it actually booted and worked.
Oh My God, Same Here!
Me too!
Imagine a game that crashes and when it does, you get the red screen.
Supposedly this is actually possible
That would be scary
