Wooo, excited for this one, I have this one ready to be built, one of my favourite shape planes, definitely will be using your build for inspiration haha.
I thank you for the support. I have had this kit for sometime now, and have been waiting for aftermarket kits to come.. They really never did so here I go! I look forward to your thoughts in the days to come!
@@inclusivemodeldesigns16 I thank you for all the time, effort and energy that you put into showing us how you build your models and your techniques, I havent modelled for over 10years so for someone like me its incredibly helpful!!! Will be looking forward to more videos. Ive also purchased a few after market parts for mine, would like to do the model justice!! Take care.
@@ericjaulin9562 I am just glad people find it of interest... Most of my work ends up in museums which is great, but it sits behind glass so it's hard to get up close and really see the detail.. However I guess if people were to get to close they would touch and break most likely? I look forward to hearing from you and how your builds come along.... Thank you for the support Eric...
Yea I knew you be doing the b24, I got both the j and d now, cant wait to start on them both. now that I've got the better glass for the turret. Looking forward to seeing this complete. I'm currently building a trumpeter 1/24 Stuka b2 thing is huge, got some nice pilot/gunner for it. All the best mate
I didn't forget about you Josh. By the time I got to this kit all heck broke loose.... I was waiting for you to chime in, but as I see you took care of it... Sorry mate.... Funny you mention the STUKA.... I was seriously looking at that kit... Just way to much on the go right now....
Just a little info for ya...my grandfather flew the b-26 marauder..b-25...b-50...b-36...b-47...and the buff, but his fav was the b-24. When I was growing up he always talked about Bouncing Betty (by the way Betty was my grandmother she didn't think it was funny) Anyway he always talked about that ship..it always brought him and the crew home safe and it gave them plenty of bounce. I'm starting the same model I have hundreds of pics of my grandfather through his 43 years of service and that is a kickass build! P.S. if you need reference photos hit me up!! Happy modeling 🤘
WOW! Your grandfather had a wonderful history with some great aircraft! What stories you must have heard..... You should post videos of your build and pics.. I would be happy to follow along...
8:26 ish, the early B24s had 4 throttle levers, 4 mixture levers, and 4 turbocharger waste gate levers, Later B24s H-M had electronic dialed turbocharger controls (the box on the pedestal nearest the pilot's yoke)
Great work. The Wongo Wongo never made it to the Ploesti Oil complex. It crashed into the Mediterranean Sea with no survivors on the way to Ploesti. Great kit no doubt but it is made in China and I am boycotting all Chinese goods. HK is from Hong Kong so I will wait for a HK B-24. Love your work.
I am just learning about the Ploesti raid. I am not familiar about what plane names were involved etc... With saying that I may not be doing a B-24 that has anything to do with that raid.... Just a B-24D in general. Cool info though. Always nice to learn.
1:21 Oh, my. You do know that the Norder Bomdsight is a critical wartime instrument and they can not fall into enemy hands at any cost. Other than that...thanks for the post and looking forward to the build.
I ordered mine a couple days ago and it should be arriving sometime between Christmas Eve and January 16 lol. It’s from a Chinese company but I got it for 190 including shipping. So I’m kind of excited. I’m joining a heavy group build, and using this as my build for a six month challenge. I have a feeling it may turn into a six year challenge but we’ll see how it goes lol I think you’re still working on yours from what I can tell in the videos. Do you have a final video yet?
If you have the skill to scratch-build clothing, personal gear, equipment, etc., Preiser (Germany) offer well-sculpted figurines in various scales, including those you mention here.
Watching this made me go check my stash, and I have a J, is that a bad kit, is the D supposed to be better? I could eBay the J and get a D. I checked Eduard, and their set just says B-24, is that good for both versions? One review of the J I found on LSP goes on and on about the airfoil profile of the wing is that a concern on the D? Keep up the good work! Thanks, Dave
I don't have the "J" kit but I think the only bad part would be the frosted tint they did and the seam/join lines for the turrets. They are coming out with aftermarket sets for both the "D" and the "J". Do you have a link to the wing issue?
@@inclusivemodeldesigns16 Who is "they" that will have upgrade? I asked Eduard, and their sets are for the J. The below also mentions that the tires are too big for the wheel wells. forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/78152-hobbyboss-132-liberator-gr-mkvi-raf-coastal-command/
Dave Shick “They” is just in general. Usually after a kit comes out tons of folks come out with aftermarket items. With the B-24, crickets! Not sure why? For the “D” you really have to dig or do it yourself. You will find that I will be paving the way with this build and I am sure I will be taking tons of flak I’m sure!
I was comparing the j and the d kit instructions and there is a bomb sight included in the d kit. I belive its R54 & 55. I only own the B24 D but found the J's instructions on scalemates website
I can't speak for anyone else, but the reason I'm not building it is because the fatal flaw that HB made with the airfoil at the wing roots on this kit. Unless it's been fixed, which I doubt, I won't be building the kit. I'm extremely bummed about it, but I simply can't get past those hugely inaccurate air foils. It's one of the distinguishing features of the B-24 and HB decided to just draw in a generic airfoil for it. There are several other flaws and "cutting corners" HB did with this kit, that I could otherwise fix myself or get aftermarket, but the wings are not fixable. HB would have to build a completely new mold for the wings and fuselage halves in order to fix it.
Hey Map... I was going to address the airfoil problem in a later video and still will. Now I have and will correct little problems as I go and some I will just have to let go. The airfoil one is just one that I will just have say "oh well" to sadly. I have been building models for almost 30 years now and I have been waiting for a 1/32 B-24 to come out since the 1/48 scale Liberator came out. HK dropped the ball with their models and HB got a lot right but made a major mistake that's for sure! Let's just see what I can produce in the end? Your feelings are just, but will we ever see a better 32 Liberator?
@@inclusivemodeldesigns16 A better, or even another 1/32 B-24??? No, I don't think so. I think what HB put out here is it in 1/32. I was so ecstatic when I first learned of a 1/32 B-24. I wanted to build this kit so bad. There's no doubt that HB lost a lot of sales by cutting corners on the kit the way they did, particularly with the wings. I can somewhat understand some cutting of corners in order to save on the bottom line, but the wing thing is just inexcusable in my opinion. It's almost as if they were running out of time and wanted to hurry and get the kit out, so decided to skip putting in the time to get the airfoils correct, and just draw in some generic airfoils (??). With all that said, great build thus far and I'll be watching with interest.
Those pin marks in the rear cockpit bulkhead are vicious! Looking good so far.
I know right... I was going to mention those. I also forgot to mention the wash I did to weather the cockpit as well. Next video I will do that.
I love the start of the new model that you’re doing I love the cockpit and your problem-solving of defects or missing material keep up the good work
Thanks Tim. I have been sitting on this kit for sometime now. I am glad I am finally giving it a go!
Outstanding video and presentation.
That´s a manly model! Love the Ploesti-artwork! Heroic raid..
Indeed it is!

She is a big one! Not as big feeling as the HK B-17 though? Not because the scale is off, just different plane design...

Yes it was a critical tool the Bomb sight was. The bombers did carry them though... The crews were trained to destroy if possible.

The Ploesti raiders had no bombsight they used a modified gunsight. I also believe they had no ball turret but used the tunnel gun.
You are correct.
are there 1/32 scale aircrew for both the b-24 and b-17?
I am not to sure?
