The SEGA CD’s warning track doesn’t actually damage audio systems. The guitar riffs in the background were meant to catch your attention so you can eject the disk.
Because if the audio player progresses to the next track on the disk, which is where all the game data is, the screeching/corrupted sounds _will_ be deafening and will blow out your speakers.

Every so often, I revisit this video. I don’t know what it is about this, maybe because I watched it when I was younger, but there’s something so captivating about this compilation.
I think that these guys thought that scaring kids to hell would teach them to not ever do that stuff again, like a "That'll teach you!" moment.

The PS2 red screen of death was more calming and made me fall asleep instead of being creepy. I got it once when tryna put Minecraft 360 edition into the PS2 as an "experiment." While I was watching this just now, when fearful harmony played, a fly landed on me and I murdered it so shook up I think the other flies probably felt it.
That shouldn’t actually be the case funnily enough. Xbox and Xbox 360 games had a small DVD file stored on them that would play when inserted into a dvd error, telling the user that they needed to insert it into an Xbox console. Since the PS2 has a built in DVD player, it automatically plays these. These little Xbox videos are up on UA-cam if you’re curious.
Definitely. At the time I was into space and rocket ships, so when it appeared, it honestly felt like watching a galaxy in one of those cosmos documentaries. It’s serene and calm, as if to show the beauty of space.
I tried to get it by putting my Kirby's Epic Yarn disk in my PlayStation 2, but I guess it will only do this with Xbox and PC disks because my PlayStation 2 just said the disk couldn't be read, no red in sight
I actually kinda like the fearful harmony, it’s like when the main character dies, starts to ascend while dissolving into crystals.

The dolby surround intro with a flashy light moving while starting NFS Porsche unleashed actually scared the hell out of me
These sounds are like, if I heard them as a kid, especially the third one, I would have immediately started getting agitated the second time I'm about to hear it (after having heard it once) and start screaming and trying to turn it off before it reaches the part where it goes blank and turns off. My heart would have literally not been able to take it and if I heard it a second or third time, I would have literally sat in a corner, screaming and starting to scratch off my skin till I die. I really don't know why but it just hits the core of my nightmares as a kid and I'm not joking I would have just died in a corner after that.

Fuck I had no idea the PS1 crashed when booting a burnt disc. That definitely would've given me nightmares as a kid, like wow what an absolute trainwreck of a crash. Obviously, it's not programmed to function like that, because I'm certain half of that is debug junk left over from development, & the audio is the startup tune but now increasingly louder & skipping, but the crash is so conveniently creepy it'd guaranteed keep you from trying to pirate games again.

This gives me a lot of chills down my spine
Error messages always scared the shit outta me when I was little. I remember the Tony Hawk Underground games would instantly take you to a completely silent red screen with small white text in the center, telling you the game disc was broken.
What was creepy was that most of the time, the game could last a little while before doing this, so all you could do was fearfully anticipate when your speakers would just go silent and the screen went blank red. While as an adult, it isn't very scary now, but as a little kid and staying up late, this shit creeped me out.

I guess the memories were repressed because I don’t remember watching the video itself, but I clearly remember the hidden Xbox sounds, specially the first one, with the green background used in the video. Those were seriously some of the scariest, if not THE SCARIEST sounds I’ve ever

Interestingly enough, starting at 8:35 in the video, I ACTUALLY heard this while certain games were loading on the Xbox. But it was rare and only happened either with Demo disks OR games like Munch's Oddysee, Dead or Alive 3, and a bit with Halo Combat Evolved. For many many years I wondered what that sound was and kept thinking (in my 6-8 year(ish) mind that it was the sound of code) What a nostalgia trip lol.
sega cd freaked me out as a kid, i remembered running to my moms room to hug her for at least an hour cause of the background sound.

fun fact:the guitar riffs are not meant to damage the speakers.track 1 is cdrom data which will make a loud high pitch noise.however the warning is on track 2 instead of 1 so older cd players speakers would get damaged as they first play track 1 but on newer cd players it would just give an error that the audios bad
As a kid, I was terrified of glitches. These sounds would probably have given me nightmares.
As a kid, I can confirm that I feel uneasy whenever a glitch happens.
For example, clipping out of the map and into the black void below. Just thinking about it gives me shivers.
Another thing that creeps me out is when the ground doesn't render but you can still stand on it. You can see the black void and the skybox ending abruptly. Gives me anxiety.
Also missing textures. They give me the chills. It's creepy to load into a normal game and then the ground having a black and purple checkerboard everywhere.

For the Sega CD, the guitar riffs are not the problem it's track one thats the problem, because if you keep playing for too long, It will go to track one and starts playing really loud sounds that can damage the speakers.

Xavi 1809 I know that the PS4 was 7 years old in 2007 but I had it up to 2014. Then traded it for my cousins PS3 in 2015. I had that until 2018 and currently own a PS4 Slim which I absolutely love

The GameCube disk error sound scared me when you inserted a scratched or damaged disk, the console would start up normally, but before the cube 🧊 drops, the intro gets warped into this rectangle and then a cube and had a menu for data and how to fix the game disk

Cave sounds aren't THAT scary.
The first one with the Sega CD was probably the creepiest one. Specifically because of the woman constantly warning you to remove the disk from your CD player and her voice sounding more serious the more it plays. It’s like the device is actually warning you to stop playing the CD because something terrifying might happen.
Yeah, a lot of people forget this but that bit about Microsoft wanting to make the Xbox seem like "a console from another world" was a big part of the marketing and lore behind the original Xbox. They wanted to portray it like a piece of alien technology that was far advanced beyond human understanding. Those freaky noises that were added by altering NASA transmissions were definitely an attempt to further that experience and make the user feel like they were operating alien hardware.
